Solid review! I like that you spent more time demonstrating the guitars' sound than any other review I've found, and somehow you've made it sound better. Definitely deserves more views, but you're digging your own grave with a 6 minute intro that could've been
Thank you for tuning in & leaving a comment!! I appreciate your critique on the intro & I never realized that I take that long to do the intro haha. But I’ll work on that in future videos!! Thanks, again! 😁🤘
Thank you for your review man! I just bought one and needed an honest genuine hands on review with unplugged sound so I could quench my thirst to use this thing. People always mentioned the Ukelele sound and in this video I got to hear the raw tone.
Beautifully looking and sounding piece, and a smooth review! You covered pretty much everything. I loved your jamming and the smartly done sound comparison.
I would say it’s not a good “first acoustic” as it’s a weird in between of a normal acoustic and a classical so it really plays quite differently than a normal acoustic. I picked this up as an easier to use classical with the slimmer body and slimmer nut width to give me more casual access to playing on nylon strings without needing to pull out my foot stool and get in proper form to use my classical. So I guess it really depends on your thoughts on nylon strings.
@@yongyea4147 you likely can but could cause issues, steel strings add a lot more tension to the neck so could need to adjust the truss rod if you switched it over and the action would probably need adjusting. Also no guarantee the neck is spec’d to hold the steel string tension. Edit after looking at the bridge it also utilizes “tie on” strings so I’m not sure you can get the steel strings on correctly without changing the bridge style
I hear that the intonation problems are rather common in the tod10n, I would probably assume that this is the case because 1. The strings are pretty awful and could be changed 2. The popularity of this guitar is insane, so they are probably trying to get as many as they can out as fast as possible, thus leading to flaws 3. The truss could be adjusted 4. Its a nylon classical at heart, and many classical nylons have high strings in order to avoid fret buzzing, classical guitarists want the most pure notes possible, so they raise the action to an almost uncomfortable point so it sounds better. Best you could do is take the nut out and file it down, then glue it back in
You don’t seem to know what intonation is and are confusing intonation ( how closely the guitar stays in tune with fretted notes) with relief (bend in the neck) and action (height of the strings).
I'm sure this is a geat guitar. But other similar size nylon electrics exist too. I have a Yamaha AEX500N (no longer made) and I agree with this post that it is very comfortable to play compared with a larger acoustic. Sort of like a nylon string Les Paul. That was pretty much my only reason for buying it. My Yamaha has a bolt on neck which I prefer so I can disassemble it for travel inside my suitcase. Plus I can shim the neck if needed.
Wonderful Guitar! I owned a similar: Fender Stratacustic, but it laked in quality control. This Ibanez seems to be a very cool Guitar! Greets from Italy
Hey awesome video! I'm getting my ibanez krys 10 soon and I'll make an unboxing, I'm curious what's the song from minute 7:28 in your demo? It's very catchy haha
Awesome!! I’ll be sure to check out your unboxing video when you drop it! That’s actually one of my originals haha. I’m glad you enjoyed! Thank you for tuning in & leaving a comment!! 😁🤘
Yeah, unfortunately that’s because of the intonation! Thank you for tuning in & leaving a comment 😁🤘 Don’t forget to subscribe & like this video if you enjoyed it!!
@Rockefeller1 Thank you for your honesty. Already subscribed, great content) What may cause this issue related to intonation? Is it possible to fix it? Bc I would not content myself with this intonation on guitar((( Do you think Ibanez is aware of this thing?
@@goodyyy6171 I appreciate it!! Im betting that it’s the bridge & action that’s causing the intonation to be off, so I plan on shaving the bridge down a bit to lower the action one of these days haha & yeah it can be fixed!
Man, I have to say that from all the reviews I saw yours is the more neutral and thorough! Great idea on letting some time pass after the unboxing and in my opinion your “nitpicking” is not nitpick at all! These are things as they are and should also be highlighted! I was wondering when someone was going to mention how bad the position of the electronics was so poorly chosen...it’s basic and you see it straight away...like the old idea of having the knobs or pickup switch right on the way of your picking hand on electric guitars...I feel that the string height was done because low action would make the unplugged sound very damp and thin...And you were on point how to sidestep the intonation situation but intonation problems on acoustic instrument that is also a signature guitar?? That’s a big no! QC on this should have be very sparse due to the huge demand. Lastly I have a recommendation for you😌when you do grades from 1 to 10, do it but always forget the 7. The 7 is that number that it’s no good and it’s not bad...so if you take out the 7 it forces you to make a stand and to really think and choose between: hey it’s worth it or hey it might not work😉 Thank you for taking the time to do this, you have great chops and keep it up! All the best Rockefeller ✌🏻
Yeah, the intonation & action were my only 2 big complaints on it (but with your take on the high action, & the reason behind it, I think I'd give it somewhat of a pass haha) & the electronic placement was a bit meh, but they for sure could've placed it better. I appreciate you tuning in, & giving your thoughts on the review, & the rating system! Taking out that 7 would definitely change things up haha. Hope to see ya around! 😁🤘
The electronics were probably positioned with someone wearing the guitar on a strap as opposed to sitting. Seems like Ibanez could have shifted it down a bit more towards the bend in the middle, just before it curves. 1-2 inches makes a huge difference. Most guitarists arms tend to land right where they put it. If they had to put it there for some reason, then it should have been made with much lower profile knobs. I wonder if the knobs are easily removable and can be replaced. I bet someone with a good 3D printer can sell replacements for a few bucks if the knobs can in fact be removed. I think a very low profile knob with a little divot on the top/sides and perhaps a rubberized texture would be ideal, but even a plastic one would likely make a huge difference.
Hi I am a fan of music I found your channel regarding the TOD 10 you got. I have a few questions if you have any time and would respond so by this time it’s been several months and would you recommend getting this guitar I need a new guitar hahahaha I see you have an Ovation in your collection I want this TOD10 but don’t need it. I have two Ovations and one Yamaha and one off brand that was a gift for buying a box of strings and it plays amazing and three electric guitars. One of my questions is how’s the action on your video you said it’s a little bit high on my Ovation there’s are shims i removed one so when you change your strings check under the bridge if there’s any shims. My question is about the neck compadres to your Ovation. I see a little thicker but maybe not as thick as a normal classical guitar. I am going to hunt one down to play. One more thing you are amazing artist keep jamming out I will continue to keep watching you thank you. If you’re not able to respond I understand. Thank you. JoP
