Nice video, I really enjoyed it! I’m a fan of fishing light and small tackle every so often, I usually do it when I take my daughters and wife fishing, we catch a ton of blue gill and sun fish. It makes it very enjoyable for us all.
I used to little creek fish with 2 lbs test.. what an adventure.. But then mostly It was just an excuse to walk through through the woods in the water... Still, I did find some fantastic little spots.. and caught fish that were shocked by finding food that fought back.. Man those two bass & the bluegill are nice little fish for 1 pound test.. Your right about ultra lite fishing... I did the same and finally was fishing with 2 lbs test a lot more than others.. though I never fished with more than 6 lbs test to begin with unless I fished for salmon and steelhead.. then I went to 8 lbs test..... I notice a lot on these fishing show that they just yard there catches in skimming them across the top of the water.. the fight was always the thing for me.. and when you use lite tackle you can't just yard 'em in like a tow truck pullin' out a stuck Well thanks for the share.. carry on! car..
@@CreekFishingAdventures I agree.. where is the fun... let 'em run.. play 'em a bit Oh well to each their own eh? there is more to fishin' than catchin' fish.. Carry on my brother..
I use ultralight gear for nearly all my fishing, but one pound test is really more for micro fishing than anything else. Two pound test is the lightest I think most fishermen should use. Some of the line test records the IGFA keeps are astounding. I'm several years out of date, but the last time I checked, the record fish on 2 pound test was a 98 pound shark. But the most astounding record is a 573 marlin caught on 4 pound test. To make this even more astounding, when the IGFA tested the line used, it actually measured in at 3.55 pound test. I don't remember what the record is for 1 pound test, but maybe you can set a new record. But be careful. Trying to set and reset your own personal best on light line and an ultralight rod can become an obsession. I think 4 pound test is a good place to start because it's heavy enough to allow some mistakes. Then, when confidence builds, move down to 2 pound test, and then down to one pound. Or just stick with 2 or 4 pound test and keep trying to catch larger and larger fish.
Back in january i bought some 2 pound testline. Never tried it before but cant wait try catch bunch bluegills other fish see how it do. I normaly for past 3 years used 4 now going try 2 pound even with catfish
Good for you. I tried 2lb 1 day, wind blowing it everywhere constant snapping..ng for me.. I love 4lb on an ultralight rod & reel. I've caught tons of bass, many 3 & 4 pounders enev a 6lb stripper. And its soft enough to feel a fly land on the line
Great video brother in Christ I've been ultra light fishing for about 10 years now and there's always something that will bite small and micro baits 😎🐟
I bought that exact rod a week ago, but I went with the Shimano reel instead, those pfleugers seemed pretty smooth though. I was on the fence between the two. For $16, that rod is pretty sweet.
I use 2lb Trilene Sensation leader and haven't had any issues. Well, cant see it but that's my old man's eyes, not a Trilene problem. It was what I caught a few of my red eye coosa'a with. BPS microlight combo. Main is 4lb mono (tourney tough) ...leader is usually 8, 10 feet. My ultralight is spooled with that Trout Magnet, Leland Lures 4lb...I didn't order correctly from Amazon and got green. Doesn't seem to bother fish. I have used Trilene Sensation as leader with that too. Great products both. But your video is Outstanding!! Of course!
I think I have to work on my casting before I go to 1 or 2 lb line. I use 4 lb now I don't have a break off when I cast but I know I cast kind of aggressively
Well now, you've really hit a new low ! " Low " in line test any way. That's crazy man. I never use less than 8# test. The lines are way better now than back when tho. Still More Power to ya ! You are a true " Fisherman ". Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
I caught a four pound trout on two pound mono. It was a real challenge. Fishing in the ocean on my boat (sold it three weeks ago) my favorite setup was a really light conventional setup with 10 pound braid and 6 pound fluorocarbon leader. Yes, I'll lose a lot of leaders but the challenge is so much fun.
Going to make me a ultralight rod n reel combo just like that one you have. Love Phleuger and I have a 5'5 Micro Series rod already. Going to buy the Trion Phleuger . What you think Brother John. Any suggestions would be highly obliged. God bless you . 👍✝️
ha, ha... love it! Sure throws dirt in the face of all the guys who won't use anything less than 10 lb. (I use 6lb all the time to catch dinks and bluegill up in waist deep grass) Only thing left is to use cheerio's, lure them in, and club them with the rod. lol Great Video!
Ok I am impressed! I fish 4 lb mono alot and I have reeled in bass, catfish, panfish, trout. I thought I never would fish with anything lighter than that but seeing this makes me want to try 2 lb mono.
Man you have great videos! Always enjoyable. Those beavers will scare the poop outta ya. Got one in one of my fishing spots here. About stepped on him last year. LOL
Used to use 2-4lb all the time for carp. Used a penrod extreme for a while but a 10-15pound carp snapped the rod with 11ounces of drag. Still got the fish though
I pulled in a fat 26in carp on an ultralight with 4lb test creek fishing last month talk about a fight so far it's the biggest fish I've caught on that setup.
Man I was planning on fishing this afternoon but as my luck goes it’s raining lol so it’s looking like I’m going to try again maybe tomorrow or Sunday. Nice video 👍🏻
@@mattrdoc my siblings always joked around saying I was my dad's favorite because we had the most in common... So they called me Golden child....One day I was complaining about how life was a rat race and my siblings said it's ok your a goldenrat... That's how that came to be.
I use a half a pound, its all anyone really needs, honestly. I got 50 lb catfish on half a pound, took 4 hours but it was fun. Good times. Edit: I had it custom made for me, the line.
I run with trilene extra strength 4lb mono...that shit is actually 40 lb test...i’ve pulled huge carp and catfish and even flipped 7lb bass no problem....yet my 30 lb braid snaps every chance it gets
Very versatile line....you can catch fish and floss your teeth in the same trip!!! Another great vid brother.
haha, teeth flossing will be on the next video
0:28. This is why I love CFA. John is always coming up with cool stuff.
Great video I really in joy your Adventures I love fishing small streams keep up the good work
A lot of fun, that! Same setup in the Wallowa Mountains of northeast Oregon for eastern brookies in the alpine lakes is simply the best!

yah im probably not going to be using it a lot, 4 lb line is my favorite to use for all sorts of fish
Great video, I love using ultra light gear... It’s definitely a lot more of a challenge...👊🏼
Perfect reel for the video. I love fluger!
yes, i recently bought the presidential for my bass rod, its smooth
Lots of rain and cold weather here as well, I'm lucky to catch a fish at all. I am always impressed with how many fish you catch.
i go out a lot of days without catching stuff, but i have been putting a lot of effort into it recently

i never thought about using it for catfish, that would be nervous on 2 lb for sure

sounds like you got it figured out, i like the 2 lb trout magnet line for that setup
0:08. John's trailer has some scrap ductwork sheet metal. No more. Now it has his pedal kayak in it!
Hope you are out fishing making us another video dude!
gotta love spillway fishing. It’s probably the fastest way to catch a ton of fish, although not a ton of big fish live in spillways
Nice it a mono, line, i actually having issue making knots for my P.E #0.3 braid to the leader. it always get cut ... i really can't help it xD
Got a couple of spinning reels 1 ultra lite recently gonna try it out today. Really looking forward to it.
hope you have fun with it

2 lb is definitely fun and it will hold up pretty good
That is my current small creek setup. I also really like the Okuma Avenger reel.

especially when your trying to be all quiet and calm and they make a huge splash
always appreciate the support

thats so awesome
When you broke off at the hook, if you run super light line tie a palamar knot. Love your videos 😁
i will have to try that
Nice, I'd be so paranoid I'd break off every cast 😂 looks fun tho
yah i probably wont use it again, but it was fun to play with
@@CreekFishingAdventures definitely. Interesting to try different things, and you caught some little chunks!
Never saw 1 lb line..crazy novelty

Wow that’s a fight. I need to go carp fishing
Some nice ones man, I did not know they even made 1lb line ...lol
it was hard to find
3:18 that was a bluegill you can tell if they have like a dark purple or black spot on the top fin
how did the catfishing go with the bait you caught?
the fish are frozen in the freezer, i havent been able to go yet

looks like it will be raining all day saturday, maybe sunday will be nice

@@JeffGeraldFishing sometimes that can be fun also, i need to re organize my stuff also
Very cool Super ultralight fishing ....
Just watched my Personal Worst (PW)ratio of UA-cam video to advertising .....commercial every 3 minutes
Good video. Is that a Pflueger Triton ultralight reel?
yes, the smallest pflueger trion

@Ron Krzaczyk i got a new setup with 4 lb line that i think i might try doing some smallmouth fishing with
good test
Not to bad for 1 pound test line
Microlite rod. 👍
I use a half a pound, its all anyone really needs, honestly. I got 50 lb catfish on half a pound, took 4 hours but it was fun. Good times.
Edit: I had it custom made for me, the line.
What kind of knot do u use with that line?
i was using the improved cinch not, really slowly and moistly tightened it up
I run with trilene extra strength 4lb mono...that shit is actually 40 lb test...i’ve pulled huge carp and catfish and even flipped 7lb bass no problem....yet my 30 lb braid snaps every chance it gets
im about to give up on braid, to much structure in most places i go, i also really like 4 lb mono
Gotta be extra careful not to "overheat" the line when tying the knot.
yaah i did that a few times
I can barely tie 4 pound mono! I don't think I could tie 1 or 2 pound mono.
yah it is not fun to have to re tie
Way to thin for me, I have used 3lb but don’t think I could ever do 1lb
now that i have tried it im probably going to take it off and put on 2 lb. i did recently buy some 3 lb and have been wanting to try it out
Creek Fishing Adventures it was a awesome vid, I was cringing on every hook set and the whole time you were fighting every fish in.
@@EddieLindsay681 so was i, i dont think i will be fishing with that set up very much, unless i just want to catch some tiny fish
