I’m really glad Speed Simulator introduced me to this soundtrack. It tells me the people working on the game, the ones who actually crafted it and not the ones who enforced the whole gacha p2w style on the game, actually really care about Sonic, enough so that they pulled from a near forgotten OST from the franchises 30+ years
I’m sure the people behind SpeedSim really cared about this project, I’m so glad they incorporated 3d Blast’s ost in places like GreenHill and HillTop. But the higher-ups at Gamefam have lost my trust..
The Genesis version sounds more like you are on a mission again a nefarious force, while this version sounds more like exploring without aim in a forgotten land. Both are excellent interpretations of the level though, I love them.

I love these tracks. So well done. I like to think of this one as a Spring Version of the Act 1 track. I think of the Act 1 as more of a Fall/Winter vibe. Both are beautiful.
Words cannot desribe the feelings i get from this song. When i listen to this, i go back to my early internet days when i used to watch UA-cam tutorials with people using music similar to this. Music that made you feel like you were in a futuristic new age, on the edge of reality watching time flow on by. Floating in a void that feels so empty yet so full of wonder. Im instantly taken back to those time where i used to play older PC games and got to live the experience of playing games like various valve games, mods, doom and other games of the like which changed peoples lives. It took me a little longer to get onto some of those things, but i emphasize with the previous generation greatly. This is not a Sonic song. Maybe Act 1 is, but this one? This carries spiritual significance to me. Of course i never played this version of the game but i have heard it in Sonic fangames like Sonic Battle R and Super Cream 64, but even then i can still feel the soul that surrounds this particular song. Another way to describe this is like im being flown back into the past to the 90s, a decade I've always had so many questions and thoughts about that it seems like a distant memory. Even if i wasnt even alive at all during it. Songs like this sound like music made around that time. Yknow, in one way, it kinda has a similar tone to Trance 009 Sound System Dreamscape. And even stranger is that it also sound simialr to Through the Trees from Shantae Risky's Revenge. Both songs are definitely having a different vibe, as Trance definitely has a more upbeat tone, and Through the Trees has a very wondery tone, but the point still stands. Maybe theres a reason for all this?
I grew up with the PC version of this game. It didn’t have the fancy special stages the Saturn had, but the music was still pretty incredible. I remember being really young when I first played this, getting to this stage, I was completely awestruck by the music being played on this act. It definitely influenced me in the type of music I wound up liking as I grew up. This game made such an amazing memory for me that I still keep the original PC disc among my game collection.
There is a Fort Minor track called "Right Now" that has a beat that is similar to this one. Always makes me think of that song, and vice versa. Check it out!
Back 10 years ago I would listen to this and Act 1 during rainy days and suffering through a one sided love. It was an ethereal experience. Good times.

It is weird how it’s like that. The Sega Genesis version of Volcano Valley’s music is flipped in the sound test (act 2’s music is in place of act 1 and vice versa) but in the actual game, it’s played in the correct order.
Sonic adventure remixed and re-used green grove zone act 1 and puppet panic zone act 1 but i don't what was they think of when they didn't bring this masterpiece
Those were the Mega Drive/Genesis versions. That version of Sonic 3D and Adventure were both composed by Jun Senoue, the Saturn version was by Richard Jacques.

For some reason, this one's before act 1 in the disc.
Which might mean that this was Act 1's theme and the final Act 1 was Act 2's theme.
