Rusty Ruins Zone (Act 2) - Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn Version) [ Extended ]

- This is one of my favorite classic Sonic songs. It is from the video game Sonic 3D Blast, for Sega Saturn. It was composed by Richard Jacques. Hope you enjoy!
Hello, thank you for all the views and comments! Glad to know so many people love this song, I'm glad I extended it and uploaded it!
Just thought I'd go ahead and mention that the rest of my channel has other entertainment projects, like a multimedia comedy drama about Donkey Kong and Ace Attorney. I'd really love if you guys check out some of my other uploads, hopefully you'll find something you enjoy!
Which version of the game's soundtrack do you recommend on SONIC 3D BLAST? Sega Genesis or on Sega Saturn? 🪐
@@Shinigami_Striker I think they both offer different good things! Genesis is more like chiptunes because of the soundchip, which feels more video game-y. Saturn is more orchestrated with realistic sounding instruments. I personally like Saturn better, but I love both! =)
That seems fair. ✌ ✌
Saturn-era Sonic music was a whole different type of vibe I don’t think we’ll ever experience again
There's always the Saturn mod for Sonic Mania
Sonic Frontiers comes close with the cyberspace zones as well as Chaos Island.
@@MariktheGunslingerhow so with chaos Island?
@@MariktheGunslingerESPECIALLY CHAOS ISLAND!!!

I love how they changed Hill Top Zone's music into this in Sonic Speed Simulator. So far one of my favorite Sonic music
Sad to see sonic runners get no representation
ye but it dosent fits hill top at all
Must have been because of licensing issues. Man, Classic Sonic's legendary tracks dont even belong to Sega :/
I appreciate Sonic Speed Simulator bringing attention to obscure sonic music to a new generation of sonic fans.
If I recall correctly, Sonic 3d Blast, alongside Sonic R, was developed entirely by Travelers Tales.
That would also include the music from both games.
The music from the other official Sega made and produced classic Sonic games were entirely of SEGA's doing, though.
2:02
That part... THAT PART! That key change has a very powerful, emotional effect on me. So beautiful...😭
Amazing part.
This dude gets it 👍🏿
I think it's not a key change because after that the key seems to remain the same. Maybe it is a weird chord outside of the key.
That switch up at 2:02 remind me of final fantasy 15 game pause menu theme… well this game came out 1st tho
@@PyrexNemobeats Key changes and chords outside the key are general musical theory. Which means that anybody can use them. There is no plagiarism there.
I only ever knew the Genesis tracks... this is quite nice. Like Enigma took over a Sonic soundtrack heh
It does sound like Enigma's song.
im with you on that, only ever played sega american version bought it day one with the promotional t shirt that's always a adults size but damn this track.
I always wondered why sonic team never brought back this style of music for the special stages in their later sonic games.
It's chill, relaxing, mystical and adventurous. All the perfect things needed for a special stage, minus the speed; it would make those parts feel like you went to another world than a minigame.
Don't worry, Sonic Frontiers its bringing back Chill Sonic Music back finally.
Porque Team Sonic no creo este juego, fue Travellers Tales.
Is Blossom Haze (press garden act 2) a thing that suits your needs?
y la musica la hizo un externo que en aquel entoncea rreglaba los soundtracks de muchos juegos de sega para america, el compositor era Richards Jacques , el hizo la musica de shinobi x USA y de sonic R
Richard Jacques's Sonic tracks are underrated. I wouldn't mind if he was brought back if someone like Jun Senoue isn't available.
@Amidamaru really sucks hideki left sega, but I'm sure it's for the best. I heard he's working with the creators of Lethal League to make the soundtrack for a game very similar to jet set radio future in aesthetics and gameplay.
likewise
@@kazoomer4373 I'm pretty sure he already did, no? Is the Lethal League Blaze OST not his work?
@@jaredtherock5692 yeah he's also doing the soundtrack for bomb rush Cyberfunk
but he's still making Sonic songs
*This sounds like something a intellectual rapper would rap off of. Like "free your mind & elevate" type of rap.*

Back in the day I think this would have fallen under the category of "New Age", or a related genre.
@@PsychicAlchemy i agree
Eric B. and Rakim, I would think at the top of my head.
I thought of Common right away
This is almost all I've listened to for the the last 6 months
It's full of nostalgia...

FINALLY I FOUND A 30 MINUTE EXTENDED VERSION, thank u
is that you shadow?
@@Sonictrainkid indeed it is, and i approve this song
I had the saturn version as a kid and this helps me remembering the good parts of my childhood.
Ps. Damn shadow, I never knew you love cheese so much from your expression
@@jmcdrawer5031 good for u, and yes i love cheese alot
The 90s had it's own feel, from video games to the music. this right here has that feel.

😂
Bruh lol
This is my go to song for studying. So peacefull
This sounds remarkably like something you would hear in Donkey Kong Country!
I never listened to the Saturn version of the OST, so when it was added to SSS it was so good I thought it was a Sonic Unleashed night theme I forgot about.
This gives off the same vibes as songs like Stickerbush Symphony
This one fits the level more than the Genesis version.
Thank you Speed Simulator
I think sonic 3D blast (Sega Saturn) may be the greatest game soundtrack of all time!
Sonic CD though
I hope i dont see some angry (insert game soundtrack) fans that just dont know the concept of a "opinion"
Both versions of 3D Blast and Sonic CD are peak
this track introduced me to DnB
any sonic speed sim fans here?
Yes.
S.s.s (sonic speed simulator) is slowly reviving my hope for roblox
Yee
Yes
that game fire
This takes me back so many years and looking back... it was good then. Thanks for posting this.
This is so-calming......thank you so much....😌....every time I hear it- it's like I'm hearing it for the first time....
y'know, this was one of my fav songs, and it was always weird to me that any of the compilation disks had different music, but now I see, the saturn and pc versions are the only ones with this music and are probably the best way to play this in my opinion
This and the genesis port is good.
it's a Saturn port of a genesis game
@@toaster5147 my bad
It sounds like lofi music, as it sounds amazing, even on the Sega Saturn.
It sounds like lofi hip hop because that has existed for like 40 years 😂
@@MrInuhanyou123 Oh, THAT long!? Huh, I never realized it transcended in video game music, too!
It took me forever to figure out that this was the theme for Hill Top Zone in Sonic Speed Simulator. I always thought it was from Sonic CD. Still a very great theme.
I still listen to this in 2024
0:25 for some reason this part reminds of being a little kid
That calm flute has a sound effect similar to the one used in most children cartoons during specific instances, especially when involving describing a certain area or previous event related to it.
When I hear it I think of an old man describing a forest in which some kind of magic mcguffin that will define the character's adventures lies.
@@perrypro1263 I think of shows like aurthor and stuff like that
Sounds like something i would hear on crack. Also that forward facing classic sonic is tripping balls.
Sonic CD, 3D Blast, R, and OVA all are crack visions.
@@440hurtz4 Yep.
FAVORITE videogame music of any I ever played! Especially Rusty Ruins 1-2 💙
Best sonic song imo 🙏
i love the piano part at 0:43
Ah, Sonic games always knew how to create a powerful atmosphere with music and visuals. What a shame they stopped doing games after 1996 so the next games didn't suck.
There were some plans to do more. But as of 2010 the series is dead for good.
What are you going on about
@@austinreed7343 they made at least 25 games since 1996 what are you talking about

Not only is this in sonic speed simulator, it's in Survive The Disasters 2
No wonder i'm in love with this soundtrack, i've listened to it before!
Used to play that game alot, and now it's all starting to come back...
glad thefurryfox is extremely based in his(?) taste of music
this is where top hill music from sonic speed simulator comes from

The song so beautiful it brings back lot memories as a child also this is my cousin favorite Sonic game his a big fan of Sonic, his 33 years old now and he still love Sonic game until now,
anyway thanks for upload this wonderful memories song ❤
This one is better than the genesis one.
Definitely one of the most underrated songs ever.
Sounds like it came straight from Donkey Kong Country 2, in the best way possible!
That switch up at 2:02 remind me of final fantasy 15 game pause menu… well this game came out 1st tho but still. I never got to play the sonic 3D blast Saturn version tho
this makes me forget about bad things
This is from sonic 3d blast??? I definitely didn't know that.
thank you based god
This legit sounds like something you'd hear in Opoona or any type of sci-fi JRPG.
This music reminds me of anthracite steam locomotives
I AM ASCENDING INTO HEAVEN BECAUSE THIS SONG MAKES ME WANT TO CRY OF TEARS OF JOY I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! 😎🎧🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵 🥹🥹🥹
One of the few Saturn tracks that's better than the Genesis OST.
I thought they was as good. But DAMN the fucking Saturn loading loloading what a fourth-gen title
@@mistamontiel00 I mean if you want something like the Saturn version but with far better load times you could always use the PC version (the old one from the 90s not the steam version which just emulated the Genesis) as its based on the Saturn version (just with worse special stages and a few mist effects missing) But on anything remotely resembling modern hardware will it load near instant.
And the Genesis version is really good. But this... something about this is timeless.
@@mistamontiel00 The Japanese version is worth seeking out, because they cut the loading in half.
@@nekomarulupin I think I spun that one of my last burns, load still tedious was average boost if I remember

i sware sonic cd's R2 would sound like this.
Exactly what I was looking for.
1:35 "You really are an arsehole"
Rusty Ruins Saturn > Rusty Ruins Genesis.
thats a hard choice for me
Oooh that’s tricky….
The genesis one sounds more upbeat and fitting with the series, especially the original genesis/mega drive games, while this one, while still upbeat with its drumming, is a lot more atmospheric and peaceful, similar to what Sonic Adventure would later do with Mystic Ruins and Sonic Lost World with Tropical Coast Zone 3 now that I think about it
@@albertoandroidain for sure. Excellent point
@@albertoandroidain Genesis one sucks to this majestic divinity.
Bruh this just makes me wanna glide through the skies endlessly
Unrelated to the song but is it true that the goofy front-facing Sonic render on some 3D Blast box art is actually a photo-manipulated clay model? I remember hearing that somewhere.
This reminds me of blocksworld music so calming and upbeat
Sounds like an barber beats music, good to sample
Reminds me of DKC. Probably uses the same synth or something

I'm getting ads every 4 minutes now on this didnt used to be like that tf
That's pretty messed up that they're forcing ads on my video when I don't see any revenue whatsoever for this. Have you considered using an adblocker browser extension? They seem to work best on Firefox in my experiences (I use AdBlockPlus, which is free)
I was on a highway listening to this song when i got hit with ads which sadly made me skip the song ill see if there is any adblockers thst work with mobile.@@LogicandTrickster
Always a forgotten gem or two in this old series that is remembered in the wake of bad modern sonic games... (Frontiers, Mania, and Mania excluded, as they've been par excellent... maybe... signs of a good future on the horizon? or bad excuse to use Sonic CD time jokes? You decide)

So I'm not really a fan of stuff like this. This could have been Sonic 3D Blast 2 with its own levels and all of its own unique stuff. With 3D Graphics keep that in mind. To me it's a waste of music and this stuff sounds really good.
One of the main reasons why I hate the US Sonic CD soundtrack.
That is....an unbelievably petty reason to dislike something.
@@toamatoro570 I mean don't get me wrong this is probably one of the best songs that say I've ever produced, but I feel like it would be a lot more cooler if it was its own original level.
@@Jerricoking You know the Saturn and Genesis versions of 3d Blast were released on the same day, right? It was a cross/gen release, not an attempt at a rehash. Even if it was, your logic of all soundtracks requiring their own game in order to exist and that a single game is not morally allowed to have two different ones is absolutely ludicrous. Game development is a costly and time consuming process, and development of a soundtrack does not immediately warrant a second game's creation just for it.
Wow, you "hate the US Sonic CD soundtrack"? What a unique, refreshing take that no one on the internet has ever heard.........Get over it. You have two soundtracks to choose from and have been able to since 2011. 11 years now. For the record Sonic CD was 18 years old when it received the enhanced port with both soundtracks, so you've been able to choose your favorite for what will be coming up on nearly half the game's lifespan in a few years.
@@toamatoro570 yeah, I'm fully aware of all of this :/
I was just saying my own personal opinion that I kind of don't really like any of that. I just... personally prefer a level to have its own identity.
I hate the USA tracks because they don't hold up to to the Japanese tracks. Even history shows. I just don't like them because they could have been their own level. I don't think the soundtrack themselves are like the worst thing on planet earth. They're okay on their own, I just don't like it.
@@Jerricoking "Even history shows" The fuck's that supposed to mean?
What I get from this is, since you prefer one soundtrack over the other, the one you don't like shouldn't exist and was a waste of talent, despite the fact that you've had the freedom to pick your favorite for over a decade and leave enjoyers of the other soundtrack (or both, in my case) alone to enjoy what they enjoy. Your ongoing flawed logic of "if a game gets an alternate soundtrack and said soundtrack is not accompanied by its own new game, then the aforementioned compositions were a waste of talent" is honestly shameful and I feel like if the original composers saw that comment you'd owe them an apology.
