Fantastic presentation, That British Homestead! Looks and sounds amazing! Excellent sharing. Continued success. God bless.
Thank you kindly! You are very sweet
Good that you are using everything that you have grown. Such a nutritional meal
Yes, thank you
Wow.. what a fabulous job, using all of your produce as well as making the sourdough to accompany it.
Well done Nik. New kitchen looks such a dreamy space to bake in 😊❤
Yes it's nice just picking the tiles now! I feel so tired with choosing! I'm it the sort of person that likes to make so many choices... hence why I'm just repeating the some colours and patterns
I love beetroot, especially roasted or in a soup. My grandfather was Russian and as a small child, we lived in a multi general home. I'll have borscht any day. Not that cold, thin, strained sickly stuff from a fancy restaurant but a warm bowl, loaded with veggies and bread for dunking.
I grow our potatoes all year round. I'm in a frost free coastal region so I can't pick them around frost time. I'll just pick them all year but stagger the plantings.
That's be lovely. I think that potatoes taste so good when home grown!!! Also love beetroot and borscht, just pressure canned some!
Wow look at your soup harvest ❤
I was rather proud of it
@ you should be 🥰
Bread looked great Nik ❤ lovely start to finish video of a complete meal x
Thanks I was so nervous I know I have so many amazing break makers watching. You know some peopel even make their sourdough look like Christmas trees
🤭🤭 you have a teddy bear 🧸 on your back 😂 oh wait no it’s Andrew ❤. Fab to harvest and make a delicious 🤤 family meal. Have a super weekend and week Nic, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
Oh yes!thanks so much and isn't he cute
Love the colours of your harvest ! ❤
Me too!!
@ colourful 🥰
fantastic harvest
Thanks so much! I can't wait to see how much I get next year
beautiful sour dough bread
Thank you 😊 we have been working on it for a few years!
Great to see what you make from produce from your allotment
Yes we eat most meals the veg is all form the allotment! Really helps with the food bill
Lovely crisp bright day
It really was! Lovely weather this time of year
Wooo amazing 🎉
Thanks 🤗
Such a great harvest and soup with a crusty bread.......the best!!!!
Thanks so much and it was amazing
Always sooo good woow❤
Thanks
So much still to harvest! Don't know where those carrots came from tho ... 😂 Andy was very entertaining in that video. Jerusalem artichokes is such an easy and prolofic crop. I tend to soak overnight before cooking to reduce the side effects!
So I have heard... Andy loved them and was trumping till kingdom come!
So nutritious ❤
Yes! We try
Great job 👏 Well done 👩🌾 I left the beetroot in the garden hoping to harvest them very soon and suddenly it’s all covered with snow ❄️. I hope they survived 🤞
I hope so too! It's made most of the UK is covered in snow and we are still very warm for this time of year. Just walking about in a t shirt today!
I would love to see you chicken broth and the branston Nik. Great video thanks
Coming soon! I have to do a big canning day soon my freezers are so fall! I was just talking about buying another but no we should can it all! I want to make bbq sauce! When its nice and rainy
@@ThatBritishHomestead That sounds fantastic Nik, I do love your canning info. I will look forward to it, take care for now Nik and family
Thanks so much for your kind words
Talking about brussel sprouts, have you tried them raw in a slaw. I shred brussel sprouts and grate carrots, and top with a homemade honey mustard dressing.
Jasmine love Brussels and eats them raw and plain! I love honey mustard dressing just made some last night but I'll have to try this recipe! I've just had a tooth removed to in a week or two I'll try it lol
Looks yummy Nik! Just what you need in weather like this. I made flapjacks yesterday morning and we had homemade chicken noodle soup for lunch. Love the new kitchen. Are you enjoying it? Is there much left to do in there or is it finished now? Do you need sourdough starter to be warm room temp or can it ferment if it is normal room temp?
Wow that's sounds amazing I had to stop making the flapjacks as they are too good!! lol I'm going to make chicken noodle soup this week. You do need a starter but you can make it yourself. Does take a week but then it's yours forever. We are almost there picking tiles this week! Flooring done and then you just have the ending little bits. Have to render the outside too. Just a money pit really! I do love the extension! Don't know if the kitchen is too white? I think it looks too white so we are going for a bold tile
@@ThatBritishHomestead I don't make them that often and it's only really our child that has the squares after school.
Just made kale ribbon pasta tonight with meatball, veg and pasta sauce and a chocolate fudge cake as been in a baking mood lately.
Might give the sourdough starter a go. I just need to remember to feed it.
We have white walls/ cupboards and the doors are like wood and the worktop and appliances are grey/silver. Breakfast bar is real wood. Once you get things in, it will add colour, etc. I really want to re do our titles as i gave birth 4 days later, after finishing installing the kitchen (with hubby's help) and finished the titling and grouting myself. They are just white squares with black grout but i like the subway tiles now and want to do a fancy border tile trim.
It will get there i am sure. These things always take time to finish off. Yes refurbishing does cost a bit but cheaper if you can do a lot of it yourself.
i put off harvesting my potatoes and now the ground is frozen 😢
Wow! Mad most of the uk have snow but we were in the London bubble and it's so warm! Mad isn't it
@ lucky you Kent always freezes 😢
Happens to the best of us!!!! #christmas #allotmentlife #gardening
