    Yes, it works a treat. I gigged for years with electric guitars easily adapted to play mandolin and other hybrid tunings, with only 4 strings.. So much so, I've recently been slowly relearning how to play in standard 6 string E-E tuning..The annoying thing is, since the pandemic lockdown lay off stopped us gigging . I've now forgotten how to play in mandolin tuning. Oh the joys of old age failing memory...

      I hear you. I had ukuleles for a few years before really figuring out the tuning and how to adapt the chord shapes I already knew. I'm now looking at 4 banjos too!
