Scene level is usually the last thing that I adjust in my presets. First I dial in all scenes and when I am done I adjust the scene level to prevent large volume differences.

That isn't how I do it, but I think yours is the way it should be done. I should change.

Great advice especially for live scenarios. Appreciate it!

Great playing as always, JNC! As others have likely pointed out I adjust the drive level so that I don't have huge jumps - the same as when I'm using a pedal board. Then adjust the scene volumes and/or setup another block for a boost.

I have to say the tones you dial in on Fractal are really fantastic, JNC.

I love that you're discovering this, reminds me of when I started using the scene levels. Mostly I use it at 2 or 3db for solo boost.

Yep - exactly how I build my Axe FX II XL+ presets!

Nice simple way of adjusting and I can see this being really helpful in a live setting, rather than going into the amp block parameters.

There's plenty of routes to get results with Fractals
Cliff and his team put together such well thought out units

I too only recently started using scene levels. I think it’s worth noting you’d have exactly the same problem kicking on a boost in front of a real amp set with high headroom. Cheers, D

I've been using scene levels for balancing and solo boosts forever. They are great for a volume boost for solos if you want the same sound, just louder in the mix for a solo and on the lower end units, the lack of noticeable CPU impact is a bonus.

A different means to a similar end; pop a compressor between your cab and delay. Level out your amp sounds so they round about hit your fx at a similar amplitude but not impede all of your dynamic range. Personally, I like to put a diy distressor in that spot.

Hi John. I purchased your Fractal Presets a long time ago. How is it possible to get an update?

Your a Busy Guy, we'll allow this little error. LOL. NICE PLAYING as always. Wow that is a BADASS sounding VOX, like one on Steroids. It is more like a Vox AC 50, which sounds like a Marshall Killer. See Tone Junkie for that one, he has presets.

The only problem I found with this approach is that the levels from the other outputs are not copied from output 1. If you want to send an output to an on stage eg FRFR you have to manually input them into the other output scene levels...

I use Output 1 to send to my back line FRFR cab and use Copy OUT1 to OUT2 to send to FOH, and all my scene levels remain intact

Put the scene level control on a footswitch +2 db and save or /- 2 db save. Super handy for adjusting levels om the fly when playing with the band live or at rehearsel. Thanks to cooper Carter ua-cam.com/video/IMhXthU2rdY/v-deo.htmlsi=bnWVjbc_1cruI0iR

Forgive me addled brain if this is complete you-know-what but I don't think that solves the problem, John. Wasn't the intro suggestive that the problem was when you add your drive to your clean channel the volume goes up. If you drop the scene level that will lower the output volume of the whole scene - there will still be a difference between the clean sound and the drive sound. If you have clean and drive on separate scenes then it's easy to fix using scene levels yes, but I don't think that was the problem you were trying to solve...

    • @bripslag
      @bripslag 5 місяців тому

This works if you have separate scenes - one that uses the drive block and one that doesn't. If you're planning to just hit a footswitch and add a drive to a single scene, you'll still have the problem you describe.
