Archie Bunker was on a journey that ended with him adopting a Jewish niece and he changed because he had the opportunity to interact with people who were different from him. All in the Family wasn’t glorifying or endorsing Archie’s opinions, it resonated with people because they had people in their lives who acted like Archie and it gave people the courage to talk about some of the most and social problems of the day. Thousands of discussions were sparked in families who would sit and watch the show every week. You cannot judge the show by today’s standards. That is just like taking a statement completely out of context which can change the meaning and intent. Marfied with Children was originally titled Not the Cosby Show or something like that because it was a direct fire on all the goody goody sitcoms up until that point. The Bundy’s were a cartoonish parody of real life. They were the first of their kind & definitely challenged the censors back in 89 when they debuted. Try some scenes from the comedy show, In Living Colour. Like Men on...... segments. In Living Colour ( late 80s early 90s) went beyond what Al Bundy did.
The reason Al Bundy and mean characters like that were able to get away with things like this is because they always got their come uppances. What they don't show in these clips is later when he would get his. Usually Marcy would bust him or Peg and the kids would ruin his fun or in one episode a coalition of the over weight women tied him up. His life was always bad and he never , ever won. Except when he scored 4 touchdowns n a single game in high school of course! Same with Louis De Palma on Taxi. That's what's missing in today's characters. Sheldon Cooper is terrible to his friends and gets away with it. He's a bully. Al was once sent to Hell but the devil sent him back because his suffering was worse in the real world, lol! And yet, this guy never cheated on his wife and never ran out on his kids. Who by the way were all terrible!
It wasn't just a show with outrageous jokes. That wouldn't last long. In thecsetup of the show Al was a high school football star and Peg was the popular girl. They were the top of the high school food chain. Then they learn that high school is not real life. They are not the popular, successful people in the real world. Thevother aspect is that as much as the family fights, they love each other and will fightvanyboutside attacks on any family member.
Back in the day, if we didn't like something, we just didn't watch/listen to it. Pretty simple. Hopefully soon we'll move past all this "feelings" bullshit.
These shows don't try and say everyone is like this, or that anyone should behave this way. The problem the woke crowd would have issues with this is that they think people should not be "allowed" to be like this. A lot of people believe there should be criminal charges for "misgendering". ( I misspelled this and the autocorrect did not have another replacement to offer because like the the new genders, it is totally made up).
The TV show that built the FOX network. The critics hated Married With Children . People loved it. All In The Family was making fun of Archie Bunker, and we all knew it.
You fellas do realize we are dealing with the same crap today as then? What made the time great was the fact that we had been allowed to laugh about it and make open fun of the stupid crazy of the times. We have far more messed up crud today than way back then and nobody is allowed to just Laugh about it.

Like Men on...... segments.
In Living Colour ( late 80s early 90s) went beyond what Al Bundy did.
So many funny memories 😄 ❤💯
Make NO MA'AM great again ! ✊🏼
Redd Foxx was one of the most popular Black comedians ever back in the day!! He was famous for many decades! His albums was good too!
"Al Bundy vs Marcy" and "Al Bundy Chicken Jokes" and "Al Bundy How Was Your Day" are good compilations to check out.
Love Al Bundy!
yet in all these scenes there wasn't a shred of misogyny, "fat shaming" maybe, but in his defense they were all sloppy
Every show you mentioned is still on the air and there doesn't seem to be a problem them.
Not a sitcom, but legendary. George Carlin.
Even better, Brad Stine
Brilliant commentator, using humor to expose all the stupidity in our society. You should listen to him talk about the Reagan administration…
I read somewhere that the original working title for Married With Children was originally called "Not The Cosby's".
Back in the day, if we didn't like something, we just didn't watch/listen to it. Pretty simple. Hopefully soon we'll move past all this "feelings" bullshit.
👏👏👏
Al Bundy 2024
Shows like that exist today. Just outside crazy US.
@@CGrant8411 you have a computer just like I do. Do a search for "calls to criminalize misgendering", It is not hard to find.
@@CGrant8411Wokies. Look up any man on the street videos on college campuses.
Most of the run was actually 1990s. It aired from 1987-1997.
The TV show that built the FOX network. The critics hated Married With Children . People loved it.
All In The Family was making fun of Archie Bunker, and we all knew it.
At 3:37 is why he keeps calling her a chicken LMAO
Ok so guys the reason he kept referring to Darci as a chicken was because of her chicken leggs
Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor, yes please. Damn.
You fellas do realize we are dealing with the same crap today as then? What made the time great was the fact that we had been allowed to laugh about it and make open fun of the stupid crazy of the times. We have far more messed up crud today than way back then and nobody is allowed to just Laugh about it.
Well I agree, but you nor I need anyone's permission to laugh about anything.
No, there are too many pansy asses who get offended about everything. I LOVED blond jokes, and I "was" a natural blond back in the day.
We just were not so sensitive like people are today..You can thank social media for that...
