Gaz, I'm immensely grateful for your sourdough bread tutorial. Thanks for sharing Gabby’s expertise and making the process enjoyable. You've inspired me to have a go again. Gabby’s passion and clear instructions are truly remarkable. Thank you! Tina
Having grown up in Germany I only realized how blessed I had always been to have good, tasty bread available everywhere once I went abroad... Nothing like the smell of fresh bread that has just come out of the oven! 🤤 That bakery looks lovely! 😍 P.S. I think "Herbert" is a great name for a sourdough starter! Actually, I recall reading recipes for a sourdough starter called "Hermann" some 20 years ago in old cooking magazines or something. They might as well be brothers or cousins. 😄
Yes! I remember 'Herman the German' doing the rounds where I lived in Scotland about 15 years ago! You were supposed to pass half onto a friend - best chain letter ever!😂
My Norwegian grandma had a piece of “Hermann” when I was younger I remember. She made cookies from a part of him haha. It was passed on from several other people and no one knew who originally made him lol. Fun idea, but I did not dare to taste the cookies haha
Gabs has a great laugh! Gabs and Marcus were so nice to have you in their micro-bakery! Great bread-making lesson by Gabs…and, thanks for your input, Gaz, on how to make the actual starter…you both explained everything so clearly. It looked like a fun time. I’d definitely seek them out for some great sweet and savoury baked goods, when I visit Wales one day.
Gaz I’ve been following for years but recently really gotten into your videos/lifestyle especially now that you live in the country. Your videos are so comforting, motivating, warm, delicious. Definitely pushing me ahead towards the vegan way, even a little bit. THANK YOU. So much talent & grace
Gaz being the comic relief of this video. 😅 Your enthusiasm and excitement is contagious, I can't help but smile watching your videos. Obviously we need to know how to make those pastries! And also, can we talk about the opening to this video? It's nearly indecent. 😂Fresh bread is literally the best thing ever.
Yes to pastries!! get them back on. I am SO excited to try to make sourdough - I’ve always wanted to try and this video is gonna be the one I follow! 🎉
I hope this video helps to appreciate a bread from an original bakery then an industrial bread even if it costs more then double. It's a lot of work and love. Thanks for showing this 👍
I’m super excited to see where your sourdough journey leads you (future video pls🙏🏻)!! I’ve been making my own sourdough for 4 years now and have fallen in love with the process of reading your dough and its environment. It’s always changing which is so exciting! Love your videos so much and look forwards to them each week! Keep up the great work 😁
This video was great. There were so many funny innuendos throughout the video, it had me laughing. I really enjoy sourdough and the tang of it. Sourdough is definitely one of the best breads out there. It was exciting to see how you used it for your Welsh dish, the beer cheese with mustard looked amazing after being caramelized. I know the flavors were probably divine with the mustard, leeks, chives and nutritional yeast, mustard with cheese adds a great bite to the flavor. This is something that would be great to try. You always add a bright spot to the day with your wonderful content, and its great to see everyone that you bring with you on the journey. Thank you for all of this, it’s much appreciated. We also need to see more of the master bakers, they were excellent.
Shwmae Gaz! 🏴 I'm a vegan Welshman living in Aotearoa New Zealand. Having your content that is proudly Welsh and proudly vegan is such a joy for me, I love all your videos but I get a massive kick out of your Welsh themed content 😊 da iawn!!!
Can't beat that smell of freshly cooked sourdough as you pull them out the oven, always blown away every weekend when i bake my two loaves. Look after junior!
New(ish) follower here! Love making sourdough bread, and these look absolutely fantastic. Great video, would love to see more of the pastry making too. Thanks for the inspiration!
My favorite sourdough starter requires NO discard! Best method for me ever! I usually add the salt with everything else & mix, but I like the idea of adding the salt later. I'll try that on my next loaf.
Marcus and Gabby DO COME!! (Sorry if you spell your names differently than I'm used to spelling them.) This was a great one you saved, Gaz! *Very* helpful on the starter! Thank you all, in front of and behind the camera!
I loved this episode! Baking with that much love makes you so happy when you see the results. Gotta get back into the sourdough game soon. And yes, I'd love to see how they make pastries! How do they make those layers?! Also, that water trick is pure gold! gotta try it
Very nice video. Been baking my own bred since the ~6 month now. A oven steal costs ~ 60€ and helps me alot Preheat for 30min at max and then bake it at 210°C for ~1h
I tried to make sourdough starter during the pandemic (I tried to be one of those people) but I just didn’t look after the starter and it just kept failing! I’m going to try again now, I dream of making my own bread, thanks for motivating me ❤ would love to see pastries!
Hi Gaz. I really loved this video and inspired to attempt to make a sourdough bread myself. I've watched other videos before and was overwhelmed with the whole process. Waiting for that pastries video. Thanks.
Sourdough bread baking saved me during COVID and now I eat nothing but home made rosemary sourdough. I am going to try the salt out trick next round. Yes please have these lovely people on for pastries! Would love to know how to make vegan croissant or danish. Love all of your videos. So much love pours out.
