Instead of flour, use baking soda (not powder) for grease or oil fires. Less reactive and less likely to ignite if your powder goes airborne as you pour it on the flame. Keep a box under my skin next to the fire extinguisher so i don't ruin the kitchen for little fires (if they happen)
I laughed to myself when she said she touched her eyes after cutting spicy peppers when I first started cooking (at age 70) I cut up spicy peppers then went into the bathroom to urinate ouch, ouch!!! Never made that mistake again, Lol.
Didn't expect baking soda and water, but as someone who messes with spicy peppers quite a bit, wash your hands with DISH SOAP. Regular hand soap will not get all the oils off your skin.
Once I cut red peppers, nothing spicy really. But somehow that particular pepper inflicted hours long burn on my hand. I tried everything to 'douse' it. Milk, oil, bicarbonate, soap, vinegar, nothing worked. I had to take paracetamol to alleviate the pain. Cutting peppers is a dangerous task. Never underestimate the peppers 🔥
Yeah I skipped just immediately to him. He is truly a well rounded authority in how he delivers his message. He's one of the teachers you wish you got in grade school type of vibe. I want to follow what he's doing. Also it's something so relatable.. cutting vegetables. He's respectable.
I actually recently sliced off part of my nail with a peeler while peeling a potato, so don't underestimate those little innocent looking things ;) blood gushing and everything, but no hospital thankfully ;)
I love all of the new cast. I LOVE the old also! But, I LOVE the diversity of culinary techniques and flavors!!!! And personalities, it comes together really well ❤️❤️
If you use chilli peppers a lot, cutting them regularly will mean that you wont feel any pain. My Indian mom feels nothing when cutting hot chilli peppers coz she just got used to it.
when cutting anything on a cutting board make sure the cutting board is on a non slip surface and that the cutting board isnt slick or if it is make some gashes with a knife in the surface to give the food some texture to grab onto while your cutting it
Flour can ignite on electric too, I've seen it happen when someone added a cup of flour into a pan and missed, it was a quick little fireball that made them eyebrowless
One thing I would say about deep frying turkey is to pat it as dry as possible before the plunge. She talked about the water content, but didn't mention doing that so there ya go
keep surfaces, cooking equipment and utensils clean and sanitized, wash raw veggies in a salad spinner, cook meat to proper temp, avoid cross-contamination.
New BA is kinda boring….😕😣. I miss the natural cander, silliness and dynamic of the old cast. It was just a lot more lighthearted, fun, and loving. You could really feel the love, you know? I’ve been trying so hard to get back into this channel, but it’s been so tough. Love Harold tho….
I'm gonna say I am that person that took a good chunk off my finger with that peeler that he used for the squash, I'm left handed an it was made for a right hand person. So yes I am that person 😆 🤣
Dollar General sells it, Walmart has some for like 2 dollars too. They typically come in a roll, the one I bought the other week was called EasyLiner Select Grip
How about washing knives? I just cut my pinkie to the BONE because I didn't realize I hold my scrubbie brush like the Queen holds a teacup. I need a better way but don't know where to start!
The old cast left they hired new people. That’s worth getting mad about. And you have the nerve to call liberals snowflakes. I can’t imagine being so stupid.
No one is forcing you to watch, just unsub. Plenty of cooking channels out there. The old crew is not coming back, most aren't even with BA anymore. Not to mention that most comments on here love the new crew.
It’s too bad the chemistry is so off now, nobody seems like they actually like each other any more. It’s a weird tension, makes the videos hard to watch. ☹️
I feel like that's the entire world at this point. I think it's happened at EVERY group run channel I used to watch and love. Gaming, cooking, comedy, literally every channel. It's like they have a checklist to complete with every video, where even if the people aren't comfortable with each other, put them together for the checklist. Funny thing is, the only one that seems comfortable with everyone else is the white male... Just something I notice everywhere these days. And it's pretty depressing if I'm honest.
I appreciate the caution about peppers, but if you don’t want heat, why use them? or use a small amount. The only peppers I devein are the sweet or mild peppers, particularly for stuffed pepper (chiles rellenos); but for hot ones 🥵, I just chop or slice the whole thing as is.
At least for Thai chilies, don't dispose the seeds lol. I have never seen a Thai cook getting rid of seeds before putting in chilies in their food ever. If you want less spiciness, just put less chilies in.
Since it looks like they used zero proof alcohol I doubt they were worried 😂 I'm surprised they didn't mention, in regards to safety, to be aware of the proof with whichever liquor you use .
So when are you guys going to make a video on the actually dangerous things chefs and cooks do in kitchens everyday instead of just the mildly dangerous things we do on the regular?
So far.......this is kitchen common sense.....I have used torches in during super busy shifts and been just fine......first that banana foster is wrong and new agey. You do it at the table with an orange peel twist......peppers I make hotsauce for a living. I honestly never use gloves but I also don't touch my eyes......flat fish this was a good one it's a lot harder then a normal fish. Easy to mess up........frying big birds NEVER use tongs to place your bird. Get a meat hook.....also flour is flammable don't use flour....cutting not bad
Surprised to not see cutting with a mandolin here
Then it would be called 7 Dangerous Cooking Tasks.
@@mattsnyder4754 aren’t all of these dangerous if you’re not paying attention?
It's so dangerous no one wanted to demonstrate it. 🥴
Can't you like hold the vegetables to the mandolin with a hand towel or Terry cloth to protect your hand? Is it still dangerous if you do?
They would have lost at least one intern during filming.
im finally getting back to this channel. i missed it. i miss the pre-cancellation chefs but im super open to these guys! Great video!
Should've brought Brad in to talk about the dangerous task of washing vegetables.
I really like watching the chefs teach each other. the partnering is a good format
Harold did a really nice job demonstrating the fish filleting!
He made it seem so easy! First time I did it, I destroyed that fish💀🤣
Instead of flour, use baking soda (not powder) for grease or oil fires. Less reactive and less likely to ignite if your powder goes airborne as you pour it on the flame. Keep a box under my skin next to the fire extinguisher so i don't ruin the kitchen for little fires (if they happen)
I came to say not to use flour too. It hasn't happened to me but have heard two stories about flour catching fire & causing problemos 😳
I want to see more with Harold and Jessie, give them their own show please.
I laughed to myself when she said she touched her eyes after cutting spicy peppers when I first started cooking (at age 70) I cut up spicy peppers then went into the bathroom to urinate ouch, ouch!!! Never made that mistake again, Lol.
Just a note, I want more videos with Harold!
Didn't expect baking soda and water, but as someone who messes with spicy peppers quite a bit, wash your hands with DISH SOAP. Regular hand soap will not get all the oils off your skin.
Legit

Chrissy may be one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen, and INSANELY talented.
Love how Chris gets his explanations out!.
Good job to ALL
Good content!.

@@jetizon I completely agree. I would also recommend microwaving squash before cutting it as it softens the skin making it easier.
Jesus the sound that was made when Chris caressed the wooden board I wanted to die
working as a former bartender, people ALWAYS cut their hand on a y-peeler trying to get a citrus garnish during a rush. Many to the ER haha
"It might burn your microwave. And you don't want that. "
"The danger is real. It's real." "BYE, BYE HAROLD."

Seeing u guys having fun makes me wonder about choises in my life.

I enjoy these videos! One, thing though, as a personal preference, I never get rid of the seeds in hot peppers.
cat litter is the best for cleaning up oil spills, since it clumps up and makes it easy to clean up afterwards.
Salt works better and isn't as expensive
Okay Chris I see you out here with that white band DW-5600. Classic classic
Watch nerds unite🫶
But who has the toughest hands? Let’s see a hot pan grab test! 😂 jk obviously. Stay safe BA!
Sounds hella cool
great video, super educational and loved the pacing! keep it up yall
Dabbers lookin' at that torch technique
thank you for this video! everyone's advice was on point!

11:40 wouldn't use AP flour to soak up oil if you cook over flame and it's on though....
Flour can ignite on electric too, I've seen it happen when someone added a cup of flour into a pan and missed, it was a quick little fireball that made them eyebrowless

Nice video & great to watch 😊
That awkward moment when you are the goober who sliced off part of your finger with a Y peeler 😅
I did too!
I love all the cursing (chris); just the perfect amount of spice
I really liked the tip of using water to measure how much oil you’d need to deep fry a turkey. That’s a new one for me, and really helpful.
Any tips on avoiding foodborne illnesses?
keep surfaces, cooking equipment and utensils clean and sanitized, wash raw veggies in a salad spinner, cook meat to proper temp, avoid cross-contamination.
BATK has gone downhill but the Harold and Chris demos were spot on.
Thought they'd bring up oil fires with the Turkey frying situation lol
Uncle Harold in the House.. Yey
The kitchen is a dangerous place, I've cut myself on a measuring spoon before. Gotta respect all the things around you- HACCP baby
Boning a turkey whole is a fantastic lesson in safety.

I think we all agree.
Wasn't woke enough . Too many straight Caucasians .
but behind the scenes turns out they were not loving and nice to each other.
Took years for BA to hit its peak with the old crew. They started with stiff videos too.
amazing
Guy: dies to a y-peeler.
Same Guy: wins Darwin award.
Is it me or was it a little odd to get Chrissy, a plant based chef, to watch a fish being blowtorched 😂
harold should make drill songs
People who smoke dabs watching this like: 💅👀

Any ideas where I can find the shelf liner that was put under the cutting board?
Grocery stores sell them usually next to pans/utensils
Literally anywhere they sell kitchen items, walmart, grocery store, dollar store, etc....and to state the obvious, Amazon
Use a wet kitchen towel.
Dollar General sells it, Walmart has some for like 2 dollars too. They typically come in a roll, the one I bought the other week was called EasyLiner Select Grip
A wet towel works great and has more than 1 purpose
I miss the old crew
Were the old crew competent at least? Were they better at "cookery" lol
BRING THE OLD CREW BACK. BRING THE OLD CREW BACK
No mandolin or cheese grater?
wow so glad I found out today that fire can be dangerous, thanks friends.
shut up, honestly
This channel after the implosion has just cobbled videos together lol read that headline
You guys forgot one very important tip: never cook drunk!
love the diversity
I cut my pinky finger tip off with a Y peeler. There is no plaque in Brooklyn Methodist for me, though.
How about washing knives? I just cut my pinkie to the BONE because I didn't realize I hold my scrubbie brush like the Queen holds a teacup. I need a better way but don't know where to start!
Good
Rachel’s segment was great 😊😍
NEED MORE OF UNC
Right, tongs are gonna help me grab the turkey!
Chrissy looks so gorgeous in every video 😭
Its much better to use salt to put out grease fires.
oh yeah squash super dangerous
I love rachel
i miss the days when BA didn't have to make sure they check every box
ai, si then go watch something else.
oh no!! more representation on screen!! how awful!! 🙄
The old cast left they hired new people. That’s worth getting mad about. And you have the nerve to call liberals snowflakes. I can’t imagine being so stupid.
Surprised why you never emphasize how important it is to pinch the blade while cutting.
Nobody wanted to tell torch lady that her hair was messed up?
I'm gonna say what everyone is thinking. We miss the old crew.
Bro, it's been over two years now, move on, go outside, touch some grass.
No I agree, it’s not the same, like a watered down substitute.

I love my girl. I have read that seeds are not additive to heat. More so they are poor flavor additions.
Flour is flammable. Use baking soda. I keep baking soda next to my stove. Never use water or flour on a grease/oil fire. Baking soda people.
Somebody has probably done it
ha watch me take a rack of ribs directly off the oven with no shoes on

Only two people are wearing proper kitchen clothing.
And one of these people is wearing a fuzzy sweater that would probably burn / melt during a flambe situation????
Since it looks like they used zero proof alcohol I doubt they were worried 😂 I'm surprised they didn't mention, in regards to safety, to be aware of the proof with whichever liquor you use .
