Just curous why the FO is not getting to fly the return leg to Addis. At my aitline we alternate legs between pilot flying and pilot monitoring
Dear, FO is not allowed to land in Addis due to elevation of the airport
That is usually the case in Ethiopian Airlines too. The Captain and the Co-pilot discuss which leg they will be flying and it will done to their agreement.
I think Bole is category C according to their SOPs
Something new to see with the actual communications with ATC and pilots actions. Watch a lot of airport live streamers, but they are only showing the outside (landings and takeoffs) with only the tower frequencies broadcast. Well put together Just Planes!

Is it allowed to have obscuring stuff on your windshield during a commercial flight?
It is a check list pilots have to use before and after takeoff and also prior to and after landing.
@@Eyob797 I was referring to the various cameras attached to the windshield.
@@filipvidinovski7960 My guess is windshields are way wider than they look, and a go pro set won't impact the ability of pilots flying the plane, but I'd like to hear what pilots say about it too

Wish they would hand fly a bit longer. On landing it was like 20 seconds and only 12 seconds on takeoff. Less than a minute of hand flying on 2 legs is hardly a way to keep up your chops.
Thats aviation today, the days of hand flying are mostly gone... but it allows the pilots to focus on other things so its good for safety.
@@justplanesI know the automatics are a big part but there’s been at least one recent accident where lack of hand flying skills was partly to blame. Also looking at a few other videos on the channel and 12 seconds from rotate to AP is shortest I’ve seen by a big margin. Hand flying skills are still important regardless of how much automation is available.
Hand flyng is usually recommended of airports that are not busy. For an airport like DXB, it's recommended to engage AP immediately after take off for workload management.
Ethiopian pilots are well trained on hand flying as well, in todays aviation pilots are instructed to engage autopilot once they reach 1,000 feet above the ground and a thousand feet before landing.
