Yes and the actress that played Marcy was one of the writers of the show and wrote all of the jokes directed at her as well as the jokes she fired back at Al
Yeah, same here. Off course back then there were also people feeling offended by this and I guess, just like nowadays, those are all frustrated people unhappy with themselves but to damn lazy to change if they're so unhappy. So just blame it on someone else. Didn't work back then, but nowadays the snowflakes dictate society. I have lost a lot of weight in the past, actually fitted the social accepted body shape, but man I was completely derailed mentally. I was so unhappy and so I learned that the rest of the world can go F it self when it comes to my weight or size. So what if might die a bit sooner, at least I have enjoyed my life and not wasted it to be what others want me to be. There is of course a difference between humor, sincere worries for a persons health and just be outright offensive. Although I think that if you're happy, you can't be offended by such shallow comments. Always reminds my of this great bumper sticker I one saw: "I'm fat, you're stupid. At least I can do something about being fat" 🙂 Man I wished they could bring back shows like this...

Of course, this was the show that launched the careers of Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate (who was not in the original pilot that was presented).
the other thing to add about the big women that appeared on the show, in the end they were queuing up begging to be a "victim" of Al's jokes, they loved it, and like you said, it got them on to tv where no other show would touch them, which is very sad in itself, why couldn't they be good at their job just because they're bigger than normal

Al Bundy is THE MAN, Nice reaction guys, reminded me of the good old days, when the world was NORMAL
Greetings from Bulgaria
I love this comedy. I'm overweight, and yes the jokes are funny. It's not personal, and if you don't like it, there's what? 100 other channels you can watch. Bring it back I say, because if no-one watches it, it will get cancelled anyway.
Id rush home from middle school to watch this
