- Thank you to Garmin, Neal Aviation, and ArtCraft for sponsoring this video!
After five days and almost 1700 nautical miles of flying, it's finally time to fly to Oshkosh! In today's video, I fly my Cessna 140A into KOSH (Oshkosh, Wisconsin) for EAA AirVenture 2023. In order to fly into EAA AirVenture, pilots have to follow a specific set of directions called the Fisk Arrival. The Fisk Arrival utilizes visual landmarks, such as lakes and railroad tracks, to guide thousands of pilots and airplanes into Wittman Regional Airport in one long line. I've flown this arrival in my Bonanza twice, but never in my Cessna 140A, and never by myself - until now!
I will be at EAA AirVenture 2024 with both airplanes at the Garmin Booth again this year! Follow my Instagram @bayflight for live updates on my flight to Oshkosh starting TODAY, Thursday July 18th! Here's where you can find me this year at the show:
Monday, July 22, 10:30 AM to 12 PM CT: Bose
Wednesday, July 24, 10:30 AM to 12 PM CT: Garmin
Friday, July 26, 10 AM to 11 AM CT: Textron / Hangar 22
This was such a fun video to edit and I hope you enjoy!

Love the little flight tracker overlay! Keep up the great work.
I'd like to second this!
@@martensjdAnd third it! Very helpful!
I also thought it was a really unique touch.
Same here @patdry I mentioned that to her last year when she started this series of how nice it would be to actually see the chart of her flight,,,, maybe she does read the comments.
curious what software used for the track overlay?
The dance those controllers do still amazes me. They really are the best.
I noticed that too. There's a lot to keep track of!
It an algorithm that been perfected over the years...since the Berlin Airlift in the 1940's.
@@edgewood99 But still...
Yeah but still there are crashes every single year. It's not really worth risk flying in there. Better to land on an airfield close by
They are quick and good
For a vintage aircraft, that 140 is stunning. It purrs like a kitten and the upgraded avionics make it perfect.
Definitely belongs right in front of a high-profile display :)
as a former Air Force UPT Instructor and RSU Controller, I'm pretty impressed with your airmanship going into Oshkosh. Great job.
I am not a pilot but a huge aviation person, there is nothing like seeing you fly right over where I grew up. On the south side of Green Lake is where I was born and raised. To see that camera angle of you flying right over the bridge and the county park was incredible. Loved it!
@@JoeKrueger-q4m oh man. I know every street on the west side of brisbane but it w so mind blowing when I started flying overhead. The actual lie of the land was so different to my mental map, plus how quickly you are past it all.
Love the flight overlay on the video. That ATC radio traffic is chaotic, glad they're the best!
Having been one of the controllers working OSH (2000-2004) it is the biggest event that I miss since retiring. Thank you for sharing your arrival experience, and I hope you have fun.
Welcome back, Stevie. We all missed you.
Excellent piloting. Excellent: 1. patience, 2. Focus, 3. concentration, 4. Scanning (outside) , 5. position awareness and so much more. You flew aircraft and ignored your yootoob audience! Well done! Great pilot and great video.
It's brave to do it solo 😂 I did that in 2022, it went ok, but it was pretty stressful managing all the traffic alone, so I decided not to again... but then I had my worst ever experience in 2023 with a pilot buddy, so who knows. 🤷♂
Here's hoping 2024 goes better - for some personal reasons I'm limited to planning to fly the arrival on Sunday 😬
I've posted this before on other Oshkosh vids but people seem, to enjoy it, so here we go again. My old neighbor Ken was in B17s during WW2. After the war he became a private pilot and flew into his 80s. He said his most stressful experiences in an aircraft were flying in to Oshkosh. But he kept doing year after year!
Hope to see you again this year Steve.
@@jraybyeno gain without some pain
My son + I are attending this year. This helped us better understand how the busy air space is controlled. Respect to this beautiful young pilot.
I like this young lady's self confidence yet she doesn't make assumptions.
She xhecks everything leaving nothing to chance.
I really like this little plane she is flying.
If I wasn't 73 years old I would introduce myself like any young guy would do.
Well done. young lady.
Not a pilot, but I very much like your plane and the simplicity of your panel. Great "on air" personality. Over all excellent!
I love the idea of including a map overlay so we can follow along what a fantastic idea.
Your attention to detail, check lists and all show that you are a very competent flyer with whom anyone with any knowledge of aviation, me included, would feel quite safe riding along with. Makes your videos even more enjoyable. Thanks for taking me along. Absolutely love what you did to both those planes. Wish I could be at Oshkosh to say hello. and see it all in person.
I particularly like that you left the hold in your video, thanks a ton for the video!
The lady in the tower at Oshkosh is outstanding navigating the traffic!
Like a Number 27 bus! We see nothing for ages, then two come along. one after the other.
Ikr it's been a year
Wow, the hold pattern, and the how the controllers handle this is amazing. My last trip to Oshkosh was way back in 1981 and it hasn't changed much...
as one of the lifetime residents of Oshkosh:
Thank you for coming to EAA
I hope you had a wonderful time and explored the town.
We appreciate all the tourism that EAA brings to us.
All that air traffic chatter near Oshkosh would blow me away, railway tracks, coloured dots, land on the numbers, runway left, right, grass 🤯yeah stressful to the max
You've been quiet. Good to see you back in the air. Safe flying!
This is last years Oshkosh
Stevie, you’re never alone as your subscribers are always with you 😊
That approach is wild. I knew Oshkosh was very busy, but the amount of traffic on a 'non busy' day is amazing. And the high traffic level management with one way comms was fascinating. (not counting wiggles as conventional 'comms' 🙂) Thanks for sharing.
bold move flying into Oshkosh alone. You did good. must know the bird pretty good. Didn't see a check list.
You earned a sub, young lady...!!
Nicely done...!!
I'm not sure if you were here (I live in Oshkosh) this year, but nevetheless, welcome to Oshkosh... we're so happy to have you...!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY the longest trip to Oshkosh is done.....just in time to start it allllll over again
the lil map overlay was awesome. Always hoping for more uploads later this year =]
these excellent controllers must be absolutely exhausted at their shift change....thank you all for your awesome expertise to keep good pilots safe.
Stevie! I just watched a youtube from AOPA on FLOW - a method to do checklist without looking down so much. I reminded me about how you were doing your checklists in the Baron! I was immediately impressed with your checklist recitation and now know where AOPA got FLOW from. They got it from you Stevie! Thanks. Happy flying.
Well prepared, good discipline. She keeps it simple. Nice Cessna 140 in fantastic shape.
2 videos in 5 days? Stevie is back
We are so back 😎
@@bayflight I hope those emoji sunglasses are aviators
I’m leaving to Oshkosh eaa airshow tomorrow morning in our Stinson 108-3! Hoping to meet Stevie 😊
Leaving from north east Texas!!!
Do we know that she is there? Considering this is last years Oshkosh.
@@absolutjackal I’m at Oshkosh and her plane is in front of the Garmin tent 😄
@@Piper-v7e well that’s great so she must have gone again. Maybe we’ll get that video in 2025.
Very impressed at your skills and patience. My blood pressure would be spiking!
Love the look of the aircraft. Beautiful interior. Great job flying in.
Such a clean classic looking 'ol tail dragger! Thanks for the smooth ride and I think I'm more excited for you than YOU are! Welcome to Wisconsin! ❤️
"It looks like a bird. It's definitely a bird." And he's outpacing us... Reminds me of a TV commercial we shot many years ago. Air to air - a Cessna twin and a 737.
Nailed it! You’re an amazing pilot, truly enjoyed the video 🙌
Great video of an awesome flight. What no one has mentioned is the distance in the 140, 1700nm - that is some amazing distance to fly at 100kts. Top job.
17 hours minimum ... actually a bit more as it's slower at times. :)
Stevie is such an aviation sweetheart
Incredible flight to Oshkosh. Your Cessna 140A is a piece of art, an amazing combination of modernity and style. Have fun.
I love it all! I could "fly with you" all day long in your spunky 140. It's perfect in every way.
It's cool seeing someone basically the correct size for that aircraft. Makes me glad but also a little wistful to think about experiences I can't have as a big boofy bloke. It is cool being able to reach high things and open tight jars.
those circular screens to preserve the original style are perfect, superb avionic upgrade
Flown from Camarillo to Oshkosh twice. Best adventure ever. Tried to hit as many small towns in each state hitting each capital too ! Take the northern route on the way back. Hit Rapid City and circle mountain Rushmore. Sturgis might be going in too ! Safe trip !
Congratulations Stevie! A place of honor well deserved. OshKosh is on my bucket list, especially since I work for the OshKosh company.
Those ATC's are more than earning their keep with all the incoming traffic. Wow!!!
Hi Stevie,
Congrats on your fine flight to Oshkosh.
I have been looking for your videos and haven't seen any..
Glad you are ok, and happy to see you flying. Great job flying...
Always enjoy watching your videos. Missed them for a while there. It is always a delight to see your planes, your professionalism, the landscapes. Great editing and the overlay was a nice touch. You and Garmin and everyone else involved in the layout of both the 140 and the v-tail are to be commended. They just look so great!
I did a lot of controlled AS practice at our local metro apt with a ANG F-16 fighter wing and the tower was never this busy - it';s a joy to listen to how good they are managing high stress loads~this is "pushing tin" for real
U have great guts Stevie..a true inspiration..................
Absolutely love the look of the cockpit with those modern gauges! Beautiful bird!
Good job on the approach. It's not easy!
Excellent work Stevie! You are indeed a naturally gifted pilot. I know a few who could not have coped with that approach. The 140 is such a graceful aircraft.
Well done! AirVenture 2024 was quite the show. One of the best in recent years.
Stevie, nice job and thanks for letting me ride along!
I've watched a few pilots fly into Oshkosh and the little map you put on the video was really cool. I helped me understand where planes hold.
Wow that was very impressive to watch you work your magic and deal with all the curveballs without batting an eye. You're extremely talented.
I would love to see a take off video from the ground! This is exciting to watch as you glide in the sky with your Cessna!
Thank you for taking us along. This was so much fun!
What a great honor to display your practical new and beautiful 140 at Garmin. Enjoy the week. Safe travels
This is actually helpful to understand. Most videos don't show the whole thing and include the animated entry procedures. Pretty cool video!
You were very calm during that hold. Fantastic job!
Good job!! Love it! "Eyes outside!"
Great job Hon! Those Controllers are pretty darn fine too! Regards from UK!
Always soooooo hectic arriving at Oshkosh! But you aviated, navigated and communicated great!
Love the grammatically correct parallel construction!
Fantastic job!! Masterful flying girl❣️
The sigh at the end when you're on the ground and risk level low - LOL The little airplane came out very nice.
but doesn’t it look like the stripe on the tail is off angle?
A beautiful plane... (like as his female pilot too) and a great job. Take good care of it, your 140 is a lil treasure. Thanks for showing your impressions and moments. Regards from the Baltic coast ...
That was a low key arrival to OSH. I`ve flown into it over a dozen times and it`s always exhilerating. Amazing event.
I am very impressed. You are a seasoned pilot when it comes to how you fly-. I do not fly-, but for 15 years I owned, built, set up and drove midgets and sprint cars. Those racing cars have the same build and maintenance standards as aircraft. but risks and consequences if not respected and fatalities are not unusual. Enjoy Oshkosh.

Thumbs up 👍 thanks for sharing!
Wow has it been a year 😂 still good work ✅
You ROCKED that arrival and nailed the landing! Great work.
The flight tracker overlay was brilliant. I loved it.
Very nicely done! I'm near your departure at KWHP with my 172 and wish I had the nerve to make that trip myself, which is unbelievable. The map overlay helped me follow along. Thanks for sharing your adventure! 😅
Look at you! Got a premiere spot at the Garmin tent! You've come a long way, Stevie.
Taxiing up to the Boeing Ramp on Papa 2 had to be a thrill. Great job as usual Stevie! Looking forward to seeing you at AirVenture next week.
What a pleasant surprise to fire up the computer and see Miss Stevie and "Lil Ugly" finishing their trip to Oshkosh! Wow! Been missing you and your adventures. Keep 'em coming. Many Blessings and fly safe.
I so enjoy watching you. Such a great pilot. Feel like I’m there with you. Wish that dream could come true.😊
I currently live a couple miles straight north of Wittman in Oshkosh but grew up on a farm about 1 1/2 miles from Fisk. It’s straight in front of your prop at the 17:14 mark.
Took a bike ride around the airport last night and although there wasn’t a lot of planes here yet, there was a lot of campers.
Great video Stevie!
Good morning from Minnesota!! Saw you and the planes at Oshkosh!! Really fantastic episode, and I loved the flight track graphics! Well done!
Excellent, and most interesting ! Safe flights
Stevie: Well done. I've heard about the intense arrival/departure procedures and been a bit intimidated by them. You did great. Thanks for this video.
Oh wow! I live about 15 miles west of that airport in baraboo WI. I’m impressed young lady!!! So much so I subscribed! 😀
Discovered your channel from my son. Love the aerial views. Welcome to Wisconsin. Have a great time at the event.
love your vids! thanks for taking us flying👍 so cool to se exactly what's involved.
Brings back great memories of making this approach many many times. Good job.
Thanks for sharing and great job! Next year overnight 50 nm away, arrivals start at 7am. Then you can relax and watch the circus from your lawn chair. Cheers!
"Giant Lizard!" hahahahaha............. That reptile was small!
About the size of a baby goanna ...
excellent job and video. This year was my first year going to OSH and I was blown away. I'll be hitting this next year fore sure.
Great video my friend. Love to watch you fly.
Eu vi esta máquina linda em Oshkosh. Parabéns pelos vídeos 🎉
Every year there is a group of planes that go over my house to Oshkosh. This year was the best with the low cloud cover felt like I could have reached up and touched a few of them was awesome. The fast WW2 planes where so loud and close was amazing.
The classic paint scheme and the clean panel make this plane an absolute beauty. You should be proud and I'm sure you'll get compliments-o-plenty in OshKosh.
Awesome, Stevie, it was worth the wait for these last two episodes!! I love watching the arrivals to AirVenture! I hope you're having a great show this year and can't wait to see the videos.😊
Fisk is a lot of work for single pilot ! In 2023 we got there just a hair early hoping to get in line in a timely fashion... ended up having to circle Green lake five or six times. It was about 45 minutes of circling. A few folks were calling low fuel and had to depart !
20:04 Love this! This view makes me so happy. Last year I spent a good chunk of a day watching all the showplanes taxi in and get towed to booths.
I"ll be there in two days! Whoo-hoo!
Whoa great job holding at rush! Great landing just before the white dot too. Great controller.
Enjoyable trip that just kept getting better the closer you got!! Can't beat OSHKOSH!!!👌
Enjoy Air Adventure this year. Won't be there, but please let Citation Max know Mr. Martini says hello. I met Max last year in Houston at Flight Sim Expo. He might remember me. Had a great time!!!
