I'm so glad Uncle Jessy shared this. Glad to see someone else doing for the most part the same process as I do. Makes me feel like I'm doing it right cause that came out amazing! Great job!
Great work. I do a similar technique with my automotive blade putty. The hand work with wet sanding is always worth it. Look forward to your next video.
Great tip. Right now I have a printed part I want to make a mold from so I can cast more, and this trick is just what I was looking for to smooth the part before I make the mold. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and the needler looks awesome too. Great job.
@@MNPROPS2 I don't, to be honest i didn't think people would be interested in seeing my pieces... I do it because i love the hobby and if someone can learn something from my mistakes, bonus all around! Do you think i should create one?
Kyle Guillory Yes i think you should. Like you i love this hobby too. And i'm sure many people would be interested to see you stuff. You can find some interesting people on instagram and share ideas and technics or simply new builds to make. trust me, it's worth it.
Another hot tip for preventing your sandpaper from clogging up is to wet sand with a few drops of dish soap added to a jar of water. Dip your paper in there every few minutes to keep it clean and lubricated. Be sure to get sandpaper that is built for wetsanding though.
Freaking amazing project man! I actually use the putty over pretty much my whole piece as well, it works great. The only problem is it stinks like hell when you use that much. Glad I found your channel. Liked and subbed.
Just found your chanle today and love your work. It's really refreshing to find genuinely useful advice and tips. This build came out amazing and I look forward to seeing more from You in the future. Also I don't know if I missed it but did you say where you found this model?
Bondo is great for large gaps, holes and cracks, it's not really meant for thin light work like smoothing. That spot putty is great stuff, but I wouldn't recommend it for filling large seams or holes, it is fragile and doesn't take much for it to crack and flake if it's to think or heavy.
I just tried this and it's great! But is there anyway to get the Bondo off the sandpaper? I've used a lot of sandpaper by now for such a small part. I tried flicking it and used a razor blade to it and that partially worked. Other than that great tutorial!
Excellent video man! I'm watching along as im sanding down my master chief helmet. When do you plan on releasing the painting video? I'm curious to see your process
Thanks joe, I've been busy lately (life happens) but I've got a video I want to put out on my paint process. Keep an eye out for it! Thanks for the kind words
Hey man! Would you be able to print me a Needler (no paint etc, just need the parts printed) ? I am trying to get all my groomsman their fav. Halo weapon as gifts and I cannot find a decent priced one anywhere.
I don't really do commissions because I really don't have the time. I work full time and really do this for me a a hobby. But I will say that 3d printers have come down in price quite a bit. So it might be worth getting one!
WARNING: You ABSOLUTELY need to wear a respirator when doing all the things he is doing. Especially with Bondo. You need gloves and respirator. DO NOT HANDLE with your hands Bondo and not wear a respirator. I hope people see this message and don't follow this guys example.

Looks amazing. What type of paint did you use to get the metallic finish?

Did you ever cover the painting process? I couldn't find a video covering your painting process on this.
try elmers wood filler but not hand spread it instead water it down and shoot it through a paint gun or airbrush
When you add the first putty and sand it then throw on the filler again do you sand it after or do you just throw the second coat of putty on ?
Putty then sand again
Is there a download for this?
