That was my favorite part,it says he nailed it,also the way he bites his lower lip,he was so nervous because his parents were in the audience and hearing for the first time live.
@@suzannehuesgen9143 She was behind him so he couldn't see her during the performance. However, he said he was aware of her the entire time, and it was like when he would practice at home. He smiled because he just didn't know how not to. He was always smiling and happy.
Ann Wilson did it concerts with Heart back in the 1980. She was a close second to this Bobby Hatfield version which I have always loved. Great perennial song done by some great singers. ( I am an old, senior citizen guy, ha 🙂)
@@johns20901 I took you advice and listened to Ann Wilson. I liked it even though it was a semi-rock version not the softer version by Bobby Hatfield. That woman has one powerful voice and her high notes are stratospheric like Bobby Hatfield. Thanks I will have a listrmen to more of her songs. I like females with powerful singing voices and a broad octave range and she definitely has that un spades. 👍🇦🇺👍👍👏👏👏👏
This is a vocal masterclass... Bobby Hatfield is arguably the greatest male vocalist of all time... He had it all, the looks, the voice, and effortlessly cool... Aspiring singers should watch this performance because there was no auto tuning, no cues, nothing but raw talent... The only other person with a voice of an angel was Karen Carpenter.... Never will we hear vocals like this again. This is a fluke of nature that only ever happens once... Listening to this song is a privilege... PERFECTION 👌
This song was in my childhood and I’m 33…my parents and I would listen to the oldies like this when we went camping on the North Coat of California…oldies are the best
1965 i was 12 years old and watched this on Andy Williams show, he had a cold and his mother was in attendance! RIP Bobby, you are missed and not forgotten!
No Auto-tune, no digital effects, nothing but a man standing on a stage surrounded by fans and the band playing in the background. A master artist practicing his craft. 56 years later, he still touches the soul.
This is Bobby Hatfield. Half of The Righteous Brothers. He was 25 years old here....he suffered severe stage fright...and live TV and his parents in the audience made him even more afraid. And he did THIS... 😀 Watch him biting his lip at the end as to say "See, mom...I nailed it" 😁 NO one could top this...not even the great Presley.
Bobby 's solo is the best male solo ever. A gold standard that has not been achieved by the many others trying their best. Girls and Boys this is what real talent in the '60s was all about. No autotune, nor computerized enhancement, just pure God-given talent.
Bobby Hatfield (Rip 1940-2003) was a legendary tenor, arguably the greatest ever. Perfect pronunciation and vowels singing. He sang this solo and was his achievement. Beautiful voice 👌
He owns this song! No one can sing it like Bobby did. I was 15 yrs old in 1965 when I heard him sing it on the Andy Williams show. We melted! He's so handsome and his voice is awesome!!! RIP Bobby! 💞💞💞💞
It's just amazing how people who weren't alive during the hey day of the Righteous Brothers all seem to be in total awe of their talent. Bobby Hatfield's voice during this Andy Williams Show performance was beyond description...relaxed and powerful at the same time. His range was otherworldly. The way he ended this particular performance was epic. I hope Bobby is singing this everyday for everyone in Heaven.
Dear Bobby I fall in love with you each time I hear/watch you sing this song in your heartfelt/soulful delivery. Your talent and sincerity are pure gold. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed.
Bobby, today is your 81st birthday. Hope you're singing this song with your helluva band in rock n roll heaven. Miss you SO much. Nobody has sung it better. Happy Happy Birthday!!!!
They say perfection is unattainable but this has to be close; it's hard to know how it could be improved upon. This is not an easy number to sing, but he does it effortlessly. The look, the pitch perfect notes, the mannerisms; everything is just enchanting. Agree with a previous contributor that it's sad Bobby isn't here to see the reactions to this song. Many of them are quite moving and bring tears to my eyes.
Songs were magic in the 60's. Love songs were sung to women, not about women, they were about love, not sex.... Male singers sang to seduce women. When you feel like you're just a puddle of emotion, you've been swooned.....
Yes, these were the days when walking a young high school co-ed to her home from school as she slipped her hand warmly into yours you noticed the slight breezed perfume of her hair. Walking on clouds all the way to her home. Decades later and the memory is still vibrant and fresh. Very good days.
It is called blue eyed soul. And while this song has been recorded by over 670 artists, the version by the Righteous Brothers is considered the quintessential version. The late great Bobby Hatfield simply knocked it out of the park. Perhaps your momma didn't share this song with you because of how it speaks to a woman's heart and her soul. Historians will never know how many babies were conceived because of this song. Thank you Bobby for this amazing gift. RIP.
One of the greatest tenors of the 20th century. Fortunately the people at this performance were sitting in chairs. This is from a live episode of the Andy Williams Show.
In 1965 men had to work a little harder to "get the girl", so the song lyrics of the time truly reflected this. Bobby's passion and talent during this performance just makes me weak in the knees. You feel like he's singing it directly to you. Swoon Swoon Swoon.
So, Bobby won the coin toss. Then he had to go out cold and nail the performance. He said he was terrified because his mother was in the audience. I'd say he kilt it!😁
this has got to be one of the most on point live solo performances of all time. Kinda wish Bobby was alive to witness some of these reactions over 55 years later. Love your ear for soul Lovely la Love, you got another loyal Subscriber :)
The funny part is that Bobby's mom and dad were in the audience that evening and he was a nervous wreck about performing in front of them. But he sure hid it well!
LOL - yup, and ladies' ovaries are exploding everywhere. This is baby makin' music. ;-) My late uncle used to call this song "a guaranteed panty dropper" LOL. RIP Bobby Hatfield... and Uncle Bernie.
Nancy Berry Uncle Bernie was a wise man. What gets me is how women from any generation has the same reaction to this. Just a side note- you don’t hear any vulgarity from women or men on music like this.
Lovely La Love (beautiful name) Your Reaction and comments were some of The BEST!!!!! Thank You, Thank You!!!...for reviewing this, this,....this....this....???....performance is SO MANY things! A previous poster commented that Bobby Hatfield's rendition of "Unchained Melody" here on this 1965 TV show...is...."...an Epic Masterpiece, a Gift of Love to the World, to Cherish." This is truly what this performance has become. Bobby, the lyrics, the composition, the orchestra, the mics and cameras...came together that night...and gave US a monumental Gift. Like yourself Lovely, I would feel..."less"...without this Gift.
Couple of things. First, I love Lovely's reaction. Second, heartfelt lyrics. Third, a wonderful composition for the orchestra or band. Third, the orchestra played phenomenally. Fourth, the silence of the audience almost leaned into and along with the presentation, giving it along with Bobby and the orchestra, an air of reverence for love. And lastly, Bobby Hatfield....what a voice. I consider it an epic masterpiece, a gift of love to the world to cherish. Bravo to all.
You are swooning....I'm sure that's what many of the women in the audience were feeling too, This is a singer with feeling and a lot of actual talent, before autotune.
Called PURE TALENT!!!! No body does it better then Me. Bobby!!! Mr Bills great too!! The Dynamic Duo!! Solos or together they are Righteous Brothers!!!!!!🌹❤️
You were the most moving swooner I have seen over this performance.

Bobby Hatfield was just the greatest singer who ever lived. No one can sing this awesome song as Bobby did. Like you I feel it coming from his soul. Songs like this and singers like Bobby are few and thank god there is no apartheid when it comes to music ❤❤❤👍👍
Forgot to say you are the cutest thing and I love your reaction. I felt the same when I heard it at it's first release, still do after 55yrs. Puts water in my eyes, wait for me I'll be coming home wait for me.
Love how you're reacting, like you can't believe what's coming out his mouth. I was fortunate to see the Righteous Brothers in 1965. Was a great show. They were phenomenal. The stage was circular and set up in the center of the venue. I will never forget that night, I was with my family and it was my first concert I ever went to
This was LIVE, in 1965…no electronic enhancements whatsoever, just Bobby Hatfield, his voice, and the microphone
The man was sent by God blessed us briefly with his beautiful voice and now he sings amongst the Angels.
The cheeky smile at the end gets me every time , he knew he nailed it .. Maybe the best live performance of all time .. 💞
Best..why of course--YES.
That was my favorite part,it says he nailed it,also the way he bites his lower lip,he was so nervous because his parents were in the audience and hearing for the first time live.
Just a stellar all-time performance for the ages.
I heard he was nervous and when it went well he smiled at his mother.

Beautiful voice, beautiful man, beautiful song. God really handed out the talent on the day this man was born. What a classic!
By far, Bobby Hatfield's rendition is the BEST. The range and control of his voice is just phenomenal.
No Auto-tune, no digital effects, nothing but a man standing on a stage surrounded by fans and the band playing in the background. A master artist practicing his craft. 56 years later, he still touches the soul.
Yes, indeed ❤

Nailed it without a doubt !! Best version ......
My first concert in early 60s. They are still my favorite singers ❤️
This song is from a time when singers had actual talent!
Auto tune has been the death of pure music and talent. Mostly anyway.
Floor Jansen.
Now computers have talent.

Bobby did this live, on the spot with no editing and no autotune!!!! That is true talent!!!!!
Wonderful! AMAZING !!!
Some come close and some even equal.....but NONE will ever do this better. R.I.P. brother Bobby.
From a time when real men wore suits and sang love songs to the women they loved instead of calling them bitches.
Dear Bobby I fall in love with you each time I hear/watch you sing this song in your heartfelt/soulful delivery. Your talent and sincerity are pure gold. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed.
The world was not perfect in 1965, but many things were a whole lot better than today
One of The Greatest Songs of all Time
The greatest performance of all time. It beats even the studio version hand down.
Bobby, today is your 81st birthday. Hope you're singing this song with your helluva band in rock n roll heaven. Miss you SO much. Nobody has sung it better. Happy Happy Birthday!!!!
I was 15 and I remember this. Bobby had a voice that you would swear no human being could have. Damn, it was great to be young in the 60s
Bobby Hatfield....Taking women's breaths away since the '60s.

Oh yeah. Love from the smallest state in Union..Rhode Island.

he would be shocked but delighted, such a strange feeling knowing he isn't here, think thats why I cry everytime I listen to it.

His Voice and a Microphone " It's All Him ! " Amazing Singer.
Yes, that is for real. That was HIS voice, with just a microphone, no autotune back then. Bobby Hatfield was a tenor, not just a singer.
He actually was a natural countertenor... higher than a tenor. Amazing talent!
The way he bit his lip at the end was adorable...♥️
He knew he nailed it, and you know his mom, who was in the audience, was in tears.
This beautiful style of singing was called "blue-eyed soul" back in the 60's. Priceless voice!!!
He had the most incredible range.
The perfect song sung by the perfect singer!
