  • A slower golf swing but hit it farther with accuracy is revelation to many. There is something destroying your golf swing, and I wager you haven't even considered how it affects your power and consistency.
The weird simple golf tip to help you hit the ball straighter and longer has to do with your golf swing tempo and power. It's definitely an interesting tip and worth trying out on the course. See what you think!

Hey there, my name is Alex Fortey, the founder of The Art of Simple Golf and in this video I'm going to show you a weird trick that Nick Faldo uses to hit the ball straighter. Some people might think it's strange, but it actually works really well. So if you're looking for a way to improve your golf game, stick around and I'll show you what he does for perfect golf swing tempo.
There is something destroying your golf swing, and I wager you haven't even considered it. You've been chasing all the technical solutions for your golf swing, getting frustrated. But if you overlook this one thing, you are gonna stay frustrated and stay inconsistent. I am talking about tempo, but don't think it's boring because if your tempo is quick or if it is snatching, your shots are gonna be so much worse.
The reason I know that you are overlooking tempo is because of the thousands of golfers I've helped across the world really ever pay attention to tempo. And it doesn't mean to swing slow, it doesn't mean to swing soft, but that is the starting point. Find your tempo and I promise you your game will skyrocket. Who do we admire? Ernie Els, Fred Couples, people like this. VJ Singh, smooth swings that look like you can just do them for days without worry, but they still deliver power.
Tempo in your golf swing a key that most golfers overlook... it's a secret weapon for more power and golf swing speed as well as reliable consistency. It should be a foundation of your game to make sure it's as ideal for you and to maintain it. With every shot from irons to driver. Swinging Slower To Hit The Ball Farther
Have you ever been in a situation on the golf course where you hit the ball short distances AND it just goes to the right or left? If so, you’re not alone. In fact, most amateur golfers have trouble hitting the ball straight let alone longer and straighter. And here we are about swing slower to hit the golf ball farther. However, there is a tip from Nick Faldo that can help you overcome this problem - and it’s a bit weird and he calls it Powder puff or power puff.

Faldo said "powder puff", not "power puff". A powder puff is a fluffy ball that women used to use to apply face powder. The term became synonymous with doing something very gently.

Yesterday I proved to myself that your concept really works. The three holes I put maximm effort into were all disasters that lost the match for me. With 80% swing effort I was hitting fairways, getting close to greens and holding my own against a guy with a handicap 10 strokes better and 25 years younger than me. As soon as I tried to match his distance with more effort in my swing, my game went pear shaped and I lost those three holes. Back to 80% swing for the last few holes and all was well with the golf, but three holes of agressive effort lost me the match.

    This helps me with tempo-
I take a practice swing by swinging the Club forward about a foot, and then completing my full backswing.
When I take my real shot, I ‘imagine’ that same feeling of the Club going forward a foot in front of the ball and then returning (before I actually begin the swing).

It’s amazing how often one tries to lay up on a shot with water in front of you and then the shot goes absolutely supremely well straight into the water! Indeed sometimes you even wonder as you’re just about to hit the shot as clean as possible just before swinging and maybe this could go into the water. Alternatively I’m pretty sure some of the biggest drives that I’ve ever made of all come from absolutely nowhere and I wasn’t looking for a big hit I just absolutely hit it out of the middle and with the correct tempo. Another great video that gives us plenty to think about. Well done ❤

Nick Faldos 2 VHS videos were my teacher. Shame they never made it DVD as the contents are as true today as the yever were. Most of my practice is based around 7 iron feet together and a slow swing and timing. It's surprising how far it goes with so little effort.
Take your 7 iron swing to your driver not your driver swing to your 7 iron.

This is likely close to what Faldo was talking about & I've seen the tip elsewhere. It's called the 2/3 drill. Just as a general idea, take whatever club you use for 150 yds and try to hit it 100 with a full swing. Just as your normal full swing, not slower or shorter & you'll be amazed by how it smoothes your tempo relativity quickly. It's not easy to do as you might find although it sounds simple.

yes, it's a great drill. i use are airflow balls to warm up with. and, airflow balls don't go any further when you hit them hard. but, activate the muscle in the left side of the right forearm at the top and you will swing with tempo. in his book, tommy armour told us that the swing was 1 2 and 3. the "and" being a pause at the top. and, when you activate the muscle in the left side of the right forearm it does effect a pause- and, set the downswing into motion when you fully activate the muscle. it's probably best to swing with just your right arm- no club- to get a feel for this.

I think Bryson is doing this too. Yep, just checked the swing speeds and all the tour pros are swinging easier and slower these days. They are also cashing more checks by swinging easier and not working out to get more powerful since all power and distance is from "effortless" swinging. Yes, folks, the laws of physics (Newton didn't know golf was different) has been changed in golf as F=m x a has been debunked. So there is your "weird" tip.
