The Clementine Carnivore would be a fitting name. Unleash the spores!
I would like to see a Primaris Space Marine painted in a retro style. See some crazy 2nd or 3rd ed paint schemes on an intercessor
that sounds really cool!
Midwinter mini's has been doing this with old SM models with original paints from that era
People have done it. You can google primaris with retro paint style and theres whole armies done that way.
Yes please
Luetin did this on his Ultramarines, check them up on his twitter :)
I always wanted to to collected and do an alien themed army all back and glossy looking like the ones from alien 2
Lol I did exactly that some years ago, and now I want to strip and repaint them...
you think you do, but you dont
@@Paintedfigs why do you want to repaint them?
@@elibarker201 maybe because a mostly glossy black/dark blue paint scheme with little to no variation is boring as hell.
There is a guy on UA-cam who did it looks really cool
What a transformation! One thing I really dig is how the tail and the horn bring this guy closer in appearance to a hive tyrant. It feels like it could morph itself into a new one to lead a swarm of its own, kinda like a xenomorph praetorian mutating into a queen. And the magenta ink? *chef's kiss* Perfection.
Unleash the spores! I love how you managed to really make this guard non-derpy. I dub it "The undying stalker", a plague on a rural human population.
Unleash the spores! It is amazing how Greenstuff can help re-pose old metal minis.
isn't that the biovore that Juan Diaz sculpted? Fun fact, the first game I played WH40K was in the store where Juan worked before he was hired as a sculptor. Basically, he was the one who taught me how to play my first game.
#UnleashTheSpores!
in the dark corners of the planet, there are murmurs, rumours, hushed whispers - of a monster... Tales told by teenagers around campfires, bedtime horror stories told by children's fathers when their mother is too tired to read them normal bedtime stories, the tales all speak of a horror beyond comprehension, an ancient evil that prowls the surface of the world, a monster who's very cry could send people who hear it insane... the name of this monster you ask?
Larry.
I think it's possible the locals might call it The Flesh Harvester, possibly due to the Tyranid rotating through villages like they were crops. Whatever you choose, adding a little local lore is always fun. Unleash the spores!
Unleash the Spores! I kinda imagined "The Splitter" could be a fun name given it's new-found ability to "split" it's shield in two for ease of use, as well as the many ways it can "split" someone open with it's arsenal! Although, giving it a super mundane name like "Humphrey" would be hilarious. Imagine telling your local PDF that Humphrey just destroyed a leman russ outside.
Unleash the spores! As a name for the tyrant guard I would like to suggest "The chitin cobra", it turned out great!
I think the Tyranid should be named something like: The Carmine Stalker, wich applies to the color scheme and it helps with the creeping in the shadows.
Unleash the spores!
I like that one!
or goku
Personally, I think Dave works better.
Really cool conversion, super enjoy seeing old kits get some upcrafting. Stay awesome.
Unleash the spores! I love the conversion dude! I'm only just getting into the hobby so seeing such creativity is really inspirational in respect of just how much fun you can get out of this hobby
Very nice vide. I have a 2001 Tyranid Battleforce Box that was gifted to me and I been dying to paint them. This gave me a ton of inspiration.
Unleash the spores! The perfect video to watch while finishing up painting my tyranid mawloc and genestealer cult iconward, plus i love biovores too. Just the idea of a ton of biovores sounds like so much fun to me
Unleash the spores! Also, I love that you're upping your use of inks into your painting.
UNLEASH THE SPORES! Honestly I love this video and the work you did, I have a soft spot for the Tyranids from this era, I love the aesthetic of trying to move from goofy rogue trader to manacing galaxy eater but the non commitment they put in to it
UNLEASH THE SPORES!! Awesome job bringing such life back to a retro model! Also maybe a name for him could be the Lashed Loner- playing off that backstory you gave him and his whips
This video has made me pretty happy having uncovered my own 2nd edition Tyranid army (yes, shamefully almost completely unpainted) in my mother's attic a few weeks ago. Complete with that great Hive Tyrant and a Screamer Killer, plus 3 of those upright plastic warriors, one of which has snapped at the waist under the weight of the spare barbed strangler from the tyrant I'd inexpertly attached to its right side arm sockets...
Unless the spores!! That hive guard has been one of my favorites for as long as I've known about the nids. You sir took a model I loved and made it a spicy little killer. SSS+
Unleash the Spores!
Love your work. i often find myself listening to your videos whilst painting. currently working through your backlog
Ahh right in the nostalgia. Also good to know the editions I used to play in! Started with 3rd and played until 5th, I remember the codex and models but didn't recall the edition numbers.
Great paint job, really liked the final steps with the magenta.
UNLEASH THE SPORES!!
Unleash the spores! Good work on the Tyrant Guard! The colors turned out pretty good in the end! I have some of these too and used the current plastic guard arms on mine to update them and removes those wonky-looking shields and weapons!
I remember when 5e nids dropped. It's still crazy watching people lament the age of the models, after having played and painted nids during the in-between period. Ye Olde Old One Eye was a thing to behold.
"BLUE AND ORANGE!" I gasp as I look at my Deep blue flesh and Fiery chitinous flyrant with a cork layered jungle basing scheme sitting triumphantly on the shelf next to me. Magenta with a yellow glaze is how I did mine!
As a Tyranid player I really enjoyed this, I feel compelled to "unleash the spores!"
Hey you won! can you reach out to us email eonsofbattle@gmail.com
Hey you won! can you reach out to us email!
I can’t believe I actually won I never win anything lol
Unleash the spores !!! Well done; both kitbashing and painting, awesome result !
This is so cool your vids always help with painting inspiration.
Unleash the spores! I love how that blue/orange turned out!
WOW, awesome job. Love the choice of colors you used. It would have fit in during rogue trader days.
The Sunbreaker
Marooned on the hellish planet of Zircon VI, which formerly served as the home of a battle-hardened Imperial Guard regiment prior to its invasion by Hive Fleet Behemoth, the Sunbreaker is an abandoned and mutated Tyranid Hive Guard that gestated new physical developments due to Zircon's extreme solar radiation levels. It is named such because it constantly stalks the planet's desolate surface for prey, the remainder of Zircon's population, its carapace taking the blood orange color of the angry sun above it even in its unbearable heat.
Unleash the spores! That magenta made it look real neat.
Unleash the spores! Loved this video and have actually got this mini unpainted in a Tyranid pile. This inspires me to change the model up a bit as well.
Unleash the Spores!! This would be an awesome gift to a friend who is a Nids player but I might just wanna keep it for myself since it is a Jay piece!!
UNLEASH THE SPORES!!!! That paint job is amazing, it's the same colour as the cans of Irn-Bru here in Scotland, this will forever be know here as the Irn-Bru Guard
Remember seeing the plastic minis coming to shelves, niceto see the metal sculpts getting some love again.
Unleash the spores! Great video here. I love the adding of magenta at the end it really pulled the model together
Unleash the spores! The mini ended up kick ass, mostly that tail which I am jealous off xD.
Well played sir.
Unleash the Spores! I have 3 of those tyrant guards in my army... wish I had seen this before I painted them up lol. You did an excellent job!
Unleash the spores! I personally liked the zaney look of the old rouge trader tyranids, it made them unusual and even more alien while being goofy.
Love these kinda of vids Jay! Really encouraging to try sonething like that myself. :) Thanks!
UNLEASH THE SPORES!
awesome. always good to see you working on eavy metal. i think i would have used the Dremel with a fine tip. or just a tip to add extra details to the shell to bring it up to the same grungy details they had in the artwork. again great work jay. will be back on channels soon just been unwell lately.
The separated shield makes the whole model way more dynamic. Unleash the spores!
I haven't bought a or painted a mini yet but I got into your painting videos and now I wanna Unleash the spores!
I love the old pewter hive tyrant. I use one as a tyranid prime because it differentiates from the warrior models better.
Enjoyed the painting vid as ever - Keep them coming!
Unleash the Spores!! Great kitbash :) love revamping old school models ;) awesome paint job too! :)
Unleash the spore!
Amazing paintjob. Really inspired to keep workibg on my army bit by bit
Unleash the Spores! Its great to see you still excited and positive about the hobby, hard to find that these days!
Unleash the spores! Great video. I am really impressed by the updated pose and paint job!
That was a great salvage piece! love how you breathed new life into something that may have never seen the table or a shelf. ;)
Unleash the Spores! Always love seeing Nid conversions whether they're newer models or old ones. I got into the hobby a bit before the end of 8th edition so I don't know much about the older stuff but it's always interesting to see.
Unleash the spores! Love the models. You always make your painting look so easy and so, SO good.
This was an awesome paint job I have a bunch of tyranids painted yellow and purple exactly how you did i thought that was such an awesome coincidence lol
Unleash the spores
Unleash the spores! Really liked the colour scheme! I remember when I first got Spacehulk & all the gene stealers were blue plastic so I just painted heads & hands pink! Have fun with building your kill team. 🛠️
As a kid, this really inspired me, even if I don't have a big enough allowance to get all the bits to kitbash things like this, I still say unleash the spores!
Unleash the spores!! Man that is such an awesome conversion and paint scheme! I have one of those kicking around some where I want to pull out and have a go at converting now 🤔
Unleash the spores!! Always happy when EOB drops a new video and they are killing it!
UNLEASH THE SPORES!
I feel dirty watching you chop up that pewter hive guard, the metal hive guard was actually one of the first tyranids I ever collected…. Oh the memories
Unleash the spores! Thanks for being great to listen to while I hobby!
Unleash the Spores! Fantastic work on both the converting and the paintjob! I especially like the idea of splitting the shield. I hope you make a video of your tyranid kill team project.
Great conversion on that old Tyrant Guard!!
I would LOVE to add those Biovores to my swarm!!
Unleash the spores!!
This was a trip down memory lane. I still have a 2k point army at my parents house. All of it 2nd and 3rd edition. Lots of heavy metal units. That's the old codex I used to use also.
Problem with Tyranids is the expense, and how weak they are against anything with guns.
I could totally use those Biovores. I actually submitted my first painted metal Biovore to you guys when used to do the EoB Complete segments. Either way - kick ass kitbash!
Unleash the spore! I really love the color scheme I never dare to paint with that bright of colors so now seeing how these ended up I think I might try to paint in some brighter schemes, so thank you.
I played Tyranids at this time, well mostly 2nd edition and briefly 3rd, but I remember those hive guard miniatures, and even then, I, along with many other people, thought they were absolutely hideous. I simply cannot believe what you were able to accomplish with that miniature. It looks AWESOME; that paint job is eye candy and the color choice super slick! Maybe he can be called Xenomorph 022 (as in 2022)? As they say, Unleash the spores!
UNLEASH THE SPORES!!! Tyranids always seemed like a cool army to me but those old sculpts have such a fun style with how derpy they are
I feel the same way about that tyrant guard, but he really made it shine! I might have a go at mine.
Unleash the spores!! I bought a nid army second hand from a friend and they were a surprising amount of fun to paint and play, definitely hyped for the new codex
Thank you for the videos that you do. Clearly you put a lot of work into them. I'm new to warhammer and looking to start Tyranids. I'll take any chance I get to have more models. Keep up the great work!
That’s really awesome dude, great work!
Unleash the spores!!! I currently have one Biovore and would love to add two more to my collection. Jay, I love watching your videos, thank you.
Unleash the spores! giving that old rusty Bug a major overhaul! Well done.
I had a lovely tyranid army back in 2nd edition, with that hive tyrant and carnifex. Also the tyranid warriors that replaced them, but not the ones from 3rd edition. Good times.
I went with blue and orange for my Tyranid kill team too... but yours look better. Good stuff!
I also think yinz "oldhammer" videos are the best. Much love for old minis, but EVERYONE seems to try to give them a same style glow-up like it's 1998. Seeing someone take these old minis and give them modern paint jobs or even conversions is awesome.
Besides the great conversion, this video counts as an excellent Tyranids paint scheme on its own. Well done.
Unleash the spores! Absolutely loved the paint job, I might use it for my own tyranids.
Unleash the spores!
Love these snapshots into classic 40k before I joined the hobby. Keep it up!
I still have my 'nids from Advanced Space Crusade. Love them:)
It’s a tyrant guard 🥺
Watching this video unlocked a memory of 10 year old me walking into a gamesworkshop for the first time and being instantly hooked on the Tyranids.
Unleash the Spores! Great work! About to start working on a genestealer kill team myself. Going to use a colorshift metal for the body to get a beetle like look.
I have a tyranid army I bought in 05. I could definitely use them to Kickstart me actually assembling and painting mine. So unleash the spores!
Excellent music choices for the vid
I myself don't collect Tyranids but i am fairly new so getting more models (especially the cool ones from the past) is something that i would really like
Sick job bringing some life to this retro mini! Unleash the spores!
With those big shields it can bang together, the pinchy tail and big ol' Tyranid teeth, I think people would end up calling it "The Gnasher". Or with that beautiful orange/blue scheme, "The Sunset Horror".
And so I don't forget, unleash the spores.
Just getting into this hobby, so unleash the spores! Amazing videos that are truly inspiring even if I cannot do the same level!
Unleash the spores!! Gosh I love the old goofy tyranid models and you some how made it look so dope, amazing job
Unleash the spores! You need to fill your Tyranid blind spot as the Nids are the way forward. Really enjoying your vids as you actually seem to enjoy what you do, it makes a refreshing change.
UNLEASH THE SPORES! I love this video so much, it is cool to see an old hammer become such a good new model
Great videoMan. Love the paint job.
Aww always soo great, never any poking or prodding necessary. Thank you.
UNLEASH THE SPORES These pyrovores will make an excellent addition to my collection... said in General Grievous voice. : )
Great work on bringing that hive tyrant kicking and screaming into the modern day.
Unleash the spores!
Unleash the spores!!! And those funky bugs were my original intro into the hobby. Someone on Flickr make them out of Lego and they were super cool!
Unleash the spores! Tyranids definitely had one of the most radical changes over the course of the game. I can't imagine how people who loved the cartoony bugs felt when they went with more grimdark ones
Unleash the spores! Happy to see some Oldhammer stuff, since it was originally sold me on the series with Snipe and Wib.
