Relieve pelvic pain using a wand… it’s almost magic!

  • Persistent pelvic pain can be devastating. Though not necessarily the cause of your symptoms, often the pelvic floor muscles at the base of the pelvis are in spasm and having them manually released by a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist can relieve symptoms.
Do you have Interstitial Cystitis or Bladder Pain and want to know how to relieve your symptoms? Check out my 10 week online course: 50 videos, 4.5 hours of rewatchable information, exercise and relaxation sessions to start getting control of your bladder: www.jillybond....
That isn't the WHOLE Therawand story though... have a watch here for that: • Its not about the wand...
If having your pelvic floor released improves your symptoms you can use a therapeutic wand to get the same relaxation in your pelvic floor by yourself at home. This is great for those moments when you have to take a long car journey or eat something that sets off your pain - use the wand and hey presto! You’re feeling a bit better again. (Do make sure a qualified health professional has assessed you fully and taught you how first). Doing this regularly alongside physiotherapy can really help you to change your symptoms and to feel confidently in control of your own body again. It’s not for everyone, but if you feel this might help you, keep reading…
But, the secret is... It's not about the wand. With the vast amount of fantastic research coming out we've moved on from theories of "trigger points" in muscles to a better explanation of peripherally and centrally driven "tension myalgia" within a muscle. The muscle is painful, not because there's a problem with the muscles, but because the brain considers it under threat and so interprets signals from the area as threatening, and emits pain as a response to those signals. Pain is an output from the brain, not an input - you don't get pain in a part of your body which transmits up to your brain, it's up to the brain to determine how signals from the body are interpretted.
Like your physiotherapist's finger, the wand creates a counterirritation response (stamping on one foot often makes you forget about a headache) which provides natural pain relief to be released from the brain, reduces any localised inflammation around the pelvic nerves, provides local and centralised desensitisation of the pelvic floor muscles (the nerves aren't so jumpy anymore, and the way they're interpretted is much more relaxed by the brain). But most importantly the wand can give you a sense of control over your own condition, which is known to reduce the actual pain you experience. Cool! It's not about reducing the tension of the muscle or getting rid of knots, it's the process the muscle and whole vaginal region goes through by using a wand regularly that achieves a more relaxed muscle state and that in the end results in reduced pain, urgency and frequency in BPS. It's not the wand, it's not trigger points.
And if you don't want to use a wand or can't afford one you can always try using your thumb instead. It works just as well.
Having said all that... here's how to use it... www.jillybond.c...
Note: This video is provided as general advice only and does not replace medical advice or treatment. I would always insist that you seek help from a qualified pelvic health specialist physiotherapist, or if you don't have access to one please at least see your local doctor.

I’m a guy and I’m having pelvic floor dysfunction. My PFPT gave me one of these to use for internal work, as the internal work she has been doing has been helping me greatly. I’m a little scared but I think it will be perfectly safe if I am gentle and careful. It’s quite amazing how many people suffer from this, both male and female. Thank you for this video.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. You could try using a dilator to press and hold down different muscles inside the pelvic floor (it doesn’t need to be a large dilator, just something that’s easier than using your fingers inside the vagina to massage and do press and release trigger point therapy on yourself). I’ve used this method since I have muscle spasms due to a disease affecting my nerves

CarrieAnn Hello! My story is very similar as yours. I had chronic UTI's and then it felt like I had interstitial cystitis but when I came back from the urologist with negative cytoscopy (normal bladder walls) I was told I needed a psychiatrist and such. They sent me for PT but I think some exercises made it worse so I stopped. I only figured super recently that I had non relaxing pelvic floor dysfunction that cause ALL my symptoms (fake urge to pee, pelvic pain, extreme constipation, back pain, vulva pain etc.). I wish you good luck in your recovery and I promise we'll get better! Stay strong. Now that we found what we have were going to get the right treatment! Feel free to discuss with me!

They want to prescribe antibiotics all the time. No help. Then to the urologist and physical therapist to work on pelvic floor relaxation as well as fascia release all around my butt, hips, thighs and abdomen. I broke the pelvis in 22 places and dislocated the SI joint, so it's all making sense now that I see the models. Sciatic and pudendal nerve entrapment. If surgery is found to be an option I can fine, good. But I'm holistic and would rather find a way to allow my body to release these impinged nerves. This may be it. Time will tell. Hello and thank you so much for sharing this great info! I'm blessed to live near an amazing PT who specializes in treating PFD. I've got too much "stuff" to list without putting you to sleep. Including PFD, IC, numerous kidney stones. Total hyster age 39 (ovarian mass). Been a while since I've seen my PT, my symptoms are recurring with a vengeance. Seen my Dr, until I get back in with my PT I've started using my Therawand, doing exercises she and I worked on prior. I know female/male pelvic pain can be an embarrassing subject to discuss. I also know how hard it is trying to live/function with devastating pain/symptoms that can go along with leaving it untreated. Besides being informative, your video helps decrease some of the embarrassment/stigma that can surround these issues. Thanks again!

hmmm I have a digital watch, LoL...... I'm a male and I've had acute and chronic Prostatitis for 36 years. I read about this wand in the book a headache in my pelvis.. I had a very hard time using it, so uncomfortable and I even used the Jell called Relax Anal Lubricant made by Clean Stream as it has a mild anesthetic in it. I'm actually think of going to my Gastro Dr. and asking him to make my butt bigger so I easily use these tools.. Years of IBS have taken their toll on my butt too. I have the set of stretching guides that start out from small to larger in diameter about an inch, but I've not gotten past the thinnest one and even that was super uncomfortable. I have even taken a pain pill to help with that uncomfortable (to say the least) feeling. It even hurts badly to get a digital exam at the doctors. However you teaching is pretty cool here...
I am assuming that 12 0'clock is pointing toward the penis and 6 O'clock is pointing toward the anus, then move the wand from side to side? I know this is youtube and family oriented but would be a big help to see a demonstration, perhaps you could find a medical dummy like they use in doctor training to demonstrate with, and showing it as if the person was by himself, IE, reaching between his own legs, and inserting the wand in the proper positions , etc.... Extending my conversation on 11/14/2018, after 3 turps and one tuna, they have taken out that can be taken out over the years, without ruining my urine track. I have went on to find I also have a tight pelvis and Yoga moves from Doctor Wise's books have helped a lot plus I found a physical therapist on UA-cam that demonstrates these yoga exercises from Dr. Wise's book, A Head Ache in the Pelvis. I also take two different kind of mussel relaxers. I also have IBS so the wand hurts to bad to use.. Most urologists say they have never seen Prostatitis that also the patient didn't have bowel problems, I started out with diarrhea and over the years has transformed into constipation. I also have interstitial cystitis I got about 10 years into the disease. I also take meds for that and antibiotics. No matter how you slice it, this is one nasty disease if you have it bad enough. I first got it in late 70's at a young age, and I'm now 65 still fighting with this horrid disease.

I’ve been suffering for about 4 months now, and the only thing that helped even remotely was Robaxin. Naproxen made things more painful for me, however the Robaxin took away the pain. I still have pressure and a fullness feeling in my pelvis (I can’t sit either), however I’ve been doing much better these last two weeks. I was borderline suicidal before, so I completely understand your pain.

I've got one of these, and looked at just about every video and read every pelvic pain book I can get my hands on that talks about using the wand for male pelvic pain, and my conclusion after months of trying - the wand doesn't work very well in men. Also, regular use of this kind of device runs a high risk of damaging the delicate rectal and anal structures. My experience is the feedback from using the wand is poor compared to using a gloved finger. You can be much more careful with a finger. Stretching, relaxing, external trigger point work, and occasional internal trigger point work with a gloved finger (where you can be more delicate and get much more precise feedback) works better.

    • @jillybond1502
      @jillybond1502  7 років тому +7

HI Robert. I'm sorry to hear you've not had a great response to the wand. There's actually quite a lot of data showing it's not dangerous for rectal structures as long as it's suitable to you and you have a medical professional supervising you (someone to check you're doing it right). However... I agree that a gloved finger is a great alternative! I often ask women to use their thumbs or dexterous men to use their fingers. Yes, I agree you can be so much more subtle with a finger and get great results. It's also a really good way to get your brain to desensitize the area as it's you doing it, and you're not threatening. Thanks for sharing and I hope you're feeling better.

I would see a pelvic health physio if you're struggling with this during pregnancy. Physiologically it's not contraindicated if you've not been medically barred from having sex, but it's a minefield that I would just avoid if you can. See a professional.

Have it checked by a specialized physio. This could be due to other reasons. There are lots of reasons for pelvic and hip pain to name a few: radiating pain from hip joint, constipation, gastric ulcers, compressed nerves, inflammations, iliopsoas spasm and so on. This video is for home exercises after proper patient education and good understanding of condition. Your physio will teach you how to do this technique if this is warranted. Does this help?

Hello, dear Jilly and all those who are familiar! Thank you so much for your work!) I'm 22 years old, I'm sick Augustus 13 years. In May last year, the CCPS was diagnosed. To me, like many others, many doctors treated for non-existent uroinfectious diseases. Are you familiar with the following symptoms and what are their causes? Possible spasm Pear-shaped or internal blocking muscle? Symptoms
in the dominant role are provoked and provoked by friction and
consequent ejaculation, most often on the right side of the body. Painful
ejaculation, erasure of orgasm, pain with cold numbness, goose bruises,
in the penis, scrotum, across the foot to the feet, at the base of the
penis and scrotum with transition to a single articular part and inner
thighs in the perineum, lower back, anterior Part
behind the pelvic bones, buttocks, tenderness of the rectum after the
sphincter, especially after sexual stress, mandatory urination to
urinate, painful filling of the bladder after ejaculation, pause before
    urination (forced relaxation The
resistance of the lower abdomen to urination and sperm Overvoltage,
compressive stress in a single articulation with the transition to the
inner thigh (as if twisted by a rope), muscle weakness before poor
stretching of the leg, instability of erection, anorgasmia, pain in the
armpits (often on the right) Of how the disease tended to overstrain the muscles of the groin, buttocks, lower stomach. During
my illness I suffered from 9 months of cicatricial phimosis with
balanoposthitis (later it was circumcised), a nervous tic. At the age of 9 he had a compression fracture of the spine in the thoracic region. At the age of 16 he was ill with measles. Excellent
helps rectal massage (before the disappearance of symptoms and recovery
of all functions), sexual rest for 2-3 days, hot bath, but new friction
and ejaculation return symptoms. Thank you in advance!
