Awesome. I’ve been using this “talent knob” for a while with an expression pedal. Have two and one is dedicated to delay. Allows me to adjust on the fly and is extremely helpful indoors since every room is different and easy for a preset to have way too much. Being able to instantly dial in with my foot is a must.
I really wish the FM3 and Quad Cortex had a baby. I've tried the FM3 and I threw everything i got at it, guitar speakers, FRFR, combinations etc but I just couldn't make it sound as good as my tube amps. But man, the connectivity with the FC foot pedals. The effects. The possibilities like int this video. It's all amazing. And then I got the Quad Cortex and it is plug and play. First preset first amp and I'm just already there and I love it. But the routing is so limited, the power adapter is aweful. So yeah, I'm staying with the QC for now since it sounds better to my ears. But I REALLY wish I had gotten there with the FM3 because I like the unit and its capabilities far more.
Good stuff CC I still enjoy and reference your axefx3 course It’s a complicated box and those lessons are great as are all the included patches I use the Rigs of Powah that you tough us to build for small live venues through the PA So now I’ll add this talent knob idea to one of my Mission pedals for solo boosting Gotta hit the FC-12 section soon and learn all that stuff But I’m glad that you still allow acccess to the course But still using my old half stack tube rigs for larger shows especially outside then the fractal becomes my FX processor
Great tutorial ! This is what Ive been missing ! (both the talent and the modifiers) I feel like I really understnd this much better now. I dont know why I had not considered setting up multiple items in this manner. Though it could take a bit of time to set up for mere mortals. There seem to be infinite possibilities and mind is swimming with too many ideas.
Take a little time and play with it a bit. I have most of my presets using an expression pedal for my main method of switching sounds around, since it works so smoothly. It was an easy old habit to slip back into from the Quadraverb2 days, when it was the only way to change up your sound without changing presets and getting the dreaded gap in sound while the thing rearranged its brain. In Fractal land, it's MUCH more powerful than back in the "dirt was rocks" era....
awesome tutorial as always , just a note though , at 14:38 the ms delay on the L side might be set to 666 ..... i can hear Jasons call from Friday 13th when you check it with the chunks
Great info here. Thank you Cooper. if you have several presets (with basically the same block layouts), can you globally copy the modifiers you make over to each preset?? I am guessing not, but worth the question 😀
this here is really the under-the-hood magic of the fractal ecosystem. Im working on a preset with similar control mindset, centered around a Tom Sholz Boston first album lead tone, that ramps in 2 part harmonies, bumps the eq a tad, etc. All into the expression pedal as youve done here. Hard (or impossible) to do with other effect processors. Interestingly, I have a Boss GT-100, that has the ability to do this kind of control as well. I just dont really like the 'Boss' sound. The fractal models are way way better. In relation to that, i'm also trying to figure out a way to mimic the hyperspace effect tom created. If you have any ideas, please feel free to point me in right direction :) Thanks for the vid
Question on the compression speaker that you're adjusting. I have two tube amps which I play out loud going to output 3 before the cab. I use headphones when the family is home and doesn't want to be disturbed and at night time. Before changing the output 3 with the tube amps, I set the amp block from FRFR to SS Poweramp and turn the compression off. Should I go back and turn the compression back on because I'm using the headphones?
Another great video @coopercarter with some inspiring ideas. One question though - once you have assigned a modifier to a parameter, doesn't that prevent manual adjustment? For example, if you assigned bass, middle, treble and gain controls on an amp block to a modifier (as in your video), would that prevent me from adjusting them "manually" when "double tapping" the "A" knob on my FM9 to quickly access the amp settings? If so, is there a workaround?
Yes, it ties the knob to the range set by the Min and Max knobs. The workaround is to learn the front panel interface well enough to get into the modifier settings to adjust them.
Which unit IYHO is the Best, Fractal III, Kemper, the new little square box ( name I keep forgetting) Quad Cortex that's it. LOL The Fractal looks intimidating to me.
Axe Fx is the best. I had one and sold it purely because of the form factor. Now i own a Quad cortex. Axe FX updates regulary, sounds killer and the possibilities are endless. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want it. The QC updates are sooo bloody slow and when they do come not many things are added. Fractal products just seem to get better and better whilst it seems like the QC is a forgotten product. Fractal is easy enough to learn even for someone like me who has no patience for endless tweaking. Even though im a quad cortex user, i'd recommend the fractal units over it. And skip the kemper, its crap in comparison to both of them.
I think it’s really down to the ears of the beholder, so to speak. I ended up using the FM9 because it felt better than the other modellers out there. I’ve used Helix, Boss modellers and the Quad Cortex and honestly, the sounds are all pretty good so it all came down to feel. To me, the FM9 has a certain something that appeals but is difficult to quantify or define. If you’re looking to get into Fractal products, you can’t go wrong with the FM3.
Amazing power of modifiers! Thanks Cooper!
Wow...just when you think you've seen it all...this is pretty amazing!! TONS of possibilities!!

Unbelievable power! Thank you for sharing this knowledge!
had fractal products for more than 10 years now....and still amazed at the possibilities....really...now i just wished i could use it live...
Great video thanks much
Massive set of pointers. Thanks!!
I loved seeing that even with all those blocks added, the cpu usage was at around 36%.
That's incredible on Fractal this is an engeneer tool...
Good stuff CC

Output Comp... WTH, this piece of gear never stops impressing me! I'll have to dig into the feedback setting too. 11:12
Thanks a lot!.Cooper Carter .✋🧑🎤

Wow first rate tips! Thanks!
Great info, Thanks!!!
Finally what I really need
Thanks a lot, another great video!
Very cool, thanks!
Thank you this helped me a lot

Greaaaaat video
Always enjoy your content. Question about your classes, do they get updated as new firmware is released with new features? Thanks!

I need this on a toggle switch on my guitar. Bluetooth perhaps?
Is there a limit for how many parameters you can assign to a "talent knob/pedal"?
There are 32 modifiers available, I have, on occasion, used all of them....
sick love the videos cooper they help alot
Right, that's it, I'm selling the pedalboard.

Anyone know how to set up "Pedal 1" output jack for an expression pedal?
Hi, Knut here from the Support Team. Great question! Please email us at support@g66.eu so I can assist you personally.
