Is this like calibrating monitors too with pink noise? In any case, I just subscribed!!!! Seems like this channel will help me tons!!! I'm new & have Studio One 3 artist 3.5. Thank you!
A bit different to that but pink noise can be used to do that also. This is for when your mixing more or less. I have more videos on the way about this pink noise idea. Thank you for the Sub also :)
Oh okay! Yes that's what I heard with the SPL meter or something... But really awesome!!! Can't wait for those pink noise mixing videos! I'd like to put out a track soon that is good sound quality. Wanna move on from beginner/newbie sound quality tracks/songs lol.
Yep I remember that feeling all to well. Well hopefully you can learn some good stuff from my tutorials, I'm sure you will. check out some of my other videos too to see what I've covered so far. One major tip I can give you straight away is mixing in mono and using lower volumes when doing this.
CROSSBEATS MUSIC PRODUCTION Dude it's really pretty awesome to see that a fellow musicians donates time like this. I can also remember being so eager to put out great tracks, and now almost 17 years into this I still learn every day. Sometimes I'm just rusty, so I pop on here and watch your techniques. Much love for what you do, and why you do it. I do think it would be cool for your listeners that like the analog side of things to see and hear the difference between plugins and DAW and see how the analog gear works. I'm happy to contribute if you'd like to collaborate on something like that
That would be excellent to have that type of collab, hit me on email so we can talk more about that!
Just WOW. This "trick" really does work. I was really struggling with a particular mix and having all sorts of frequencies vying for attention in my composition - I tried this and BAM - it sounds fantastic! Can master it now with confidence (and I have been doing this since the days of having Cubase on an Atari in the early 90s!).
You can hear this method in action here: soundcloud.com/22112008/make-me-a-vvitch
+Tim Spencer Hey I really appreciate the comment, and letting me know. Its great to have feedback about other people's experience.!
nice track dude
You just got a new subscriber. I posted this question in the S1 user forum recently and your tutorial just answered some of my main questions about pink noise mixing. Thanks keep up the good work..Geddy
+Geddy Costello Thats awesome man thank you, Its great to know it helped. More on the way about this topic!
Nice tutorial, I found it really usefull so you´ve got a new subsciber. Thanks for sharing !
You're welcome, and thank you
Does this replace the previous method of your pink noise mixing (solo individual tracks with pink noise playing)?
It doesn't replace it's just another tool/option to try.
I've also read that while one is using a sound level meter app which is free to download, the pink noise should be set between 75db for a small room and 85db for a large room. Holding the phone in your normal listening position. Or do you just set your studio monitor speakers at a comfortable volume. I know this may be a dumb question but I thought I would ask. Thanks..Geddy
Geddy Costello Hey not a dumb question. Rule of thumb for me is I can just hear the volume enough to make decisions on the mix what I mean by that is I could hold a normal conversation whilst mixing and not have to raise my voice. close to 75db level.
How i open pink noise on my atudio one please help🙂

bless up like the vibes, how do you get the line to stay across the spectrum without the pink noise going.
rasta wizdom On the spectrum meter it has the button that says "hold" at the bottom. Click it to on.
what is this monotoring channel at the very right of studio one? is this a part of studio one?
Hans Leitgeb That's the UAD console.
great video
im looking for a teacher. hit me up if your interested. maybe you can tell me what the hell im doing wrong,
onpoint1180 there's not a wrong or right way, just your way and everyone else's way.
+onpoint1180 Hi what exactly are you trying to learn mixing, mastering, etc? And what type of music is it you work with ?
+j readdy exactly there is no rule to mixing thats for sure :)
CROSSBEATS MUSIC PRODUCTION right.
Everytime i try this pink noise trick the thing ends up squirting at me, What can i do to prevent this .... looool ... :D
Too convoluted, stick to the topic, you are all over the place. It's a discipline usually learned in high school and higher education, didn't you go to school or college? Low end and pink noise, not headroom and everything else you wasted people's time on.
don't pay attention to those assholes...They talk as they're paying you for this service... ;)
@@CrossbeatsMusicProduction Seriously, Dude, @ You Went Off Topic, No Need To Get Defensive 🙄
