      It’s probably one of my biggest faults, I have always just been good at doin anything with my hands and I have learned new things easily and I also love to help others learn these things that I can do and I want to either get them to my level or just do it for them and in turn it’s become a problem because I never can just do things for myself then cause everyone knows I’ll just help. Gift and a curse

    Hey, you can tighten preload by removing the little clutch cable holder, sticking a screw driver in that hole (if you shine a light in there, you’ll be able to see the grooves in that preload tightener spring bolt thing) then, you’ve got to put the screw driver in the groove and roll the bike backwards until you’re happy with the spring tension

    • @JMB676
      @JMB676  7 місяців тому

      Yes I have seen that and tried it before but I just don’t agree with doing it that way. I prefer to pull the clutch out. Idk maybe I have taken them apart so much that it seems easier to just take it out and do like that then the way your describing. Besides I also like to put some red thread lock on that preload basket nut cause I have had it back off a bunch of times before after the first startup.

    Respectfully the clutch pads are meant to be free-floating and your clutch will work a lot better with the pads not jammed in there.

      Yup, maybe you didn’t hear me say that but towards the end of that section I referenced it. I mean to be honest it’s not a “how to” video so I didn’t break it down like that and show it all. Either way it’s not a high power build nor going to a guy that understands any of this stuff and was greased up and made horrible about a week after he got it back. So it probably wouldn’t matter anyway but I still do it rightish for him so it has good feel and grip, but I just didn’t show all the fitting in the cage. I only showed fitting to shape by hitting them in. But I take each one out and use sand paper on each one a bit so it’s a lil loser so the “float” more. It’s in no way perfect please don’t think I’m saying that but it’s better then just the average guy sticking them in without any fitment adjustments. Thanks for watching too, I assume it’s more for fun and laughs then tryin to see how to do something considering I know you know how to build these things and all. I haven’t said it in a while but I try to let everyone know that I’m an idiot and to do what I do at your own risk, lol.

      @@JMB676 Bro you're totally cool 😎. Yeah it sucks putting in a bunch of hard work on a bike to somebody who doesn't really care, then when they finally the mess it up it's your responsibility to fix it again. I feel you bro, I repair or build other people's bikes differently than I do mine😉.

      @@JamesPiccone yeah for real it’s stinks cause I honestly really want a week or two to just catch up on my personal builds and ideas. Those are all 26inch wheel set and 44t sprockets, this is a much larger motor and 29” wheels and a 38t sprocket. So believe if you want but I have no reason to lie. So why did you pull the clutch apart again?

    • @JMB676
      @JMB676  Рік тому

      Well when I built the motor in the last video I never went through the clutch and inspected it, I only removed it so I go split the case. Unfortunately it was all gunked up and needed to be cleaned and freshened up. So that’s y I took it about this time, to just put new pucks in and clean it and to set the preload on the main spring.

    • @JMB676
      @JMB676  Рік тому

      Yes, I have both but is it for fun or for a daily rider? How much do you weigh and what sprocket are you goin to be using? These things can have an effect on what I would port the motor to but if your only tryin to make the most and don’t care about using it tomorrow reliably then ok too and I got numbers for that too lol. If you want hit me up on messenger the link is in the description for our Facebook group just go there and find me and I can send you pics of whatever numbers you need I have them all written down

    • @michaelbrinks8089

      @@JMB676 for the 49mm I was just looking for some numbers that'd give me some more top speed without taking a bunch of bottom end away & still be 1/2 way reliable..... I took off the iron casting overhang on the transfer ports but didn't raise them, I widened them & beveled/rounded the edges for smoother flow. Took 1mm off the exhaust roof, rounded edges & took 1mm off bottom intake, for now.

    • @JMB676
      @JMB676  Рік тому

      @@michaelbrinks8089 170-174 exhaust duration 128 transfers duration and 140-144 intake duration with a 23-27 blowdown and squish around .65-.80 hope this helps but these are just good numbers I have run b for. But if you can’t open the transfers cause you don’t have the right tooling then just try to open them and keep the steel sleeve level with aluminum port but no matter what try to make sure that your intake is at least 12 degrees more duration so that means 6 more on open n 6 more on close. Also if you aren’t taking the transfers n intake to my suggested durations cause you can’t let m know what you can get them to and I’ll let you know where to take the exhaust. One number will effect the others in different ways just so you know. Also I tent to keep my ports more peaky and narrow then I do flat on top and wide

    • @JMB676
      @JMB676  Рік тому

      Also if you want or need more transfer duration you can always ramp the sides of the piston to get a lil more duration but remember to much duration and you loose compression cause of lose pump and rule of thumb to high and your all top end rpm and a dog of the line.

      @@JMB676 Thank you👍 I got em wrote down. Time to spend/waste some more $ & order a degree wheel........Off subject, I haven't looked in a while but seen old videos of some nice 125cc pitbike engine motorized bicycles that haul ass but keep the pedals & appearance of a motorized bicycle. I'm thinking some strong Gemini wheels, steel 26in frame & pitbike 125cc(has gearbox) would make a fast, more reliable motorized bike. That could cruise all day at 55mph if the frame & wheels were strong enough. Use extra quiet exhaust on engine, to avoid unwanted attention, add some 49cc engine labels, maybe something to partially cover/hide the engine. Remove any 125cc labels.....I mean thinking 🤔 about it, a phantom 85 is over $325-ish, a saw build is lots of work, plus u need, better pipe$, then super clutch$ if you want more power & clutch still won't last. No matter what, the engine will never last as long as pitbike engine. I bet if I looked I could find a decent low mileage used pitbike 125cc engine for $125. A new one is $225-$250, still cheaper than a phantom 85 but has a real clutch, regular built in generator for lights, kick start, more power,WAY more reliable. I figure if I could weld together a reinforced full suspension motorized bicycle frame. It'd make way more sense to use a 125 pitbike engine. The Gemini wheels are like $350? and $125 used pit bike engine= pretty much all the parts I need...For $475 that'll blow a $325 phantom 85 away in terms of power, reliability, less maintenance,can climb any steep hills,etc...The pitbike engines are like 45 lbs so not too crazy heavy. But a 250 lb rider for sure needs a reinforced bike & wheels if they wanna cruise at 55.... Wish I could easily find some moped type/grade tires that fit Gemini wheels. In the long run, I think a 125cc pit bike motorized bicycle daily driver build would be cheaper than constantly buying 2 stoke engines & parts. I dunno why I was thinking about using a $325 phantom & $150-ish jackshaft kit before. That's $475 in already before buying the Gemini wheels & still slower, less reliable than 125 pitbike. I thought about 3hp or 212 predator kit but it's just extra weight & girth of 4 stroke with no gears.
