Anyway, according to some netizen opinion, exclusion elk=elkie joke and using Birth of Venus to describe public aesthetic is a sudden born/something imposed on a person without natural beauty, the white elk and black sheep also have double sided meaning. @@tiandiburong That's interesting, I never thought of the "black sheep of the family" idea. I saw them as rams, which symbolise strength, leadership and power, but because they get smashed at the end, it makes more sense that it's a resistance to what they represent.

Thank you thank you thank you for reviewing this. Post watch edit: Nobody does girl crush better. The lyrics are awesome. The double or triple meanings across languages is creative. Btw PD, you’re talking about Seungyeon! She’s the main dancer and one of the dancers of the group along Yujin. The one you said was Seunghee who is a vocal queen 🙌🏻 Seungyeon is PHENOMENAL! She has an amazing stage presence and is one of the best dancers in kpop (Atleast to me). Every month she releases a dance cover and they are definitely worth the watch 😍 she has definitely become my biaswrecker❤️
uhh the "painting" in front of seungyeon when she was inside that glass/acrylic box was actually aphrodite the goddess of beauty. it can't get any more straightforward than that lol. the implication was pretty bold but i truly loved that detail.
CLC's hobgoblin ep CRYSTYLE also has so many good b-sides! i'd love a reaction ofc but honestly this is just a recommendation for you to check it out in your own time
the girl you're saying is Seungyeon and damn she is phenomenal. her choreographies, esp when u follow her monthly choreos. her vibe, kinda gives me this hwasa vibe which i really really love. and yea, pretty much every cb since hobgoblin, she tends to show more as these types of songs and videos and concepts fits her perfectly.
I have a feeling that it's just become a common thing since "black dress", no matter who's your bias (or who you think can become your bias) in CLC - Seungyeon is there to bias-wreck you and test your loyalty!
There's a lot of symbolism in it that fits with their empowerment ethos - we're all beautiful from birth. The red, yellow and blue scheme fits with the colour wheel traditional in art, which plays into the aestheticism vibe, "art for art's sake." It really is a deep thing for kpop, so kudos for the best reaction video I've seen on it. I only came to them this year with No, my first foray into kpop, and their back catalog is blowing me away. I'm currently tripping on the Burt Bacharach vibe of Seventh. OK, it's not Aretha Franklin's Say a Little Prayer - what is? - but there's a quality and diversity of songwriting going on for this band that makes me love them.
PD, i don’t know if you’ve ever seen CLC’s “where are you” MV... it’s completely different than their girl crush concepts and so wasn’t very popular but I love it and the MV is honestly one of my favorites. Even if you don’t make a video about it, I feel like you’d appreciate that beautiful work of art(:
About that scene with Seungyeon behind the painting, I think it can be interpreted in sort of the complete opposite way. Instead of her being the embodiment of classical beauty like the painting, it could be that she is only being trapped by it. She's clearly stuck in that box with no way out besides breaking the glass. I think the scene was meant to show that CLC are beautiful but are being constricted by a sort of conservative idealism. They want to break out of it so they can be beautiful in their own way.
I loved this track. I feel like Black Dress and Hobgoblin hit you like a train but "ME" creeps up on you. My favourite part of the video is when their main "dance set" turned dark. I literally had goosebumps in that scene.
Seunghee is the girl with the red dress (short dark hair) shes the main vocalist but the girl u are talking about is Seungyeon shes Leader and main dancer (our dance machine with them thighs)
CLC started becoming one of my fave groups with their song I Like It. Something about the song really caught me so I'm glad their company is putting much effort into getting CLC the attention they deserve because of their talents.
Thank you for your reaction to CLC! I just fell in love with the song! Everything in my taste is bold, cool and stylish! I would VERY much like to see your reaction to Lee hi's most GORGEOUS ( for me) comeback with the title song No one (and if you have time for the whole album, it's just wonderful). This girl deserves attention.
The painting scene goes even more deep than that. The painting is of the Greek goddess, Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty. By being behind the painting it could mean two meanings. 1. She is the goddess of beauty. Or the one I think is more likey - 2. She is as beautiful as this goddess in her own. This is because later in the video, she is outside the glass case and the painting becomes covered in black, meaning that she does not have to be the same beautiful as society's standards are, instead be beautiful as herself. It's a very powerful message and my favorite scene.
Ice.Crunching Blueberry it’s my favorite too! There’s a lyric that goes “even the picture is not enough to describe me”. In the beginning, she’s trapped behind the image of very traditional beauty, just looking out through it. At the end, she’s standing proudly outside of it, free while the image is being destroyed by black paint. It’s really powerful but still feels mysterious.
You’re almost right with this, but it’s actually the painting “the birth of Venus” which is Venus the Roman goddess of sexuality and beauty (essentially Aphrodite’a Roman counterpart), just wanted to clear that up
I was waiting for your video reaction on this comeback. I knew there would be many things you could expand on. There were things I noticed, but couldn't put a finger on it. Watching this adds clarifies and opens up more of what I've thought about. Thank you!
The CLC members actually got to vote and pick which songs went on the No.1 album, first time they got to do that, hope Cube lets them do that again this next coming album.
What's even more powerful about the Seungyeon scene with the painting is that it is actually a painting of Venus the roman Goddess of beauty. So basically when the black liquid falls on Venus and Seungyeon is the one standing in front of it, it's like she's saying "I am beauty itself". A great message of self-confidence in my opinion.
T-Beter I heard in one of his other videos that some of his already filmed videos got deleted so maybe the reaction to clc’s album was also one of the video that got deleted ??
yes! finally someone talking about the play on words of 美!! its more of a “mei” (“may”) pronounciation rather than “me” but it can still sound pretty similar sometimes!
I was really looking forward to your reaction! CLC has been given a different level of love by CUBE lately, and I'm so happy for it.. I really loved this song and MV production. In particular, the darker lighting in the last set was soooo cool to me. They were GLOWING and glinting in that low light. And the blue of their outfits was still popping enough.. Just.. such a treat on the eyes!!!
You are probably referring to Seungyeon yeah ! The one behind the clear wall/glass. Going hard every time yeah ! She's a Queen tho. One of the best female dancer in K-POP in my opinion (you should watch her solo dances). So underrated tho.
the member you're talking about is seungyeon! shes the main dancer and leader (-: she does monthly dance videos on cubes channel u should react to them for a video!!
I loved the style of this video! I felt you went deeper into the symbolisms of the different elements of the MV than in many other videos (or did you just do it in a different way?) and it was really interesting to listen to. Hope you'll continue to do more videos like this in the future!
I’m so used to PD’s reactions that everytime I hear a song that I like I always say “wow I can’t wait to see PD’s reaction” or when a song that I think suits his style comes out I’m like: “heheh PD is gonna like this” I feel so dumb lmao
the narrow hallway part - elkie has said that behind the scenes, she acted differently with both sides. when she was with the white elks, she put on a more fiercer, evil kind of vibe, but with the black rams, elkie seemed more calm//relaxed.
Not only is she a work of art but that painting is called "the Birth of Venus" who is the roman equivalent of Aphrodite who is the greek goddess of love and beauty. So symbolically in the video she is the goddess of beauty a work of art.
They really like to play with the name of their work... i read it somewhere that the last mini album No.1 can also be read as “No one” that went really well with the title track - No. It was Elkie’s idea to do the smart play on the words. I bet this time it’s the same.
The fact that it's Cube and the song's drop and the red/white background remind me a lot of 4minute's HATE. I know a lot of people who didn't like that, but I'm in love with this song.
There were rams, but on the other side it weren't deers. They were Elks, as an inside joke to Elkie's name

the tan girl with cat eyes and has grey highlights on her hair is my babie, seungyeon.
I love the fact that Seungyeon isn't just behind some painting but its actually The Birth Of Venus as in the goddess of beauty!
You are probably referring to Seungyeon yeah ! The one behind the clear wall/glass. Going hard every time yeah ! She's a Queen tho. One of the best female dancer in K-POP in my opinion (you should watch her solo dances). So underrated tho.
Please do a listening party for Crystyle album also. It's still my favorite CLC album and has hobgoblin for title track.
I like that the visuals of the music video say fierceness in beauty and the lyrics have that too
the member you're talking about is seungyeon! shes the main dancer and leader (-: she does monthly dance videos on cubes channel u should react to them for a video!!
STAN TALENT. STAN QUEENS. STAN CLC
The fact that half of my name is in the title of the song makes my fangirl heart beat like crazy
I loved the style of this video! I felt you went deeper into the symbolisms of the different elements of the MV than in many other videos (or did you just do it in a different way?) and it was really interesting to listen to. Hope you'll continue to do more videos like this in the future!
I only stan BTOB and CLC
I love how you appreciate their music
I’m so used to PD’s reactions that everytime I hear a song that I like I always say “wow I can’t wait to see PD’s reaction” or when a song that I think suits his style comes out I’m like: “heheh PD is gonna like this” I feel so dumb lmao
Thanks to clc i found out that ive been missing half of my life
BVNDIT - Hocus Pocus and Dramatic
Nature - Some and Love and Dream of U
the narrow hallway part - elkie has said that behind the scenes, she acted differently with both sides. when she was with the white elks, she put on a more fiercer, evil kind of vibe, but with the black rams, elkie seemed more calm//relaxed.
VITE FOR CLC ON SHOW CHAMPION!!! WE ARE IN SECOND PLACE !
No.1 is currently my best album of the year. Me comeback didn't disappoint.
I was waiting for this reaction!!!!
Can't wait for that No. 1 Listening Party! :)
Finally ❤️❤️
CLC 💕💕
Not only is she a work of art but that painting is called "the Birth of Venus" who is the roman equivalent of Aphrodite who is the greek goddess of love and beauty. So symbolically in the video she is the goddess of beauty a work of art.
Yaaaasss hahahaha it's ok that was my bias although you mentioned one of my bias wreckers in CLC!!
I literally never clicked so fast...
PLEASE RELEASE THE NO.1 LISTENING PARTY PD!
I looked forward to your reaction! 👏❤️
