I make a homemade oatmeal molasses bread recipe from my Aunt Ruth....she always ground her own hard red wheat from Eastern Montana where she was born and raised and still lives at age 90. I mix the dough in a wooden bowl used by my husband's grandmother. I love the entire process 😊 love your channel
I make the same type of bread! Instead of oil I put in home rendered lard. I love the molasses flavor. But not all people do that I give it as a gift so I also use honey. We love it around here. I hope to someday find a real homemade wood bread bowl. No longer buying store bread!
My mom did not make bread but many many years ago, on Sundays, my dad would take us on a Sunday drive and on the way back we would stop at a boulangerie. He knew the manager and he would arrange for us to have freshly baked bread still hot from the oven. Dinner on Sunday evening was hot bread, creamy butter and raspberry jam. I still tear up remembering it. That's how powerful bread is. Just love hearing you and Stuart exchange on your videos; please continue doing so. It is so calming in these challenging times.
I received my first Bona Furtuna order after seeing it in your videos and featured on the cooking community. I could have tucked all the beautiful packaged pasta in the basement somewhere but I decided to rejig my pantry to give it a place of honour! I now have a tidy and usable pantry that makes me want to cook. Thank you!
Love it! I have been making einkorn bread for a long time, but still feel like I'm not doing something right,!Thanks so much Shea for teaching us again how its made.Einkorn is so delicious, love the flavor.Love your videos, they are so refreshing.God Bless!
The exact Recipe you printed was for Flat Bread. I WOULD LIKE the Recipe for the BREAD. You tell a lot about things...but Recipes ...not enough. I have the Baking Skills...NEED YOUR EXACT RECIPE. Thank you. EXCELLENT Voice. Very Pleasant.
I’ve baked bread for years using store bought yeast….sourdough seemed too intimidating…..even when everyone started doing sourdough during the pandemic….I was trying to keep 5 kids alive and didn’t feel like I could take on keeping a sourdough starter alive too. But this year I finally took the leap and have also been learning about einkorn flour…..I love the process for all the reasons you said. It forces a slowing down, a necessary awareness and also feels so basic but so important. I also feel like it’s something that people have been doing for thousands of years and this process connects me to that tradition. I’m not in a spot to afford the bread workshop currently but it sounds lovely!
They is nothing more tasty than a slice of warm bread right out of the oven or more rewarding than making your own! Eating freshly made bread it sure feels like a slice of heaven! I love to add sliced black olives, sundried tomato’s and feta in my breads too. So yummy !
I have finally got your dry starter down and going good. My bread is getting better and better everytime i make it. This time i split it into 2 loaves and made one in my small dutch oven and the other will be a loaf.
Bread making is a devotion you give your family! ;) I think it’s exactly true when you said it keeps you grounded at home and you see the priority, which for a lot of us, is family! Great video! :) Pax et bonum
Wonderful… so fun to watch you.. I love making bread, my daughter in law can only tolerate einkorn and spelt which we mix to make saur dough bread… she uses it for everything and my son loves it! I add some wheat flour for us sometimes. I make sour dough sandwich bread to which I add coconut oil and honey and I make sour dough artisan bread with only starter, water, salt and whole grains. So true what you said about always being able to learn with bread making. I also never pour any starter away.
Your posts are always relaxing & inspiring. Your life nuggets are always on point, and I get excited whenever a notification of a new posting from you pops up. Your channel grounds me and makes me smile. Thank you.
Bread making has been such a joy for me now. There is something so satisfying about it. This week I taught myself how to make traditonal Chekoslavakian Kolaches. with leftover preserves in the middle. Oh these are dangerously good.
Funny 😊I am in the process of making sourdough bread as I watch this ! I have just learned how to make sourdough. My starter is 4months old. So excited. I’m also making Portuguese sweet bread. Keeping my culture alive 👍🏻Love baking for my family & neighbors. 🙌🏻 great way to keep the home warm & smelling delicious
What a great video. It has inspired me to dig a path to our fire pit tomorrow and light a fire. Your bread looked great, so was it Einkorn and your friends wheat? The one really nice thing about bread that’s heavier….it’s so much easier to slice. Yesterday I baked a rye sourdough. Loved it too Ps both you and Stuart’s voices are so calming. Cheers ❄️🇨🇦❄️
Always liked order too, but I have found that the sit up straight, eyes forward, i's-dotted, t's-crossed, and right angle becomes rather small like an office cubicle compared to managing a well-run homestead with all it's variables and seasons. Things are more in motion rather than on paper. But if you can master all the threads, what comes out is efficient, productive and high quality, such as making sourdough bread. And I love that dry sourdough recipe. It's more along the line of the way I like to do things. Smarter not harder, less effort and waste,
I Want a POT with a lid...LIKE YOURS. Where can I purchase one. Please help. For my Bread Baking. Watching you ....yes I WANT A POT WITH COVER CERAMIC.
You speak of all the molecules that are in the bread making process. Lots of science, lots of YOU in your bread dough. Are you recognizing that, like you say "in your anger . . ." , that your bread behaves very similar to the way another living person or animal also shuts down when you project or present them with your anger, that it makes your sour dough is a living thing? Just an observation as I listen to your words as I knit on a sweater. It is observation that I would not see if I was just watching this video. I will now go back and watch, with my eyes, your video. God's blessings on your calm walk with Him in this spiritual battle you are experiencing now. God IS in control.

I just love when you do the voice over with your husband. It feels so cozy and like a true partnership in this adventure of life.

I just finished watching and have become so calm. You don't even have to make it personally in order to enjoy the benefits!
The smell of fresh baked bread in the home is like a whiff of heaven, and with real butter! Yum.
This was beautiful, Shaye! And I love that Stuart is part of the vids again. You guys share such beautiful and insightful dialogues. Love it. ♥️

Wonderful video! The genuine goal of slowing down and appreciating what you have, even the simple things we often take for granted.
Watching this after a failed attempt of an artisan loaf sure makes me excited to try again.

There something so precious about a fresh loaf of bread out of the oven. That looks amazingly delicious and fills your home and soul with goodness 😊
I learned how to make and use a dry starter from you and it changed my bread game forever! Thanks!
God bless!
Incredible! I enjoyed you both. Great video.
So excited about the workshop! I bought einkorn and was like "what the flip is up with this flour?!" It's a different beast.

Your einkorn sourdough loaf is most certainly IG worthy! Beautiful❤
Just pulled some focaccia out of my oven this afternoon....love bread & especially with a nice glass of cabernet 🍷
I love making bread, too! Very relaxing and satisfying to make your own bread.

What a feel good video! Thank you!❤
Beautiful video
Well, I just didn't want this video to end. 🌻
How do you store you bread cloth? Do you wash it with gentle detergent between bread making or rinse it out each time?
Thanks for the beautiful video, Shaye! 🥰
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful video!
I wish I could get all purpose einkorn flour here in Ireland. To import it costs a crazy amount of money.

Sleeves, girl. My sleeves have to be UP when I am doing that. It was hard to watch you without wanting to push your sleeves up for you!
