I don't play Tyranids, however, I do play Tau and the temptation to get a Norn Emissary to display next to my converted Riptide like the 40k version of a Japanese Mecha vs Kaiju fight is *so* real right now
I saw through the old biovor model also. I love the gorilla design, someone said the new design reminds them of a starship trooper bug design and I totally see that too. I like the new one a lot also. I just with it had more of an homage to the gorilla one like. I do like the new one! Also you’re not gonna comment on the horse c-&k gun of the little dudes! Go back and look, you can’t unsee it now. Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
In the third edition Tyranid codex it implies the biovores were created by the Tyranids with Ork DNA. Which makes alot of sense "the gorilla look". The new design is cool but it feels like it should be an entirely different unit.
I really liked the first 3rd edition Biovore with its middle arms supporting the weight of the cannon. The 4th edition "Gorilla" look is from the generations design plan. 4th edition introduced the idea that the Tyranids were taking on the traits of the 40k races. The Biovore is Ork DNA based so it has a larger bottom jaw and gorilla arms. The Zoanthrope became a Eldar wraith construct. The Tyrant Guard went from "bulldog/Terminators" (the best version ever) to "Space Marine black carapace". I liked the Hive Tyrant of that era too. The Xenomorph queen head was cool because it harkened back to 2nd edition Zoanthropes. Sure it took 2+ hours to glue the head on without pinning... Metal models required more dedication lol.
I feel like it would make a cool list to just run a ton of lichters and von ryan's leapers + barb gaunts and biovores to make the ultimate scoring army with movement debuffs for maximum freedom of movement across the board
Don't forget Tyrannocytes to Deepstrike things onto the board up the field that don't normally have that capability, and very fast flying things (Gargoyles) who can zoom up the board to apply sudden mass OC.
I preferred the more gorilla design of the bio/pyrovores since they’d be more coherent with other tyranid land designs. The new bio/pyrovores would fit more as turret mites on a bio ship.
I love the new Biovore/Pyrovore designs. I don't even have a Tyranid Army, but I really want to get some just to paint them up. The old design of the Biovore was adorable though; just a happy, smiley, spore-launching boy without a worry in the world.
I've just got back in 40k after 20 years away and before jumping in fully i dipped my toes in with the old genestealers (set i had 20 years ago!) and cleaning the mould lines off was almost put me off so I'm glad you mentioned it!
Something I noticed, although could be wrong, the Lictor standing tall and the Deathleaper seems to share the same mantis claws. So it _could_ be a kit that can make any of 4 build of Lictors.
I had doubts about doing a tyranid armt with the tyranid half of leviathan but these new models have convinced me. Mainly the pyrovore. Hes so round. And fiery. I love him
They implied during the livestream that the Neurolictor would have the ability to mind control enemy units if they failed a battle shock test. My assumption is that they hit with their psychic ranger attack & then, if that battle shock test is failed, the Tyranid player can make that unit shoot another unit out of sequence. Could be really devastating if your heavy ordinance battery turns its guns on your commander. I hope the Norn Assimilator is effectively a Tyranid Knight equivalent & priced accordingly in the points cost. We need some Pacific Rim action!
The Norn Emmissary looks amazing but I'm with Jay, the way it was described in the excerpts/books describe it more as a slimy, maybe snake like Tyranid (more Trygon than Hive Tyrant). From one of the descriptions; "One of them struck on the eighth day of the siege, having compressed its mass into the seemingly impossible confines of a decommissioned turbolift shaft then crawled steadily upwards for untold hours". I don't see this thing removing its carapace armor or snaking through small spaces.
The Lictor variante look to me like the same body, arms and legs at least. How it's attached to the base (the red one is leaning forward a lot because of how it connects to the tactical rock) The claws and maybe the head are different. I suspect it'll still be one per box.
I love the new pyro/biovore, but I would really have loved them to make a modern day version of the old ones. The thick trunk legs for recoil absorption, maybe some armoured front-arms to protect from oncoming fire as they are pretty stationary.
I think they should hold off on the warriors refresh unless they plan on bringing back shrikes. They could pack them in with the warriors box and have wings/accessories as a potential build option. I mean, c'mon... they just made a winged prime model. It would be too good to pass up imo. I hope it will be in the works at some point moving forward.
I love the hormagaunts there designs are lovely but my only worry is that they look a little top heavy like there old designs that used to fall over all the time which worries me
yes ripper swarms have a lot of wounds for their cost but those wounds disappear really quickly. 35 points for 12 wounds but T2 so even bolt pistols wound on a 2 and any AP will get your wounds straight through due to the 6+ save. having a shooting attack and removing OC on whatever they're in melee with though is kinda cool so I still think rippers are a good supporting unit
The norn emissary looks like it needs little flaps that it can flop down to protect its brain bits. For something so tough it seems easy to just shoot at the juicy brain bits
While I'm still waiting for Shrikes, I sadly don't see Warriors getting an update. They already did get one a few years back, when they added a lot of the melee options and the introduced Tyranid Primes as an option in that kit. I feel Gargoyles deserve access to some more weapon options like Spinefists and Scything Talons, so we can have a bit more variety in our flying troops, even if they are mainly the screen to soak up damage for the Shrikes behind them. I'm also still hoping we'll maybe, one day, see the Nautiloid as a massive model that just soaks up damage and provides cover for everything behind it.
I'd rather see the pyrovor/biovor's gun buns around as a thorax rather than a gun attached to the top. But a mixture of the gorilla and bug would have been great
I like the spider/crab/scorpion look for the Biovore, but I do think the guns themselves look a bit strange. The Pyrovore I think looks a bit better in the picture because it looks like the gun is connected to some kind of tail like a scorpion, so maybe it's just a bad angle. I agree that Warriors are missing from this refresh, Gargoyles as well. The Winged Prime, a flying melee unit, is in a very awkward position right now where it can be attached to a flying shooting unit, a non-flying melee unit, or a non-flying shooting unit. A new warrior kit with shrike options and maybe even a new gargoyle kit with scything talons options would fix that problem. Also, I keep hearing people argue that Warriors look fine. They don't. They are just as old as all the other refreshed models. And Gargoyles are now in a weird place if they're left behind with all the gaunt refreshes. The last two Tyranid models I think need a refresh are Raveners and the Carnifex, but both can wait as I can see each being released alongside new character models some time in the future (The Red Terror and Old One Eye respectively).
I like the old genestealers. Termagants look good with new weapons. Lots of the hormagaunts look like they will tip over without being weighted still. The lictors look awesome and cool options. Biovore/pyrovore looks fantastic.
So I love the idea of like a The Thing Tyranid... but from a modelling standpoint, it could be very tough to distinguish it from Chaos Spawn or something Chaos might generate. Also, how do you make just a formless mass of flesh and claws and mouths and eyes both A) look like a Tyranid, and B) make it an interesting model.
Loved every model from the new range. I agree that the Warriors are the last key thing. I'm hoping for perhaps a Kill Team box that has a squad of 3 (or 2 sets of 3) Warriors with melee, ranged, and wing options for all. The Tyrant could have used an update as well but it is what it is.
16:20 "the Dimacheron, a surprising fan favorite and then it kind of just went away" yeah Jay because it was absolutely overpowered for a bit then got nerfed into oblivion LOL
I feel like if they do something with the warriors, they don’t need to do much more than increase detail, add wings to the sprue, and maybe give them more shoulder armor
absolutely love the Emissary and Assimilator. 100% Dimacharon replacements. main GW made them as replacements for that creature. same kinda background to, giant tyrannies that their purpose is to hunt and take out enemy leaders and generals. Gw really knocked it out of of the part with all these bugs. excellent work. very excited to add these to my giant Tyranid collection.
hope the new (old) weapon option for Termagants is so that we can kit out the whole squad. :) if it is i will get so that i have a 20 squad of each, other wise i might kitbash them as i have 110 Termagants already. think i will skip the Genestealers as i got 30 of them that is max, and the Hormagaunts as i got 80 of them :D BUT the rest i will get a unit of each also one of each Norn :D
I hope there will be a tyranid battleforce this year that can hopefully include most of these new models, I’d love to pick them up but outside of discount boxes it’s just too much money
TLDR: I love the new Biovore/Pyrovore personally, their more bug-like qualities make them the kind of models I wish the *entire* Tyranid range looked like imo. I am *ALL IN* on the new Biovore/Pyrovore! I don't play Tyranids, but if more of their range looked like these models, I absolutely would. This is for entirely subjective and personal reasons, but Tyranids were pitched to me as the "Space Bug" army, but only a small handful actully look like bugs. I get that the lore says they're an amalgum of different animals and creatures; and I've also learned that their design sources have some *deep* roots from earlier editions that made them look *alot* more like Dinosaurs. So the idea of them being pitched as "Space Bugs" I've learned more of a generalization than accurate descriptor. One that's influenced by other sources of media like the Zerg of Starcraft and the bugs of Starship Troopers. So like the Tyranids themselves, their perception and design inspirations have adapted and changed over the years in fair number of ways.(after all, look at old Tyranid Warriors compared to the current ones) However, as someone who likes Bug asthetics and has learned a bit about just how *crazy* some reals life bugs can be, there will always be a part of me that wants their range to look more bug-like. And the new Biovore/Pyrovore capture what I *personally* want Tyranids to look like *perfectly*. 10/10 models!
I think it would be neat if you left the 1lb kill team as leviathan, then some time in the future you could do a "Can these be fixed?" video about them. Also, do you wanna paint that Trygon during a stream?
I really love most of the models, especially godzilla and the lictor! The norn emissary may be my favorite model now! (except the Juan Diaz daemon prince, no one can compete with that). And I don't want to sound negative but I don't really love the biovore/pyrovore it looks just like a armored spider with a weird gun on it. I would've liked it more if they did the older designs but then less derpy. Also I don't really like the pose of the neurolictor, it looks like it's showing it's butt😅
Totally agreed, especially on the Diaz Daemon Prince. I think this aesthetic works for the pyrovore, but the biovores lost their “gun-beast,” entrenched look. Maybe there’s a better print for biovores that retains their tankiness. The Norn is too cool!
@@offtankgaming1310 it does kind of work but I personally just don't love em. I really like the old pyrovore and the biovore was pretty ugly but I liked that it had like fists with talons sticking in the ground to hold his position, and his gross gun morphed kinda into him. Im not saying the new one is bad, they look great, just not for me. Maybe I just like old models (got to get my hands on the fat genestealer patriarch sitting on a throne). I might get the model though to trie and convert them.
the warriors arn't that old though so i can't see them replacing them. they had a refresh about 7 years ago, I believe when they did the Haruspex, Zoanthropes/ Venomthropes and Toxicrene along with a few others
@@andresperedo1275 I hope so. Knowing 10th would be near I decided to go for 1000/1500 points of Tyranids, so I bought the Boarding Patrol with this plan: kitbash the 8 genestealers into 5 'updated' ones with the bits from the (very likely) refresh of the model I was pretty sure the Patriarch would be fine for a while and then I 'gambled' on the warriors not having a refresh - I get they would need one, but putting two units in the same box with genestealers seemed a little too scammish for me I was quite impressed by the reveal (I also still hope for a couple minis more lol) I learned with Orks it's hard to cover all important units, we still don't have new minis neither for Nobz,/MechNobz, Burnas, Lootas or Tankbustas
Jays wish will get monkey pawed into melee gargoyles as the only new flyer option. Which I do think they want as an option. Blotting out the sky with many majestic melee flap flaps is a mood. But give shrikes / winged warriors.
No, the Norn Emissary and Norn Assimilator will not take on the bunker. They will just TAKE the bunker like a lunchbox with the enemy commander inside
Yea
LOL
guard o's with blueberry's
Love the new biovore model, the spider crab shape is dope.
I really like the tail on the pyrovore too.
I like the design but it should have 2 hooved feet at the back. The legs are a bit too starship troopers.
I know, it looked so good in starcraft 2.
b u g
I love the new hormagaunts, you can tell the GW sculptors heavily referenced from Paleo-art of Rators/dromaeosaurids and it's so good
I don't play Tyranids, however, I do play Tau and the temptation to get a Norn Emissary to display next to my converted Riptide like the 40k version of a Japanese Mecha vs Kaiju fight is *so* real right now
Do it!
Yeeeees!
Do it, worst case scenario. you can make a small kill team boss battle with friends
Pacific rim theme intensifies
The new pyrovore is wonderful it’s like a lil beetle I love him.
I don't know, I think it looks more like a Roach. An almost 1:1 copy of the zerg Roach to be exact.
Lmaoooo the horse-dong-dildo-gun
Been collecting Nids since Third Ed. Looking forward to more to add to my collection.
7:00 The hack I've seen is to put one ripper on each base so you stretch it out to a full unit from one kit.
Grey Knights still waiting for the Grey Knight Knights to Grey Knight
I really liked the first 3rd edition Biovore with its middle arms supporting the weight of the cannon.
The 4th edition "Gorilla" look is from the generations design plan.
4th edition introduced the idea that the Tyranids were taking on the traits of the 40k races. The Biovore is Ork DNA based so it has a larger bottom jaw and gorilla arms.
The Zoanthrope became a Eldar wraith construct.

How many other people here don't play wargames but are just here for Jays infectious enthusiasm?
I feel like it would make a cool list to just run a ton of lichters and von ryan's leapers + barb gaunts and biovores to make the ultimate scoring army with movement debuffs for maximum freedom of movement across the board
Don't forget Tyrannocytes to Deepstrike things onto the board up the field that don't normally have that capability, and very fast flying things (Gargoyles) who can zoom up the board to apply sudden mass OC.
that sounds like a huge middle finger to dark eldar armies
I preferred the more gorilla design of the bio/pyrovores since they’d be more coherent with other tyranid land designs. The new bio/pyrovores would fit more as turret mites on a bio ship.
maybe as point defense against missiles/torpedoes? They look good either way
I love the new Biovore/Pyrovore designs. I don't even have a Tyranid Army, but I really want to get some just to paint them up. The old design of the Biovore was adorable though; just a happy, smiley, spore-launching boy without a worry in the world.
Agree we, need a new winged warrior kit for our leviathan primes 😁
Started 40k this edition with the bugs. Can't wait to get my mits on these kits
My son is a Nids player and I am excited for him to get new units.
Glad to see the spike rifle and strangle webs make a comeback
I've just got back in 40k after 20 years away and before jumping in fully i dipped my toes in with the old genestealers (set i had 20 years ago!) and cleaning the mould lines off was almost put me off so I'm glad you mentioned it!
Bugs are a kind of animal, like how fish, birds, mammals and reptiles are all a kind of animal.
Something I noticed, although could be wrong, the Lictor standing tall and the Deathleaper seems to share the same mantis claws. So it _could_ be a kit that can make any of 4 build of Lictors.
Love the bug aesthetic they are doing now.
If my wife told me “it’s me or the Norn-Emissary” it would be the norn emissary.
I had doubts about doing a tyranid armt with the tyranid half of leviathan but these new models have convinced me. Mainly the pyrovore. Hes so round. And fiery. I love him
I like the new Pyrovore/ Biovore…. They reminds me of the Zerg Swarm Hosts from StarCraft….
… which I like !
I like the pyrovore because it's clearly a bombadier beetle, aka that one bug that sprays burning acid out it's butt.
Holy you’re right it is a little bombardier beetle that makes it even better.
I don't know, kinda looks like a Zerg Roach to me.
The termigaunts look like they can hold the guns without toppling over which is a good thing
They implied during the livestream that the Neurolictor would have the ability to mind control enemy units if they failed a battle shock test. My assumption is that they hit with their psychic ranger attack & then, if that battle shock test is failed, the Tyranid player can make that unit shoot another unit out of sequence. Tips for cleaning mould lines please. Also bumps after we've clipped off sprue. I know you have answers for all this.
Oooh boy. Now I want some pyrovores. I think they'll compliment the psychophages arachnid-like aesthetic.
The Lictor variante look to me like the same body, arms and legs at least. How it's attached to the base (the red one is leaning forward a lot because of how it connects to the tactical rock) The claws and maybe the head are different. I suspect it'll still be one per box.
me: pov if the tyranids had knights. gamesworkshop: that's called a norn emissary
I love the new pyro/biovore, but I would really have loved them to make a modern day version of the old ones. The thick trunk legs for recoil absorption, maybe some armoured front-arms to protect from oncoming fire as they are pretty stationary.
the spore mines look like a mix between floating master cheif helmets and the little flood guys

Washer or steel ball bearings under the bases will make them pretty stable. My 2nd edition one are metal.
yes ripper swarms have a lot of wounds for their cost but those wounds disappear really quickly. 35 points for 12 wounds but T2 so even bolt pistols wound on a 2 and any AP will get your wounds straight through due to the 6+ save. having a shooting attack and removing OC on whatever they're in melee with though is kinda cool so I still think rippers are a good supporting unit
Ripper swarms are part of the gaunt squad now.
love the vids, love the nids, keep up the good work!
The norn emissary looks like it needs little flaps that it can flop down to protect its brain bits. For something so tough it seems easy to just shoot at the juicy brain bits
Probably a psychic protection field or something

Mold lines keeps everyone at EOB at night 😂
Christ bless you, Tyranids are eating good this edition jeez!
I'd rather see the pyrovor/biovor's gun buns around as a thorax rather than a gun attached to the top. But a mixture of the gorilla and bug would have been great

I like the old genestealers. Termagants look good with new weapons. Lots of the hormagaunts look like they will tip over without being weighted still. The lictors look awesome and cool options. Biovore/pyrovore looks fantastic.
Has any announcement to the release date to the models come out? I have seen people talk about the models but I haven't heard of a release date.
I got told September
So I love the idea of like a The Thing Tyranid... but from a modelling standpoint, it could be very tough to distinguish it from Chaos Spawn or something Chaos might generate. Also, how do you make just a formless mass of flesh and claws and mouths and eyes both A) look like a Tyranid, and B) make it an interesting model.
I have most of these but there are some that I need to get.
yeah once my forces are up to scratch i will be painting a parasite and a new lictor just for fun.
Not big into the Norns or the Deathleaper, but I absolutely adore the new hormagaunts, genestealers, and lictor
The Neurolictor is like very scary and Will have abilities to inflict battleshook stuff. Didn’t any of you watch the stream?
Love all the new sculpts but also a bit disappointed about the lack of shrikes.
I mean Godzilla goes into the ocean and hides at the end of every movie, they might be pretty stealthy despite their size
I hope that you can add those new lictors to the von ryans leapers to make them even better
Having received my Leviathan box a couple of days ago, I'm more than a bit pissed that it doesn't have these updates.

Oh at last with the new Genestealer box... and wouldn't cha know? I just started a GsC army :D
hope the new (old) weapon option for Termagants is so that we can kit out the whole squad. :)
if it is i will get so that i have a 20 squad of each, other wise i might kitbash them as i have 110 Termagants already.
think i will skip the Genestealers as i got 30 of them that is max, and the Hormagaunts as i got 80 of them :D
BUT the rest i will get a unit of each also one of each Norn :D
Nothing will ever beat the old ork-y biovore
12:19 bugs aren't animals? :P
That Norm Emissary just gives me hard Pacific Rim Kaiju vibes 😮
What size base are the new genestealers on? No issue still playing with the old models?
I feel like we might get new Warriors in a Kill team
Maybe you can play a large sneaky Nid army. That would be cool. Plus what kind of specialty kill team will they come out with????
i would love to see some even bigger tyrranids that are truly knight size. still that norn assimilator is epic
New Pyrovore/Biovore sculpt is great, want to kitbash it into some kind of cavalery 🤔
I know right? They looked great in starcraft 2.
I just want to know how these new Nid models will fit into Kill Team.
the spore mines, look like prestige 10 helmet from halo reach
I'm starting a new army for the spider and all the new modes
What are your thoughts on siegestudios
I hope there will be a tyranid battleforce this year that can hopefully include most of these new models, I’d love to pick them up but outside of discount boxes it’s just too much money

Tyranids players getting new models: it's been 84 years....
The new spike rifles is going to be amazing for tau kitbashing

Do you like Warhammer
i’m a huge fan of bugnids, i want some more big creepy bugs, also i can’t believe im gonna have to buy two Norn emissaries

Min 12:00 , bugs ARE animals :)
In the first pic of the Norn emissary, you can see the old warriors in the background. So no update, I think.
@@andresperedo1275 I hope so. Knowing 10th would be near I decided to go for 1000/1500 points of Tyranids, so I bought the Boarding Patrol with this plan:
kitbash the 8 genestealers into 5 'updated' ones with the bits from the (very likely) refresh of the model
I was pretty sure the Patriarch would be fine for a while
and then I 'gambled' on the warriors not having a refresh - I get they would need one, but putting two units in the same box with genestealers seemed a little too scammish for me
I was quite impressed by the reveal (I also still hope for a couple minis more lol) I learned with Orks it's hard to cover all important units, we still don't have new minis neither for Nobz,/MechNobz, Burnas, Lootas or Tankbustas
Biovore? Gun looks like some growth at the end of Akira
Boutta start tyranid army probd
man oh man I love your vibe, and now I wanna stop watching your videos cuz youre always so happy and it makes me wanna buy more minis too! 🤣🤣🤣
i like the spider look ..the guns are a tad big but i like the look
Norm emissary gives me huge monster X (Form godzilla final wars) vibes
Jays wish will get monkey pawed into melee gargoyles as the only new flyer option.
Which I do think they want as an option. Blotting out the sky with many majestic melee flap flaps is a mood. But give shrikes / winged warriors.
Gorilla all the way, but then I have fond memories from 4th of Spore Mine shenanigans..
