First song I learned on the pipes a long time ago. First time I've run into the words. Thanks so much. You have a great voice. I really enjoy listening to your music. Cheers.
I love that Song I play Mandolin myself and enjoy that song it reminds me of a LDS Hymn "Praise to the Man" and was played at Gordon B. Hinckley's funeral on the Bagpipes Wonderful job with the Mandolin and Harmonica thanks for sharing your talents with everyone Jesse
Like some of the others have commented, I also found this video while searching out your previous version of this tune. It has been ages since I last watched your videos. It seems I have quite a bit of catching up to do. Thanks for sharing your talent with us all.
Are you of Scottish heritage? Amazing, bro, this is probably one of the best covers I've heard of this song! Scotland's music is so similar to Irish music! :)
This is actually considered to be our second national anthem after 'Flower of Scotland' none the less, excellent version 👏 From a third Scotsman, with an Irish heritage... Living In stirling, the most historic city in scotland 👍
+Sol Mamita It's very nice that people still thanks. A lot of videos disabled the comments section because, you know, assholes are everywhere. So thank you for supporting amazing people like him : )
I agree. That was the first version of the song I'd ever heard with lyrics. Nothing against the mandolin really but the guitar just had such a rich sound to it.
I was looking for a good version that I could adapt to 5-string banjo for my own enjoyment. You are all that and more. I didn't even know the tune had lyrics until a few years ago. Thank you! I'm gonna hie on over to your website. Whoa, just when I thought it couldn't get any better; "Reilly's Daughter". You're fantastic!
Hi Jesse, congratulations, this is and excellent version! Can I ask u where i can get ur original version of this song? the one u played with the guitar? thx and continue singing u are great!
Have just recently discovered you on UA-cam, Jesse. Since then, I have purchased "The Parting Glass" on iTunes. Is that your only CD to date? I would love to see this appear on a CD, and I would be interested to hear your rendition of "Eileen Og", if you're interested in trying. Make it known if you put another CD out, I'll be buying it.
This is the first time I've heard the lyrics to this song. Really enjoyed it. By the way, just how many instruments can you play? I've seen you play the guitar, mandelon, harmonica, and the hand drum. Keep playing and singing cause you are singing from the heart.
Karen Ronan That's because this song was also sang by the Yanks, I think, but not sure. Remember that many of the American immigrants are originally English, Scottish and Irish. In addition, a new version of the song was reaby an American band in the 50's, called "My Bonnie Lassie". :)
Great song, I have a question..you used to have a video with a guitar what happened to that?i really wanted to see it again and thank you again for this amazing song
Jesse you are the master of Anthem's official or unofficial. My favorites. Northwest Passage, O Canada and Scotland the Brave. Have you done the Star Spangled Banner? I'm off to look for it.
@@BardofCornwall So sorry to hear that, I just remember seeing it back in those days and someone even made a tribute to you playing the song. Still I am happy hear it in any way from you, it's just your voice to it fits better than any so far I've heard.
it's a bit of a stretch saying it's the unofficial Scottish anthem, I think most folk are fairly fed up of hearing it on the bagpipes tbh. it is on the shortlist for Scottish anthem though, and imho these lyrics by Cliff Hanley are great. They're all very positive and not controversial or jingoistic at all, which is what you need for a national anthem.
+Sol Mamita - glad to hear it. Actually I'm not speaking for myself. I can take or leave the bagpipes version, though an actual pipe band doing it is very impressive I must admit, though I love it as a song too. however as I say, virtually every Scot I meet says they're sick of hearing it, which is a bit of a shame. It might be because I live in Edinburgh. here we can't help but get fed up of the sound of the pipes, as well as the handful of tunes that get blasted out on them ad nauseum on the High Street, Princes St and The Mound. anyway, thanks for the comment, I enjoyed listening to this version again as a result of your notification! Happy New year to you, as well, while I remember.
+Sol Mamita PS, if yr interested here is a rather scratchy version my dad and I did, also with the Cliff Hanley lyrics, way back in the day. my dad's sadly no longer with us, but we used to really enjoy doing this song together. calumsmusic.com/track/scotland-the-brave
Well thank you, I love your version - soulful, a ballad. I find it fascinating how a piece of music, any piece, can lend itself to such different moods in the hands of talented musicians. In its pipe band rousing march-tempo version it has also been adopted by the British Columbia Dragoons of Her Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces...I'm Canadian so I guess the "patriotic" stirring in me is, shall we say, almost inevitable when I hear it. Thanks again.
+Jesse Ferguson Thanx. love your videos. My son is learning the song on the guitar and we are hopping to have it learned by mid-MAY for when we go to Scottish festival.
The chords and lyrics are in the video description for all of my videos. Thanks for stopping by!
Was watching this in 2014. Back here again in 2024!
Thanks for sticking with me 😊
Back again ... I can't get enough of this song. ❤️
You sing it better than most folk here in Scotland!
Alba gu bràth.
So very well done. Makes me happy.

Excellent....I liked the clicky thing in this one. I think it works well because all the other instruments are in the higher frequency range.
Thanks, sir ; I just rocked another grand daughter to sleep by your tunes.
I didn't expect such a wonderful voice. Great job! Keep up the good work.
Instant like for the shirt alone
BEAUTIFUL This fills my heart with joy ❤ Thank you Jesse!!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
@@BardofCornwall ♥♥♥
Wow! I'm not sure what I'm impressed with the most, your singing or playing mandolin and harmonica at the same time. It was all excellent!
very Cool
Wow! Just wow.
usually flower of Scotland is considered our unofficial national anthem but this is great too
Are you of Scottish heritage? Amazing, bro, this is probably one of the best covers I've heard of this song! Scotland's music is so similar to Irish music! :)
Thanks, Arnold. Yes, I'm of mixed Scottish and French heritage.
nicely put together.Singing and mandolin work. Are you from the cornish area.
This is superb, really excellent, considering you are self-taught. Well done my friend! - Very nice vocals as well!
I agree. Repost the original. both are excellent and should be up here. I liked the harmonica bit. I'm not normally a fan of the harmonica but...
I would be interested in obtaining a hard copy of your CD, in the interests of sharing your music with some others who I feel would enjoy it.
Wicked bro! Perfect voice mate
You have a captivating voice. Looking forward to hearing you at the Las Vegas event in November.
Well done, love that song! And the Dropkick Murphys are awesome!
Excellent! You have a great voice.
Brilliant
Incredible!!!
Thanks, and I'm from Cornwall, Canada.
That's where you get your nickname "The Bard of Cornwall!"
ClanAnderson weighs in--BRILLIANT!
Dang, I already liked it! I want to like it again!

Please repost the original version you did of this song with guitar. It was so genuine and real.

Your voice is so good, I love your videos. Also I'm really into Dropkick Murphy's so that's cool too.
Well, as a TF2 player always comes into my mind the moment when I charge into a bunch of enemies with a demoman and his fellow sticky launcher...
Hi Jesse, congratulations, this is and excellent version! Can I ask u where i can get ur original version of this song? the one u played with the guitar? thx and continue singing u are great!
Awesome, now you need to do the Corries' comedic version!
You do Scottish folk justice my friend. My family originated in Scotland. I wish I could’ve been raised there. Thanks for an amazing song
When I get a mandolin, I want to learn this. :)
Go buddy!
Awesome job! I didn't realize that it wasn't the official anthem. Good to know!
Wow
Krasse stimme, sehr nice!!

A very stirring song. Your version is wonderful. It strangely reminds me of American civil war music.

You should do a version of caledonia!! Great voice man
machts gut!
Hi Jesse - can you please repost your previous guitar version of Scotland the brave?
I think it's quite the feat, singing, mandolin and harmonica haha
This is the national anthem. Unfortunately. Flower of Scotland grew on the rugby field of murrayfield. But it's never been the official anthem
Jesse you are the master of Anthem's official or unofficial. My favorites. Northwest Passage, O Canada and Scotland the Brave. Have you done the Star Spangled Banner? I'm off to look for it.
Hi TristanandIsolt, I haven't done that one yet, but it's on my radar.
@@BardofCornwall I'm an American and I don't think it's a great song, but you could probably make it sound good.
I remember having this song on guitar, can you upload it or make a new one with that? Love your voice and your talent!

Anyone know where i can learn the intro picking to this?
