So first hand experience, real story! I originally purchased my first AP at Westime when they were an AP AD i bought an offshore, with the promise of a RO. However a few months later AP decided to remove them and solely sell their watches from AP boutiques. I was upset about it and tried to speak to the manager seemed like it made it worse lol i was called by a regional allocator won’t say his name and he interviewed me over the phone for about 45 min. It was almost a job interview intensity. I remember him asking what watches were in my collection? Where do i see myself in the next 5/10 years. How do you make a living etc…. After the interview he said be patient. So i still showed up to the AD a few times i really wanted a Rose Royal Oak on a bracelet! After a 8 months or so Xmas time they called me to the boutique. Offered me a Rose RO on a strap but i wanted it on a bracelet, salesperson tried to sell me the bracelet seperate (conversion) But the watch ref would be a strap i kindly declined and said i want it factory bracelet please…. I didn’t get called for almost 3 years i had given up on them. I figured maybe since i declined a watch they just black listed me whatever….Out of the blue the sales assoc called and said hey we didn’t forget..And finally got my gold RO on a bracelet. 100% they look you up they see what your about it’s their brand and it’s key for them to have the proper person wearing their product. It’s not an openworked or jumbo however i’ve never seen anyone wearing my watch and i appreciate that. When i wear my Rolex i will see 15 people or so wearing my or similar watches But the AP i still haven’t seen one person wearing a Rose RO on a bracelet and i appreciate that 😅 sorry for the rant
Thanks for the video. I went through 3 different AP House in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong to see if it is possible to express my interest, build a relationship and buy AP C11.59 or ROO. It is tough to get a timepiece but the experience is awesome including the education on AP history and their models. Hope to land an AP timepiece one day.
AP is the finest in entire swiss its finishing or level very hard any other brand to reach even I found Patek Philippe not as good finished as AP but I feel bad their range is very limited or no much versions
I’m interested in an AP but I’ve not had great experiences when going for Rolex’s from ADs. I find they act quite condescending towards me as I’m only 21. I’ve had one dealer basically tell me I can’t afford it which I found was extremely rude. I assume AP will be similar but even worse

How times have changed in 1999 I bought my first AP a Chronograph, 39mm dark gray dial, it's on my wrist now. I bought the AP from a prominent certified AP dealer in Greenwich Conn. I got a 30% discount at the time and yes it was a new watch. When AP and so many other watch brands starting opening their own boutiques they lost their dealership. The same thing happened to my Rolex dealer in NJ after she had spent $400,000.00 to modify her store to Rolex's specifications, these companies are ruthless to the point I simply don't buy anything.
The main reason it’s impossible for me to get it is it’s an ugly overpriced piece of steel and I am uninterested 😀😀😀they would be lucky to get my money not the other way around. Respect yourself!
The UK is the worst country to buy an AP. Just go overseas or buy it for a premium if you really want it. If you’re buying an AP paying more than retail shouldn’t be a problem for you unless it’s 3 times retail which is rare.
Basically to ego stroke, for snobs and insecure folks Its for all luxury brands. Paying 500 for a normal hoodie with a lV or chrome logo on it still blows my mind. At least watches hold their values
I went through the whole vetting process I was told I had to start somewhere and to get an offshore first. When the call came I said nope I’m not buying a watch I don’t like and will take a 5K hit on. Since then I’ve been ignored. Fml 🤦🏻♂️
But you will always know and say to yourself in the back of your mind that you're wearing a fake watch. You're an imposter, a fraud. Seeking recognition from a prestigious brand that you haven't earned the right to represent (which is why you wear a fake)
Are you talking about the moral standards of same AP who did a made to order 25 limited edition perpetual calendars for Anant Ambani not necessarily because he's such an enthusiast but merely because he's rich and is having a lavish wedding!
Great video, I appreciate the effort put to create it. However I do disagree with AP (Rolex, Vacheron, Patek) policy that is full of shit, as they do not do any vetting as if they were do that there would be no more flippers, just passionate buyers that “meet” the brands image, but my educated guess is that dealers are hand and hand with their friends /family/ grey market who they allocate the watches and they split the profit. Their policy simply adds a middle men and creates/maintains this hype and is a buyers are being incredibly stupid to fall for it (I already purchased overpriced watches from grey market :) )
Stunning watches, but the luxury brand approval experience is contrived AF. It’s for people who are a little plastic in substance. I’d rather a normal transaction and buy grey market.
There are two problems with the APRO: 1. It is almost too iconic, and as a result most of the ones you see around are counterfeit. This takes away from aspirability, ownership status or watch snobbery that watch people enjoy. It is very common in any place where legitimately wealthy people or poseurs gather. 2. The watch is so popular that it will eventually go out of fashion, which will kill resale values and deeply wound the AP brand (which is too reliant on one model line). 15-20 years ago, wearing an APRO was pretty cool, especially the non Offshore versions. Now, it almost feels gauche. It’s not a watch that commands as much respect among watch people anymore. Any overly tattooed Instagram clown or his Russian girlfriend wears one now (real or fake).
AP Rolex prices have dropped 40 percent god forbid there’s a downturn in the economy look out AP and Rolex they’ll be calling you soon enough Buyer beware!!!
Sounds like AP are absolute Pss takers. Made me not want to even attempt to buy one after watching this video. And the thing about “I would do the same” about AP vetting customers is a load of waffle. Someone wants to buy your product and they have the money to do it. The customer doesn’t need to kiss your ass for you to sell them it. Proof of this is the fact you can literally buy an AP on the grey market, they can’t control any of that. Total bollocks, anyway … thanks for the info 😂
AP sales associates are snakes. They will try to get you to Zelle 5k to them personally and after doing that several times and making you buy 3 watches to get one RO they can and will decide to just cut you off. It completely turned me off the brand as a whole.
It is hard enough for me to visit the AP house when I need to send my watch in for service. I lose my patience after waiting for the person in a lab coat to do the pre-service check. I will not buy from them again. I can buy my own champagne. I posit that only flippers are incentivized enough to go through this buying process. Wealthy end users do not have time for this.
Phil, you’re being very disingenuous. On one hand you’re advising people to be “kind, honest, inquisitive, polite “ when going to a Rolex or AP AD. Yet, you’re the one who fraudulently and deliberately dishonestly claimed to be a doctor when buying a Rolex from an AD !! Disgusting behaviour.
You can have an educational qualification that has a doctorate which makes you a doctor. Not necessarily in a medical field. As the sales staff are projecting a friendly image as they pry into all aspects of your background they aren't exactly being open about their motives although their motives are obvious, so if you describe yourself as a doctor because you have a doctorate in engineering you are being just as honest as they are.
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of AMZWATCH's watch 99% of people will never see.
I’m interested in an AP but I’ve not had great experiences when going for Rolex’s from ADs. I find they act quite condescending towards me as I’m only 21. I’ve had one dealer basically tell me I can’t afford it which I found was extremely rude. I assume AP will be similar but even worse
Always know that when you’re walking into a boutique you’re more successful than any of their sales associates. Be proud of your amazing achievement to be able to afford one at 21!
@@Colonel.B.Sanders I appreciate that.
@@Colonel.B.Sandersyea right, the audacity of these retail sales merchants to be judging anyone who can afford a 10-20-30 grand watch is beyond obscure.
2 years after the bubble top and some Brands didn't learn a damn thing
AP has one big problem.. they increased the list prices in the last 5 years like no one. Without a real justification… same very small movements compared to the size, not much innovation and irritating + 2many „limited“ editions. For what it's worth, I didn't feel it was overly complicated here in Texas. I went in, was polite, got a wonderful education, and then stayed in touch. I showed my AD I could clearly afford the watch and what my game plan was. He was communicative and eventually after about a year or so (stopping by 3-4 times along the way) I got the call to get my first AP Offshore. Hope to get a Royal Oak next which I think is in the cards. I love my Offshore!
Gotta had in to AP they sell you a bunch of watches you didn't really want in the hopes of buying the watch you actually want and make you think that they're doing you a favor.
Outstanding video.I have to go with the AMZWATCH, especially with that green dial as my favorite
As always the most thoughtful , well researched & eloquent watch channel around , MAMACOO keep coming !
I have the 26331OR chocolate dial & the 15400OR but I’m still waiting on a steel blue or green chronograph Royal Oak after 2 years.
Don’t know if you are aware but AP House London is moving from new bond st. to a new site with a rooftop terrace in the very near future.
Basically the store manager was my neighbour and I got the watch one my first visit to AP
I've lived in Hong Kong for over thirty years, and in 2016, decided to buy an AP, RO, OS QEII Cup Chronograph Limited Edition in Rose Gold and Forged Carbon, and so, one morning just walked into the AP Headquarters in Central .... They had only one of the watches I so longed for .... So to cut a long story short, walked out of the shop 30 minutes later; one million Hong Kong dollars less than I had earlier .... On reflection .... Still a beautiful watch .... The finish and workmanship are second to none .... Accurate to two seconds a day .... And now my wife has broken her bank and has recently bought her own AP so it's all together for us both .... Cheers ....

How come they are selling on Amazon, if the sales are controlled
Lol you mean copies are on amazon not the real thing lol
Made an appointment at the Milan AP house while my wife and I were there and we walked out with two watches. They were very sweet and hospitable.
genuine question.... why did you place the watches crown down? (greatvideo otherwise)
Ever since I bought a watch from MAMACOO, My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
You have to buy a bunch of code and ladies watches
This inspired me to go on-line and write them a paragraph. Let’s just say I hope the person reading it wasn’t easily offended. Let’s just say it explained why Casio watches were better in every way
can you also post it here for AP owner entertainment? :D and I hope your main point wasn't that Casio is cheaper :D
I went to Harrods about 18 months back. All very nice and cosy. Registered for a gold Royal Oak, black face leather strap. Can’t remember the 50 odd digit model number. Heard nothing since. If I get the call, great. If I don’t, great… 😊
Outstanding video.I have to go with the MAMACOO, especially with that green dial as my favorite
I went into the main one without an appointment - got offered 3 watches on the same day after been there for an hour 🤷🏻♂️
@lamedonmcborough3255 Two offshores and a code 11.59
Code 11.59 precious metal
Yeah course you did…
Were they all the shit models no one wanted to buy?
I visited AP boutique in Las Vegas in Q1 2024. No appointment. They didn’t want to let me in. Eventually they did. They made it clear I’d need to develop a relationship over 7 to 10 visits over years before I’d be potentially eligible to buy a watch. Get real. I’ll never buy an AP from an AD. Bunch of snots.
But how do you build relationship without being able to buy a watch?
So go in and kiss their ass....then they will "allow" you to buy a watch? GTFOH with that BS! (the AD)
@@HenryLaw19891024you have to take the sales person out to dinner 😂
Buy a couple of Code 11.59 and a couple of offshores then maybe a plain Jane regular steel Royal Oak 41mm with white/grey/black dial.

So sick of sucking up to the these certain watch companies AP,Rolex,Patek
I’m spending my hard earned money and want what I want when I want it so many other great watch brands that I can actually walk in and buy a beautiful watch without having to suck up to the sales person and telling me sorry we don’t have anything but you can put your name on the list and we’ll call you when we get one in of which they rarely due. Thousands of other great brands people wake up
IWC,Cartier,Breitling,Omega, Christopher Ward, Panerai and Tag Huer and on and on. Case Closed.
Who are you? Why would they want you as a customer? People who whine aren't exactly their target market. They can sniff that out.
Crazy how all these watch brands were giving out discounts back then, I’ve heard similar about Rolex in the early 2000s.
@@remmymartinnn7092 Here's a dirty secret: Rolex ADs still give discounts, and they did throughout the pandemic. You just have to be in with them.
I can appreciate the time piece without being blinded by the scummy business practices...
Will never buy a watch with a vetting process. Can’t be asked………..
I believe you.
The waiting list is 3 years I'm sure they'll be alright without your money.
Can Drugdealers pass background check easily?
Yes. Jayz got one

The watch Market is dead, gray market dealers are scrambling in the states to off load watches. It’s getting bad here.

Reward !? we pay for it man - its radicullous
Please spellcheck.
I went through the process recently let's see what happens, they asked me to regularly show interest in AP, not quite sure what is meant I do.
So, if you don’t have all those childish social media accounts, and cant trace you on Google, what then?
The main reason it’s impossible for me to get it is it’s an ugly overpriced piece of steel and I am uninterested 😀😀😀they would be lucky to get my money not the other way around. Respect yourself!
The UK is the worst country to buy an AP. Just go overseas or buy it for a premium if you really want it.
If you’re buying an AP paying more than retail shouldn’t be a problem for you unless it’s 3 times retail which is rare.
Went into New Bond Street in London, they were great and could have bought one on the day
A perfect example of managed scarcity as a marketing technique. I'm amazed anyone falls for this to be honest.
Basically to ego stroke, for snobs and insecure folks
Its for all luxury brands. Paying 500 for a normal hoodie with a lV or chrome logo on it still blows my mind. At least watches hold their values
You should create your own brand, build hype, and have them available for everyone. Great idea!
I’m just getting into the watch scene but this watch looks like a $20 Walmart watch I don’t get why it’s so expensive
I love your videos keep up the great work
I went through the whole vetting process I was told I had to start somewhere and to get an offshore first. When the call came I said nope I’m not buying a watch I don’t like and will take a 5K hit on. Since then I’ve been ignored. Fml 🤦🏻♂️
Buy a used one
Not worth the hassle at all. Not a big fan of the overhyped AP. Clasp construction is not the best imo and no micro adjustments in the bracelet.. 🥴
3:50 Great reason why I will never buy an AP. Even though the ceramic versions perpetual calender look cool
My super clone looks identical and is a fraction of the cost lol
But you will always know and say to yourself in the back of your mind that you're wearing a fake watch. You're an imposter, a fraud. Seeking recognition from a prestigious brand that you haven't earned the right to represent (which is why you wear a fake)
Fr I’m bout to cop it for 1300$
Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the AMZWATCH’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Who puts up with this bs just to get a watch
Watch Goblins.
Watch gobblers more like

My sentiments exactly.
Love AP, their watches are so beautiful
God!!! AMZWATCH Who would have thought those gorgeous watches go for that low!!!
Are you talking about the moral standards of same AP who did a made to order 25 limited edition perpetual calendars for Anant Ambani not necessarily because he's such an enthusiast but merely because he's rich and is having a lavish wedding!
Deserve? Deserve ain't got nothin to do with it.
this all seems quite silly imo
Great video, I appreciate the effort put to create it. However I do disagree with AP (Rolex, Vacheron, Patek) policy that is full of shit, as they do not do any vetting as if they were do that there would be no more flippers, just passionate buyers that “meet” the brands image, but my educated guess is that dealers are hand and hand with their friends /family/ grey market who they allocate the watches and they split the profit. Their policy simply adds a middle men and creates/maintains this hype and is a buyers are being incredibly stupid to fall for it (I already purchased overpriced watches from grey market :) )
I saw one sitting in the used section at my local watch store.
Stunning watches, but the luxury brand approval experience is contrived AF. It’s for people who are a little plastic in substance. I’d rather a normal transaction and buy grey market.
When it comes to fine imitation watches, amzwatch delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
The word "Impossible" gets thrown around way too often on Social Media.
Just as well I do not like AP at all. This is insane if it is true??
AP Rolex prices have dropped 40 percent god forbid there’s a downturn in the economy look out AP and Rolex they’ll be calling you soon enough
Buyer beware!!!
What you just explained around @7:30 to @8:00 is called Antitrust
That’s why replica over original. You can say whatever you want but are just excuses, if I want something I should be able to have it if I pay.
3 AP's resting on the crown - hurts my heart.
When the economy tanks they open the doors and discount there product significantly.
AP sales associates are snakes. They will try to get you to Zelle 5k to them personally and after doing that several times and making you buy 3 watches to get one RO they can and will decide to just cut you off. It completely turned me off the brand as a whole.
Fourth dimension is so expensive and in demand and difficult to get imagine the 5th 6th etc❤❤
So, AP will judge a book by its cover and will not sell you a watch if you don’t fit their image of an ideal owner.
It aint anymore bro.
The muppet boiler room secondary grey luxury watch market is dead
No, it's not. You gotta do what you gotta do. If ADs are playing dirty tell them whatever you have to
You can have an educational qualification that has a doctorate which makes you a doctor. Not necessarily in a medical field. As the sales staff are projecting a friendly image as they pry into all aspects of your background they aren't exactly being open about their motives although their motives are obvious, so if you describe yourself as a doctor because you have a doctorate in engineering you are being just as honest as they are. As long as you are calm and friendly as you respond to their impertinent questions then it's all good.
@@philjones352 So what was your PhD in ? Presumably you are saying that you were not lying when you told them that you were a doctor? I'm a doctor in medicine - so whether you were pretending to be my type of doctor - or any other type of doctor, that is immoral and dishonest.
@@JohnnyL20 No bud. Not everyone lives in your country, or has to conform to your personal interpretation of what a doctor is.
You're assuming I told a dealer was a doctor, try reading the actual words I used. Have a good one.
I been buying AP for years back when they had AD’s… The resale was always shit. Lost money on every AP I ever owned. Now they expect us to Sniff their arrogant holes and waste time for multiple visits? Let’s see just how long this model lasts… anytime I have visited the boutique in Miami when in the area the staff is so arrogant it makes me sick… They still need to sell pieces to stay in business now more than ever with more corporate boutiques to support. If I really wanted a certain model, I would just go gray instead of playing this stupid game trying to make friends. Who has the time for that shit over a watch?
So why do so many z list celebs own one? Chavvy footballers, rappers….not doing a very good job of vetting in my opinion.
Just go up in there after you’ve booked your appointment and tell them that ArchieLuxury taught you everything you know about luxury timepieces.
