What type of recognition do you think she deserves exactly? She had two hit songs and a decent album. I think she her recognition is a reflection of her music.
She's a sweet soul. I've known her since high school were we went to school together in Nashville and she graduated a year before me. Deana is not related to the June Carter/Cash family. Her daddy, Fred Carter was an American guitarist, singer and producer in his own right and was lifelong friends with some of County Music's greats. He sadly passed away in 2010.
She has family in Louisiana, too. She visits often to see her grandparents. Her cousin is married to my cousin. They are from a small town close to where Tim McGraw grew up.
Ugh....I remember Boones. $2 a bottle. Right next to the MadDog. Worst. Hangover. Ever. It was honestly enough to make me never drink wine again. I was a mess and there was no sneaking in past my folks that night. I was singing my bum off at 3 AM and tripping over my own feet.
I’m in Iowa and the Amish in the Amanda Colonies make a wonderful strawberry wine, lol. The dandelion wine tastes almost exactly like a Riesling. But I concur, unless you’re from the country, making your own…Boone’s Farm was it! 😂
Oh! Also, check out her other big hit "Did I shave my legs for this?" Lol Last year was the 25th anniversary for Strawberry Wine and she still looks beautiful today.
@@Stephanie-ik1vq My grandmother loved what she deemed "stupid songs." And she didn't mean that derogatory. "Did I shave my legs for this" and "She thinks my tractors sexy" topped her list of "Stupid songs." And so I always think of her when I hear those. Lol
@@denanebergall5514 Awww... what a great memory! I'm partial to the Deana Carter song because I can think of a couple of times in my life when I've said the exact same thing to myself. "Did I shave my legs for this?" 🙂
She’s terrific. Her name is pronounced “Dee-nah.” I think I’ve Loved Enough to Know, Count Me In, and That’s How You Know It’s Love, and We Danced Anyway are up there for me, thought Did I Shave My Legs For This was my fun intro to her.
I still remember when 30 was old…ugh! When this song came out- 30 WAS old to me. Now, I’m WAY past that. Also, she is Johnny Cash’s step daughter- she is June Carter Cash’s daughter. Strawberry wine is kinda like a cheap thing here- you get it when you are young cause it’s so cheap. 😊 Love this song!!❤️✌️
Strawberry wine was one of the first wines I tried when 19 or 20. I was a teenager in the 70s and this perfectly mirrors My 1st love when I was in high school. If you try strawberry wine I don't think you'll find it complex, but rather a sweet & simple wine. Which is why it was such a great visual of youth, innocence and 1st love.
Yeah, Lawd, I remember being in the back of a pickup, goin'-down the beltway, and we pulled-up beside another pickup, with a bunch of kids in the back. Both trucks drove real close, so we could pass bottles across to them! It was the seventies---we were fearless (or stupid)!!! LOL
I saw her in concert in the 90s (I’m well passed my 30s, too). She opened for a must hear artist called John Berry. Check out “Your Love Amazes Me” or “Kiss Me in the Car.” His Christmas album is fantastic.
Lovely reaction to one of my favorite songs, doesn't matter who you are or where you are from, this song can trigger memories and feelings from a specific moment in the past. Please check out Did I Shave My legs For This.
I was in charge of the music for the slideshow for my Nanna’s celebration of life and she loved this song. This was the first one I put in the playlist. I don’t think I still have that playlist, but I can’t remember I think I deleted it. I’ll double check though and if I still have it I will give you a link so you can check out the songs.
This video was probably uploaded in 2009 but the song was recorded in 1995 but the single released in 1996 and there was recently a 25 year anniversary version recorded in 2021 with Deana and others. I don’t know if they are still around, but Boone’s Farm made several very sweet, cheap wines popular among the young looking for a palatable introduction to wine. They definitely made strawberry wine. What I love about this song is the sweetness of it, just poignant memories of first love.
My first wine was Boone's Farm Tickle Pink in about '74. They quit making it and we had to drink the Strawberry flavor one! A very cheap, sweet wine that was great! Great reactions.
the album this is from was the first Country album I ever bought (along with Tim McGraw's Everywhere, do his title track someday please!). I absolutely love the entire album and honestly would recommend the entire album but obviously to limit it down to a couple I'd say check out #1: "We Danced Anyway", "How Do I Get There", "Count Me In", "I've Loved Enough To Know", and "Before We Ever Heard Goodbye". "Did I Shave My Legs For This" is a fun song and worth checking out but I'd check out one of the others first.
Here in the USA teens have been known to drink Strawberry wine, because it was either homemade or really cheap alcohol... not that it isn't good, but my friends & I did it 50 years ago. LOL Love your reactions so very much.

Boones Farm Strawberry wine ...LOL Right up there with Boones Farm apple wine and a few other flavors ...... Water, juice, and 7.5 percent alcohol added in.. A favorite back in the 60s and 70s when everyone ran around with a fake wineskin bladder !! It was fun though !!
I haven't heard this song in 20 years, it reminds me of a young woman. I was a city kid from North East Wisconsin, I meet a country woman that live 50 miles away. For a year she introduced me to country music. To this day if I listen to country I think of her.
Her father was Fred Carter Jr. who was a guitarist, singer, composer, and producer. He worked with some of the Big names in music and helped some get their first contracts.
This is one of those songs that I WISH I could go back and listen to for the first time... I was only 5 when this came out in 96. I'm pretty sure I heard it after it came out but your reaction to the first time she sang "love" in the chorus is my reaction every time I hear that word in this song.
Boone's Farm Strawberry Wine was huge in the late 60's and early 70's. This was the wine the songwriter was remembering. I think it was the first alcoholic beverage many girls tried. It was cheap. It wasn't very good. I'm from Tennessee and I know in most rural areas farmers make all kinds of homemade wine. In the southeast, scuppernong, peach, apple, strawberry, muscadine, elderberry, etc. are common. I'm sure every region of U.S. has unique wines depending on fruits that are common in their area. I've always wanted to try homemade strawberry wine. It just sounds like it would be...should be...good. :)
Strawberry Wine is delicious, but that's not what she means Sweety, she's talking about her first love. First experience, First everything, it's a metaphor, just to remember the taste of Strawberry Wine, everyone can relate at some point in their life, the lyrics tell the story...
Deana was noted for her being barefoot on stage at all her performances . Another Great choice to react too from Deana is “ I can’t believe I shaved my legs for this”. My guess is she wrote it after a very bad date… lol

@@amydawson8949 : I don't think so---I think her parents were the famous singer/guitar player, Fred Carter, Jr., and her mother's name was Anna, I think.
