Most of the music video was biblical references like 7 horns, crown of thrones, jesus healing the girl, parting the sea, jesus being baptized

J-hope first appears when Jungkook closes his eyes, it almost feels like a bit of a suspended, dream-like sequence. Not to mention this kind of "death/holy" imagery we get between him and Suga: J-hope's got the black jacket, the dead tree trunks, the bird on Jungkook's collapsed body almost like a scavenger bird. Whereas Suga's in the temple/monastery, and the way his white shirt appears to "glow" makes him feel more ethereal in a way.

The raven (if it is) is symbol of death in certain folklore/mythology such as Norse where Odin is represented through ravens and death is tied in especially in battle (im not 100% if I got that right but it’s something along those lines) and in Irish folklore of a banshee who can appear as a raven and shows its self to families when a death is going to occur in the family. So it could be J-Hope is a grim reaper figure which is reinforced by the raven and also his clothing and could tie into the battle from the start?? Might be nothing but that’s my input haha
Also that Hobi's outfit didn't really fit in with the aesthetic of the video, like he's from the future or a different timeline
Kind of the same with Suga, his white collared shirt definitely looks more like a modern shirt than the shirts of old
@@annique9186 all the clothes and settings go with a dystopian, post-apocalyptic timeline: some stuff that survived from a time like ours, some stuff hand made off natural elements as if industry wrecked.
But I do agree Hobi's part is like a dream by JK, the scenery changes abruptly.
I'm not religious, but it is pretty hard to ignore all of the connections. Tae looked like Jesus on the cross. JK had thorns wrapped around his wrist. RM looked like Noah. Suga looked like a preacher. JHope is almost like a spirit. IDK. Also, they all have outfits from different time periods. So, it could fit into the whole Jin time traveling thing.

I was seeing biblical references all over too. Like jk goes into the water with the thorns as a jesus parallel and he gets batised. The dove is released at the same time. The walls of Jericho opening when a trumpet (shell) sounds. Climbing the mountain like moses does.
A lot of ppl think that behind RM was Noah's Ark too

The only thing that could be tied to religion (sorta? more like to the movie) is Noah. As for the rest is way too contrived. I mean spiritual, essence, soul =/= religious. Not to mention the actress who plays the blonde girl said herself she is portraying Tae's sister! It's related to the BU, it's a metaphor.

The kinetic film feels so different to the mv but I love how much they contrast with each other so much but are good individually
One of the things I thought was interesting that I haven't seen anyone mention (Unless I just missed it) is their outfits during the dance break. The little gems (I can't think of what they're called) almost makes it look like they're wearing chainmail.
I thought the same but it also looks kinda modern, too.
The fact that they are mostly baggy is what gives me the vibes of more modern with that chainmail look.
Either way, its awesome.

To me it felt like each member was from a different time period coming together to fight something "bad" and breathe life back into this barren area. It gave me Maze Runner vibes a bit. Also, Fake Love hoods are back with a twist.
Finally someone said it. I think the same. When jk close his eyes we see hobi and Yoongi with other type of clothes and at other places. So I also though it might be another temporary line or some time travel
Well the scene/setting when tae takes the blind fold off the little girl I’m sure is referencing maze runner because he has veins running up his neck which looks like the virus(?) from 2nd movie. And then there’s the two walls opening which is basically the first movie. So yeah if it’s not a maze runner reference in some way then I’d be surprised.
Yeah that's what I thought. They're all dressed from different points in history. That could explain why some members don't fit either the overall aesthetic.

The best description I have heard for this comeback album is, “Most artist are afraid of losing fame; BTS is afraid of losing their love of music.”
I feel this album is them branching out, doing what no one has done because 1. They have the fame and wealth to do so 2. They want to push every bounty to reach people they can, to effect as many as possible.
This title track, and this album, are my favorite to this date
Huge credits to Choi YongSeok (aka LUMPENS) for directing this music video. He's also the man behind N.O music video and Fake love and many iconic BTS music videos. He's been with BTS and BIGHIT since early debut. This man deserves an Oscar istg his works are always work of art.
Out of all the reactors I watch, I feel like you're the one whose opinion and feelings most closely jive with mine. I do feel like this album is pushing towards a big announcement. As much as none of us want to think about them going into the military, I feel like this could be their way of leaving the biggest impact possible right before they're forced to take a break. I sincerely hope they all go at the same time when they do go. I'd rather them be gone for two years than them be incomplete and us have a huge break before BTS is back together again.
But at the same time, I also wouldn't mind hearing what a V solo album, a Jimin, or Jungkook Solo album would sound like. The rap line has released solo albums, but the vocal line hasn't.
@@Marie45610 its like you said rap line has release solo albums yet no memeber was in the military so they still can in between comebacks like how the rap line did. Because if we go with the idea of sending a memeber when they turn 28 then its going to be alonger time to see ot7

@@mucefitadonelly9457 I don't think they give insults or backhanded comments. I think they just give an honest and unbiased opinion. I am such a huge supporter of BTS, and I'm always rooting for them. That being said, I do not 100% love every song/video of theirs. I appreciate someone who gives an honest take on a song or video and doesn't just douse everything in praise.

I've been thinking about it since it was announced that the name was going to be 7, it really does sound like some sort of closure (and not just for the era)
I think it could be a farewell to this particular part of the story because obviously this time around (maybe one of Jin's re-cycle of time) things have turned, success in whatever Jin was trying maybe?? That's why they are at the beginning with (no more) dream
@@Ananya-ke9fz i think so, too. but reality check, military service is also around the corner (especially for Jin as he will turn 28 end of this year) He will go for sure. but I also think they could also go together all seven, hence the "farewell" vibes. it is of course a temporary farewell, but spending 18 to 24 months in military is quite long, especially now that they are in their prime time. like it or not, it will be a huge void, especially for ARMY. and i am so sad just from writing this...
annisa afiati Hi! I currently have several of my favorite artists in the military and its hard but trust me, it goes by soooo fast, and they often have music projects during the military, such a musicals and such! So yes, it’ll be hard but don’t worry, they will be back in no time
I've had this impression too, especially with their enlistment around the corner. But it most likely isn't a definite end, I bet when they finish their service they're gonna come up with THE comeback of the century lol

As far as the BTS story arc goes, doesn't this feel really complete? That's almost the first thing that struck me when I listened to the album the first couple of times. Every other album was pretty open-ended to the next one--even within a series. MOTS 7 feels different to me.
Although Jungkook gets freeze-framed in the middle of his run up the face of the rock at the end so I guess that is a little bit of a mystery...but still.
The mv for ON isn't part of the Bangtan Universe. If it was, it would have said "BU Content Certified by Big Hit Entertainment" at the bottom of the description like other mvs that are actually a part of it.
@@ak4597 that's true...maube my comment should have been clearer. The BTS story is wider than the BU. Just like the members of BTS are richer, wider, deeper than any of their parallel representations in the BU.
same. From the first listen of the album , each track felt like an epic closure to every highlighted moment of their career .. And it makes sense cause they probably won't release any more albums after this one due to the army duties I guess

I loved how the ending of this music video referenced their debut and if you look at the lyrics for both songs you could summarize them as “Keep dreaming even when it’s hard.”
I was in awe watching the mv its a masterpiece
I can pause at any point of this MV, screen cap, and frame it as artwork. The cinematic level for this MV is that good
This MV truly seems like a trailer for a movie. I'm not sure if I like how Hope and Suga's parts seemed to be framed more like a traditional Kpop music video, because to me it feels a bit out of place when the rest of the scenes are more storytelling driven... However, I did love the inclusion of the dance break, even though I could have the same criticism about it... The reason why the dance break fitted well is because, in my opinion, that part of the choreography is so intense, so agressive and with big jumps/hicks reminiscent of martial arts, that it felt like a metaphor; a metaphor for the characters there being soldiers training for the next battle, as if the dancing was representing how they could have been practicing military formations or how to fight with swords or weapons.
The executive producer of this MV is Nathan Scherrer from Freenjoy who also produces Kendrick Lammar, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Pharrel Williams, Beyonce's MVs. And the special effects is from Ingenuity Studios who has done effects for Netflix and Marvel. This MV has that budget.

"Something big is on the way." That gave me the chills! I agree with everything you said. A *lot* of people are saying that this album is their best yet, that they really put a lot into it, that they would have to work even harder to top this comeback... The fact that this MV is so epic and probably the most challenging project Lumpens has done *has to* mean something. I actually think they will all go to the military together after the Grammys or during the summer or spring next year. That would make total sense (especially because they promised countless of times in the album that they will continue on their journey, sing endlessly, fight the pain, to /bring it/. And they are leaving a big imprint before leaving for a little moment before coming back even stronger.)

I think you may be one of my favorite reactors tbh. One of the reasons being that your reactions feel really genuine. You also have a different insight than most, and it's really entertaining.
Loved this commentary, I think the MV is absolutely gorgeous and I have a headache from all the theories. Like you said I'm also really glad this video is not as much like usual Kpop videos but more movie-like, I think that the previous one was more than enough for that and with this one they could actually tell the story.
The music video inspires and motivates me and the kinetic film makes me feel really aggressively energetic

what you said about how this music video made you hear and feel the song differently... yes! same! the inevitable pain they sing about and the fearlessness of it can really be *felt* by listening to and watching this at the same time. don't get me wrong, on gets me hype af, like i could conquer the world and nothing could stop me, but now in a more real and intimate, unifying way. that's the best i can describe it because music is feelings and all the other forms of art help to accentuate that feeling. it's truly healing.
What I liked the most is that it was filmed outside
So many mv nowadays are filmed in studios which although looks nice it also feels less real
the dance part kinda seemed like they where battling there shadows or their enemy or something ( kinda like a literal dance battle hahaha) and they then won and overcame the obstacle and could then go beyond the wall and keep on living their life.
Why have I not heard of this channel before? Finally, someone who speaks about the videos in a more serious and in depth way as they are reacting...not that others haven't, but I like when there is serious analysis behind reactions. Will check out other videos :)

Im like you actually where in im a much bigger movie lover that music enthusiast. I think i only got captured by bts because of all the other stuff like the story lines and extra art that goes into every single one of their work. Made me want to pay attention to music and appreciate it. And their awesome personalities don’t hurt either ;)

I was thinking of it in another way! The kinetic film, and appearances are all building up to this music video so i do get why they chose to release this later. My mind is absolutely blown away while watching it
the color grading is amazing too. it was done by company 3 and also some of their works are: a quiet place 1&2, 1917, dolittle, birds of prey, bad boys for life, doctor sleep, MIB, spider man: far from home, IT, bird box, star wars etc.

i totally agree with you! i absolutely love films and it’s my dream to become an actress! there was so many movie references too and i really enjoyed that too :o so i totally felt it when you said you connected to this more, i hope they do more things like this in the future, heck they need their own movie at this point! + i think i prefer more MV’s that are movie like because it’s like watching a movie with no dialogue and it’s all up to you to see what you see and interpret it the way you see it, eeee i love it!
it’s really refreshing to see a music video like this. while I do love the visuals in kpop music videos, it does get a bit stale just to see the same thing over and over again. but this is different. wouldn’t expect anything less from bts
