Patty Duke had such a sad life growing up though achieved so much recognition as a performer. Then not being evaluated as Bi-Polar until so many years later. I think by the time her last marriage came to be she had balanced out. She had a lot of strength despite it all.
My father did not like Patty Duke at all either. In fact he was a tyrant with everything. He hated 'The Beatles,' he said they were conspiring to take over the United States government. So stupid.
I once dated a girl I wasn't attracted to - to please my brother; she was his girlfriend's best friend. I ended up really liking her. Her name was Jenette Hughes. But we had to move from Arizona to Illinois, and I never saw her again.
Sidney Sheldon later reused the title for an "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" episode [April 10, 1967]- the one where Jeannie gets a look into the future to see what might happen if she and "Master" are married....and have kids.
This is sweet and all, but why did everyone just assume he liked that girl and was just shy/scared? Maybe he was running away because he genuinely wasn’t interested.
I was thinking the same thing because I know kids that were actually harassed by other kids in such ways but I decided its just the normal 60s heteronormativity that made the assumption that he's just shy seem so normal. All in all its from a different time period where it was just the expected thing to do so everyone saw it that way I suppose
hilarious we talk about a bygone era of wholesomeness but this is actually more edgy than what we get today.. civil war joke would be taboo for today. the kid griping about women, you would never have that today.
what a horrible hollywood fake southern accent. It's almost as real as the safety chain that guards the mansion door. Whoever installed that chain guard designed it to make it easy to unlatch from the inside or outside lol
Ross: "She's not a woman, she's Mom" 😆 The way he described married life is to a T. It's different in the 21st Century but essentially the same. Lesson here: don't ever get married/get a baby mama. Nobody needs a ball n chain.
this apparent attitude of seeing other human lives as nothing except either "pleasure for you" or "an inconvenience to you" dehumanizes everyone who encounters it and dehumanizes, most, your own self.
@@sleepCircle Well said! My heart breaks because of the ignorance of younger generations. Many of them seem to place value on people only for what they can do to satisfy their needs. The term "baby mama" only proves just how far we have fallen as a culture. They seem to believe that having enough respect for a woman to marry her is anything but a loving gesture; to them, it's just absurd!
Ross just needed to tell his parents NO Way! Of course, this is a sitcom about teenagers and preteens as Ross is. How they choice that girl actress I don't know she was just too boring and not funny, the accent was not real on her.
I had heard of the patty Duke show but never saw it until now.It is a cute show.
One of my favorite programs growing up. Glad to see this. 😀 the little Southern girl sounds like me talking lol
That's sweet. I like the way she talks.

The little boy's acting is very good - very good acting talent at that young age.

Me too. I grew up with them, and now I've rediscovered them and am enjoying them so much.
My father did not like Patty Duke at all either. In fact he was a tyrant with everything.

35th what a sweet episode - revolving around Ross
Such a sweet episode! Thank you for posting these. :-D
Yes, this "classic" show is very FUNNY!
Sidney Sheldon also used this episode's title for an April 1967 "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" episode.
Sidney Sheldon was a genius.
RIP Patty Duke :'(
What a great portrayal of America, we need this again
Yes with different actors/actresses
She's beautiful when she's angry 24:24 ! Love it when women get teed off over ingratitude!

Did anyone mention how pretty Patty Duke looks in pants....
P.S. 8 is a real school in Brooklyn.

Awe leave Ross alone. He's a sweetheart compared to the way my older brother treated me! LOL

Poor Ross, the quickest way to damage a young boy is being forced to deal with a girl or woman he’s not attracted too. Dad should have stepped up.

@@MrMenefrego1 Did you actually fall for her or the Poo-Nanny LOL 😝?
@@Solitaryman70 I was 15 years old, and all we did was talk and kiss.
Ah! Memories! *Girls,ew, Cooties!* _Until that Cupid hits ya! And our brains go out of whack_ 😍💘

16:00 And to think, Patty will be using that exact same accent in a later episode in Season 2.
This is sweet and all, but why did everyone just assume he liked that girl and was just shy/scared? Maybe he was running away because he genuinely wasn’t interested.
It is TV. Duke was so beautiful.
Maybe he needed dating tips from lt commander work from star trek the next generation

Treasure high school while you can. It does not last forever. Responsibility comes along soon enough
POOR ROSS!

It's a flip. People like to go on and on about the things that were taboo back then, not realizing how many things have become taboo now.
She looks African American
