Very good DIY video. One important part missed though, you should paint the glass with a window seal primer before putting your bonding sealant on and also prime the other surface (hard top). The primer etched so makes sure the sealant doesn’t fail.
@@PeaceParts Mahalo for a very fast reply. You are awesome. When I removed an old strip, it did not look like it had an adhesive so I was wondering how it was staying.
@@agodeko01 yeah, I dont claim to be a professional window installer, but I believe if I was, I would use some of the windo-weld in the crevice of the trim to hold it on. Since I would already heave a tube of that being used for the window. I believe some sort of adhesive is the way to go, for sure.
Cool vid, thanks, Peace Parts. Is it absolutely necessary to replace with a new exterior trim mould? You showed it fitted easily, which should make it also easy to remove, and not damage, would you think? (There is a shortage in my country and Mazda are presently charging a fortune for it)
No its not absolutely necessary. I will say though, it did not hold up the first time I installed it in this video. I ended up going back with some general construction adhesive and gluing it on for good. There is a possibility your trim will come off just fine and you could reuse it.
Next time you make a DIY, try exclude the pop up text or let them show for a longer duration. I had to go back and rewind after I saw it flash. Wasn't sure if they were "oh, btw" tips or what. They weren't.
Later on, I ended up using a construction adhesive to hold the trim on and it has held phenomenally. That was actually at the recommendation of a local glass guy.
@@jakehamilton5894 no issues with the corners once I put the construction adhesive all along the groove and then used tape and things to hold it down while it set overnight.
I believe the pros squirt some of the windoweld into the channel and stick it to the glass. I did not do that and the seal blew off. I eventually came back with a new seal and glued it in with some generic construction adhesive. Super solid now!
@@PeaceParts will that seal then need replacing when it is removed next time, or will it come away and be reusable? The outer seal with the "clip" that you also purchased separately in referring to
I bought them from the same person who had taken the window out to repaint the top (not necessary in my opinion). So all I had to do was order the seals and reinstall it. I believe you can get a new piece of glass from Mazda dealership, but it's going to be pricey!
Very good question. I was lucky enough to get my top with the oem glass, it just had been pulled apart to paint. Therefore I didn't actually have to buy it. I woukd start with a mazda dealership and then try searching part numbers online to see if its available anywhere.
Thanks for not glossing over the moulding install like everyone else.

Thank yuo Peace Parts, this was the video I'm looking for a while, about how top properly add the rear window sealing, thank you!
Very helpful how-to. My hardtop needs a lot of halp, so planning to restore as soon as I can. Thanks!
Super helpful, thank you.
thank you so helpful!!!!!
Thank you for the awesome information! 🙏
i need that outer seal, what website did you get it because i'm not finding it.
See answer above
This video is a big help. Thank you! I just want to replace my old cracked "NAY1-63-930 - Reveal Molding". Does the outer trip require any adhesive?
I didnt use any in this video, but soon regretted it. Later I used some general construction adhesive and it worked well.

I used some clear silicone on the reveal molding every 6 inches or so I guess I'll see how it worked when I get home
Later on, I ended up using a construction adhesive to hold the trim on and it has held phenomenally. That was actually at the recommendation of a local glass guy.
@@PeaceParts any luck on the corners at all they still want to lift so I put tape and extra adhesive

@@PeaceParts that's good at least
Nice vid bro 😎 so you put the black silicone on the hardtop too before putting the window down ?
No, just on the glass.
I just got the glass seal, so does it just click into the edge of the glass without needing adhesive or sealant?
I believe the pros squirt some of the windoweld into the channel and stick it to the glass. I did not do that and the seal blew off. I eventually came back with a new seal and glued it in with some generic construction adhesive. Super solid now!
I thought it might do that as it doesn't really 'click' into place it just sits on the edge of the glass

Is it possible to replace the outer mold without glass removal?
Yes absolutely! I would recommend using some construction adhesive to hold it in place
Great diy video. Are you able to provide part numbers for the urethane and seals?
NA01-63-895A - Weatherstrip
NAY1-63-930 - Reveal Molding
08609 - 3M Windo Weld Urethane
Those should be the only seals and parts you need.
I was able to locate the parts with a little research but thanks for the reply!
Miatas are always wet inside lol
That's pretty neat.
YES!!! Thanks! Lol
Hello I need glass for my hard top were I can take the glass?
They are very hard to find used and I dont believe they still sell them new. Your best bet is to replace it with lexan
hey man i got a question super late my hardtop is fine besides the rear molding do i have remove the window to replace the outside trim molding ?
Is it possible to replace that seal around the window with the glass still in?
The trim around the outside, yes absolutely. The foam seal around the inside of the window, no.
Peace Parts thanks 🙏🏻
How did you pull it out tho ha
undo the bolts and then cut the sealant with a razor or windsheild cutting tool and then the glass will come out.
@@PeaceParts yeah im affraid of braking with way its shaped is it pretty thick and workable
where did you get the seal/trim?
I ordered it from a Mazda dealership online. The part numbers are listed in another reply below.
@@PeaceParts Thanks!
Where’d you get the hardtop & the window ?

Peace Parts oem top ? Sorry if I’m asking a lot
@@FatherKen Yes it is an OEM top with Headliner and defrost. I believe it is original to a 1993 Miata (Sinamon) that you will see in my other videos.

Annoying music playing while you’re talking, can’t finish watching.
Music is a no go
I literally cannot find the window seal...where the fuck do you get it??
