We have these at Fort Totten and I ride the metro too and I was happy so happy we went to freedom plaza on the metro to 5k and walked after we walked we found a metro station metro center for the red line to fort Totten it’s so good to ride the metro and everyone pays the fare with their smart trip cards
And what do you know it’s the same demographic that never pay their fare and are criminal nationwide. Best thing to do is floor to ceiling gates that can’t open without a ticket including in an emergency. Next is to charge fare evaders the full fare they should have paid multiplied by 365 for a full years worth of fare evading paid. Do this per person.
Go to Bethesda and Friendship Station. One evening i saw about 20 melanin deficient jumping the gates. Oh, also Appalachian Mountains, Trailer Parks and Opiod/Meth Crisis!
The same demographic which inhabits all of southeast DC and makes it so dangerous that a person cannot even stop their car at a red light without a high risk of being car jacked or killed. I actually never use the bridge down by RFK stadium since the area is incredibly dangerous and there are constant carjackings and murders@@ronaldrotich78
Brilliant idea. So when "them gates" get broken, the perpetrators will be cited for destruction of property AND theft of services. Not to mention the sheer embarrassment of everyone seeing how much of a loser they are when committing that crime. They can regale of those tales of glory while wearing their orange jumpsuits in prison.

I’m laughing at the fact that they made the gates taller but totally forgot about the tiny fence next to it that people just use instead.
Some one is going to get killed falling onto the tracks

Just put a police officer or guard at the gates, my country does it, why cant the US

How did fare evasion change when Metro abolished paper magnetic strip fare cards and set a minimum price of $10 for SmarTrip cards?
The guy at 0:47 looks like the mayor of Whoville’s son off Horton hear a Who 😭😭.

Interesting how ALL the people jumping the fences and gates appear to be the same demographic
Yeap, descendants of American Slavery. I think there ancestors have more than paid for a free rail ride. Don't you think?

I KNOW D.C. has the money to make the Metro FREE for EVERYONE.
There has to be a middle ground. If its free, the homeless will come there and ruin it. However it still has to be affordable for normal individuals.

Free metro in DC. What about Maryland and Virginia?
Mind your business.
