  • An initial review of the Patagonia Nine Trails 20L backpack, and direct comparison to the very similar Black Hole 25L backpack. What makes it batter, more functional, and more cost effective? Is it one of the best single day hiking bags available, especially if you can find it used? Let's find out!

Not sure if REI mislabeled it but this is actually the 28L pack. Aside from the 20L pack being smaller (obviously), the main differences between the 20L (and women's 18L) versus the 28L (and women's 26L) are that the 20L:
    - only has one (upper) compression strap on either side of the pack
    - only has the U-shape opening and not the additional side access shown at 4:40
    - does not have load lifters
Otherwise, the features are identical, including material, storm flap for the exterior pocket, removable frame sheet, etc. The 28L will also fit under most airline seats should you choose to use it as your personal item, albeit with not much foot room remaining.

I've had this backpack for a couple years. I'm happy to learn that the plastic sheet can be removed. Thanks for your review!💯
