I'm 21. After 2 years of experimenting with my sleep thanks to lockdown, I have come up with some findings. When I want to change my sleep cycle (circadian rhythm) : I calculate the time I need to hit bed. Example, my sleep cycle is terrible and messed up so I want to wake up at 6 am from tomorrow, plus my sleep time is 8 hours ( I have calculated this by sleeping for a week without an alarm by following sleep schedule) I have my breakfast, lunch and dinner few hours earlier to trick my brain. It's difficult to fall asleep all of a sudden when you change your cycle. So just make sure you have near 0 noise and light hitting you also make sure you do not use your phone or any device except for listening soothing music. Wash your feet and mediate for few minutes if possible. Day 1 will be hard to both sleep quickly and wake up early but day 7 or the day when your cycle is fixed, life becomes beautiful.
I experimented differently... Every day I corrected my sleep schedule by 5 minutes, like before I woke up at 9am, and sleep at 1 or 2 am. First day I put an alarm at 8 55 and used to go to sleep as early I can. Second day at 8 50.... and so on. Right now I have corrected to quiet a better extent, I wake up at 6 am and go to sleep by 11pm. Little difficult but possible. I want to further shift my schedule to waking up at 4 am. My studies are a resistance to it but I know I can do it some day. Getting early is really motivating.
Imao as a heavy sleeper this is actually surprising me 😅 Then again I need to change my timings too since I go to sleep by 11 or 12. But I can't wake up around 6:30AM (which I need to wake up in order to reach my college till 8). Even my dad said my timings of sleep are a bit odd. As a child my mom would usually send me to bed around 9:30PM or 10. It then later became 10:30PM to 11. Then because of my homeworks it extended to 12. Before this lockdown I have actually never went to bed past 12 but since lockdown & with literally no exercise I would binge watch series on my phone & stay awake till like 1:30AM or 2AM (my longest was 2:30AM & it was rare, but only once I went to sleep at 3AM).
I'm glad to say my parents never did this..instead they motivated me to sleep for 8hrs. Instead of being night owl they made me into habit of sleeping early and waking up early in the morning and only after bath to start study...yes it really affected our memory power...you don't feel lazy next day while you study and it also increase your motivation and focus..
I would consider night shifts and evening shifts as one of the reason. I complete my shift at 1am & Sleep by 1:30. I wake up before 9 because I track what's up with stocks from the minute market opens. I only get to sleep more than 8 hours on weekends.
As a 15 year old teen, I often can't sleep at night immidiately after hitting the bed. It definitely takes 30-40 odd minutes to get me slept. I would think of all the passed day.
I am also a teen and I had the same problem but thankfully in the last few months I have been able to sleep within 10-15 minutes. I don't know why it changed but I am glad it did.
Wow man , your topic selection for the video is awesome and quite relatable...I slept on 1:30 am last night and got up on 7 am because I was preparing for my practical exams...
The topic you raised for this video is not new but the interesting fact is no one is talking about importance of sleep. You have clearly expressed the importance of enough sleep for health and economy. Way to go. I am gonna sleep for at-least 7 hour. I follow you becoz of the topics you discuss in your video.
In JEE prep, you are expected to sleep less than 5 hours, while in college the overburdening of assignments inevitable leads to about 6-7 max hrs of sleep
Im 22 and im already feeling the effects of lack of sleep. Im an engineering student and this hectic schedule of 9 to 6 college is eating me out. I have been diagnosed with mild heart issues and brain fog
Honestly, 9 to 6 college is way more accomodating and doable than 7 to 2 school. You can still get 8 hours of sleep, or 7 hours at least. Prioritize yourself.
I think our parents are also at some fault because they despise us sleeping more than a 5-6 hours a day. They also don’t sleep much and believe that sleeping 7-8 hrs a day is for lazy people 😂
I'm 21 and I can't sleep except at night after 12 and I have to get up at 5:30 for gym and classes. I can't sleep at any other time no matter how much I try, my mind won't stop thinking, I try for 1-2 hours almost everyday in the afternoon or evening even when I'm totally sleep deprived and exhausted from gym and classes all day I can't go to sleep except at around 11:30-12 at night. My brain just doesn't shut down.

I can totally relate to what you said. Before the finals of class 9 I had no phone, and I had a good sleep cycle. When my father gave me his old phone to use things started to change a bit. I have social media now, and some time before I was addicted to phone, which even led to a severe headache for 1 week. So now I have reduced my screen time, and I switch off my phone in the night so that no one disturbs me during my sleep.
IT companies are forcing us to work for 14hrs because of foreign clients. Even if working on the development side and not on the support still have to work at late night. How is it possible to take 7-8 hrs sleep in such situations. Indian government has to take some initiative to solve this issue.
So I had this issue of Sleep Paralysis and it always peaked when my stress or anxiety level would get overwhelmingly high. I struggled with my sleep deficiency during my college days that lead to GDA. I overcame my mental disorder and my sleep habits were on the track again. Sleep is super important guys don't underestimate it, deep sleep helps growth hormone to peak. Basically sleep is our superpower.
Mohak you keep springing up with one gem after another. Hands down you have the most original and most important content. Thank you. Have been following your channel from its very beginning. Proud 👏
Mohak, I am school student. In 24 hours , school and tution and travelling consumes about 16 hours of my day hence I only have 8 hours left..If I sleep in those hours there will be like zero hours of my self study and subjects like maths at least needs 3 hours a day and other subjects like social studies, biology over the top terms, physics numericals and subjects like chemistry also needs atleast one hour in a day. I have to go tution 5 days a week. It's hard for me to even think about sleeping, knowing that sleeping is most important for a person my circumstances has convinced me to believe that it is just a waste of my time. I hate drinking any coffee or tea since childhood but still I drink coffee as an medicine to stay awake. Even sometimes I don't sleep whole night and go directly to school. I feel anxious and heavy the whole day. Since months I haven't watched any movie or went out with my friends. Even I didn't had time to celebrate my birthday last month because of my important exam the next day. Our education system and society also doesn't leave any role in pressuring us.
I took sleeping hrs for granted and only slept maximum 5 hrs a day. But after 3yrs of doing this my immunity decreased and also sleep does have a negative impact on our emotions and self control. Most of the people who struggle and are mentally stressed don't get sleep but its the reverse case in reality not getting enough sleep is the cause of mental issues.
@@neetheshmaharaj5133 yes bro, please sleep well and an important thing to remember is quality of sleep is also important not just the quantity. before sleeping even if you had a bad day or stress or an exam next day if you want a peaceful sleep and perform well next day you should pray, talk to yourself, just breathe and stay in the moment, having intention, these things will help you to have a good quality sleep. With good sleep your stress will decrease, memory and grasping power increases. So sleep well. All the best bruh 😁
Same here bro, I too took my sleep for granted for years though it helped me academically well, but now I'm feeling strange for a couple of years. Even small things stresses me, can't remember things for a long time though I'm just 24. I don't feel happy hormones even if something good happens in my life. I feel death would be much peaceful than this. Maybe I'll quit someday.
@@hritikdalal6027 bruh, the only way to feel happy is to maintain a healthy and consistent lifestyle. And you're just 24, you have a great life ahead. I would say start with small steps, by this you feel easy but be consistent. And try to plan your days, don't multitask, and try to sleep for 7 to 8 hrs. And also empty your mind before sleeping by talking to yourself or to God, 5 mins before sleeping and after waking up. Spirituality really helps and say affirmation to yourself that you are happy for the life you have right now and you will make it even great everyday by being disciplined. This is the only way to get better. Very small steps like being consistent with your sleep, writing and planning only before day( avoid long term plans) , and drinking a glass of milk before sleep and a glass of lemon water after waking up. Especially exercise every day atleast a 30 min running. These small steps are very helpful and you will be disciplined and a disciplined lifestyle leads to a happy life. Trust me bro these things really help. You can always ask here. All the best 👍

Aligns your preparation and Makes your revisions shorter and more efficient as well.
I used to have irregular sleeps that caused a lot of problems, but I'm better now. My grandma helped me out. She would cook food early and turn off the light, and tell me to go to sleep. I usually avoid sleep during the day, maybe a 10 minute nap, and feel sleepy at night. But Im working on the phone thing.
Good evening bhaiya I am a first-year student and I have a doubt some people tells us that 7-hour sleep is not necessary but the important thing is that we should have a productive sleep then what should we do as sometimes we only slept for 4 hr and we feel very energetic . Please tell what should we do in these cases?
Don't know why but I hit my bed on 10-11pm but can't sleep before 1-2am. There was a time when I used to sleep in few minutes now it's taking hours😥. Honest advice, suggestions are always welcome.
I am also trying. Putting phone in a different room at 10 pm and read some book until you fall asleep so that you don't think too much about past or future might help. What u say?
I usually fall in sleep in between 11-12 pm, but then I wake up at 3-4 am, then it takes atleast 1-2 hours to sleep again. And it happens more in summer
This happens to me too. Bcoz of keep thinking something in my brain until I sleep automatically. Like I hit bed at 12pm then I keep thinking any story in my brain or what I learned today. Nend 2:30 baje aati he toh mane socha ki padh hi lu Iss time for thak Kar Apne aAp so jounga
One thing which nobody points out and you missed here too is that there is a difference between a irregular, poor quality sleep and a normal sleep. I'm sure there are many people in the comment section who'll say "but i sleep for 8 or more hours, that means I'm good". Not necessarily, my friend. Do you sleep from 2 am to 7 am and then again from 2 pm to 5 pm?? Or do you sleep at 4 am and then wake up at 12 am?? If this is the case, you're still not getting a healthy sleep. Ask yourself, don't you feel dizzy even after getting 8-9 hours of sleep?? The answer could be Yes and the solution to your problem are most of those things which you don't want to do or leave.
Yes unfortunately they r champion in hiding any bad things committed by their nations from the news media...and thus control them to portray themselves as ' developed , happiest ' countries out there.......yu r truly seeing news that they r progressive in all ways
Thankyou so much for making this video . It helped me a lot . Last year when the lockdown got imposed , many people's daily lives including mine got disrupted. I didn't sleep much since the last few days and I got addicted to games . Anyways , thanks a lot once again.
That is because ideal length is 7-8 hrs. Less sleep or more sleep - both are counter productive. And try not to take breaks in between sleeps; you may end up sleeping 7hrs like that but can't get full benefit of 7hrs of sleep in one go.
yes as 17 y/ o student i was also facing the same prblm of sleep and yeah I get that diet plays the major role and no device before sleep and no compromise to sleep

I still have it ....but agreed indian parents put Hell lot of pressure and often compare us with sharma ji ke bache jo raat bhar padate hain
What do you overthinking ?
You should talk to a Psychologist then
@Vikram 😂😂😂 same here
I experimented differently...
Excellent point especially no sound disturbance & no lighting.
You have improved quality of videos and ur conversation style a lot Mohak bro. Wish you all the best!!!
I would consider night shifts and evening shifts as one of the reason.
I complete my shift at 1am & Sleep by 1:30. I wake up before 9 because I track what's up with stocks from the minute market opens.
I only get to sleep more than 8 hours on weekends.
When do you wake up on weekdays
As a 15 year old teen, I often can't sleep at night immidiately after hitting the bed. It definitely takes 30-40 odd minutes to get me slept. I would think of all the passed day.
SAme
1 hr here bro ..(15 year old)
But when i am tired i sleep in few.minutes
I am also a teen and I had the same problem but thankfully in the last few months I have been able to sleep within 10-15 minutes. I don't know why it changed but I am glad it did.
Its normal
Fun fact- Thinking about the whole day before sleeping is actually a good habit only if it doesn't take away 50% of your sleep
Sleeping the most interesting activity God has gifted us😜😆
ESPECIALLY IN WINTERS 😅
There is one more interesting activity 🙂

Or just try to study inorganic chemistry.

बहुत ही ज्ञानवर्धक वीडियो
Wow man , your topic selection for the video is awesome and quite relatable...I slept on 1:30 am last night and got up on 7 am because I was preparing for my practical exams...
It is ok 6 hours
He seems like the class topper.
the *self realised* topper - who now knows about the real world, instead of those who runs just after marks
Anyways, he's just too soft spoken, and he personally said he's an introvert. Soft spoken doesn't mean he's topper
That's why he studied in DPS RK Puram and now he's in Stanford doing MBA
The topic you raised for this video is not new but the interesting fact is no one is talking about importance of sleep. You have clearly expressed the importance of enough sleep for health and economy. Way to go. I am gonna sleep for at-least 7 hour. I follow you becoz of the topics you discuss in your video.
In JEE prep, you are expected to sleep less than 5 hours, while in college the overburdening of assignments inevitable leads to about 6-7 max hrs of sleep
After JEE you will sleep 10 hours a day 😆
Bilkul sahi bole bhai but isko compensate kr skte ho exercises aur meditation wagera se.
dont do it take at least 6hrs or else inorganic and organic yaad nagi hogi as sleep increases retention
umm... I don't think it ever croses that 5hour limit once you get accquainted with anything related to college.

Im 22 and im already feeling the effects of lack of sleep. Im an engineering student and this hectic schedule of 9 to 6 college is eating me out. I have been diagnosed with mild heart issues and brain fog
I thought in college there is less work than in High school due to preparation of Jee.. How is it that even college is hectic..
@@thesevenkingswelove9554 reality is often disappointing my friend.
take care, distance distraction, enjoy nature & (cultivate competence densely or relax)
They also don’t sleep much and believe that sleeping 7-8 hrs a day is for lazy people 😂
Really great video concept!
This video is not for government job aspirants 😐, we sleep only for 5-6 hours😣
Glad to see your analysis on such topic. Much needed 🙏❤️
Once I had appeared for UPSC prelims exam. I came back home, had very little food and slept at 8 PM. I woke up at 5 PM on the next day.
Watching this at 5 AM, and appreciating the video. The irony is not lost on me. 😂
IT companies are forcing us to work for 14hrs because of foreign clients. Even if working on the development side and not on the support still have to work at late night. How is it possible to take 7-8 hrs sleep in such situations. Indian government has to take some initiative to solve this issue.
Which it sectors you are in ?
So I had this issue of Sleep Paralysis and it always peaked when my stress or anxiety level would get overwhelmingly high. I struggled with my sleep deficiency during my college days that lead to GDA.
I overcame my mental disorder and my sleep habits were on the track again.
Sleep is super important guys don't underestimate it, deep sleep helps growth hormone to peak. Basically sleep is our superpower.
Sleep paralysis is terrorising phenomenon, when i first encountered this i didn't what is happening to me but with time it got better.

Schools: *I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that*
I sleep at least 10 hours every day. I think i am contributing a lot to my countrie's economy. After joining collage I will sleep 12 hours a day.

Yeah. Because we want to show to someone that we are right about sleeping 9 hours a day 😁
I took sleeping hrs for granted and only slept maximum 5 hrs a day. But after 3yrs of doing this my immunity decreased and also sleep does have a negative impact on our emotions and self control. Most of the people who struggle and are mentally stressed don't get sleep but its the reverse case in reality not getting enough sleep is the cause of mental issues.

Same here bro, I too took my sleep for granted for years though it helped me academically well, but now I'm feeling strange for a couple of years. Even small things stresses me, can't remember things for a long time though I'm just 24. I don't feel happy hormones even if something good happens in my life. Never drunk or smoke so far in my life got addicted to porn but finally quit that. Everyday has became a battle for me. I wish no one get to face all this.
All the best 👍

solely agreed!!! as a student myself the last I slept was exactly 6 hour 30 minutes and I have been awake from 4 am in the morning and will probably stay awake till 11 pm without any sleep in the noon that routine completely explains your point. however, we also realise that our education system as well as work culture is pressuring that any individual in an attempt to do better or excel will have to go through this extreme sleep schedule or else how will they finish the work?? great topic and great videos I love where your videos take the youth such a positive mindset you have

Bro, as A senior , ( I am in class 12th btw preparing for JEE Mains) , I would highly recommend and stress on that you try to have a fixed night and morning waking time, trust me, It takes around 2 months to make it a habit , but it is seriously beneficial for your daily routine and preparation no matter , if it's an exam day or a regular day. Aligns your preparation and Makes your revisions shorter and more efficient as well.
I used to have irregular sleeps that caused a lot of problems, but I'm better now. My grandma helped me out. She would cook food early and turn off the light, and tell me to go to sleep. UPSC is an exam where toppers are studying for 6-8 hours a day while those are unable to crack are studying 14-16 hours a day.
How much content you absorb, understand is more important than reading or mugging up without understanding something for hours.

I am a first-year student and I have a doubt some people tells us that 7-hour sleep is not necessary but the important thing is that we should have a productive sleep then what should we do as sometimes we only slept for 4 hr and we feel very energetic .
Please tell what should we do in these cases?
It depends upon the person actually, some people feel tired even after 8 hours of sleep while some like you said are energetic even after 4hours sleep
I personally believe sleep schedule is more important than sleep hour. If we sleep from 11PM to 6 AM >>>> 3AM to 10AM

I am also trying. Putting phone in a different room at 10 pm and read some book until you fall asleep so that you don't think too much about past or future might help. What u say?
turn the lights off before 30 min off bed
consume low amount of caffeine
take off you phone before 1 hour before going to bed
Do some activity that forces you to push mentally or atleast physically. When you're exhausted mentally trust me you'll have a more satisfying sleep.

Try 7 hrs in night and 35 min nap in afternoon
That is because ideal length is 7-8 hrs. Less sleep or more sleep - both are counter productive. And try not to take breaks in between sleeps; you may end up sleeping 7hrs like that but can't get full benefit of 7hrs of sleep in one go.
