The intelligence the dolphin expressed by remembering where he saw a swim fin and then taking time out of his day to bring it in order to communicate with a human is staggering! This truly a display of next level intelligence.

I had a memorable and beautiful encounter with a female dolphin over 20 yrs ago and drove the 5000 klms back to see her again the next year...not thinking for one minute she would remember me, after all how many people would she 'meet' in a year. But...when I spoke and she heard my voice she immediately swam to where I was standing in the water and I was blown away. Then she circled and returned with her calf and nudged the calf towards me as if to say 'here's my calf, isn't she/he beautiful'. Have to admit this brought tears to my eyes, because not only did she remember me from the previous year, but then she nudged her baby very close as if to introduce us. Talk about being on a high!! Such special and wonderful animals with amazing intelligence.
Never trust a dolphin. If they think you are smart they will gr*pe you. And if they think you are stupid they will toss you around like a toy. You got lucky that the dolphin wasn't in heat, otherwise she would have drowned you. Orca's are civilized, nobody has ever been attacked or gr*ped by a wild orca. But dolphins will do whatever they want without ethics or morals. You are lucky to be alive after a dolphin encounter.

My father deeply loved dolphins. They vacationed on the gulf twice a year for 40+ years. He got to know the dolphins well. In that time, they grew to trust him and introduce their young to him each spring as they taught them to fish the shoreline. I wonder if they miss him as much as I do.
Sorry for your loss, but this is such a heart warming story. Your dad sounded like he lived life right, and left his imprint on the world. I'm envious, my Dad would probably throw me to the sharks 😢
Had a similar experience with a male dolphin in Egypt, Shab Sheer East reef. He had one of these thin plastic grocery bags on his flipper and placed it in front of us and swam away. We tried to grab it, but he was too fast to get it back. So the next time he placed it before us, I dashed to the bag and grabt it. When he came back looking perplex, I took out my octopus stage, filled the bag with air and let it shoot up to the surface. He chased it, got it back on his flipper and took it down again, placing it in front of me. We played this game until I reached 40 bar. So around 40 minutes. At the end I took the bag out of the game, since garbage doesn't belong there. Best dive ever. To remove my smile for the rest of the day, surgery would have been the only way to get it off. Since digital cameras where quite new at that time, I just have 3 only 2.1MP and slightly blurred pictures of this adventure.🥰🐬
I was about 4 years old when a dolphin was found struggling to escape fish lines in shallow water. We all did all what we could to save her. She looked in my eye and I knew she was cognizant. We got her free and she immediately found her calf to nurse... it was so distressed as we pet it into calmness, one could feel its heart beating rapidly. It was truly afraid. She was so happy we swam for hours. For years, every time we hit the waves, there they would be. They have powerful emotions.
Man I thought she was just fascinated that you have removable fins, which was already cool. But really she was realizing that she has seen one of those before and knows what it is now. That's incredible.

What an incredible blessing having had this exchange with this marvelous dolphin. I wish I could tell these animals how profoundly I respect and admire them.
I should say, I'm a psychic medium & I can talk telepathically to dolphins, whales & porpoises so I told them for you. They are very grateful that there are so many people who really care about them (That's coming from both Captive & wild cetaceans but it's especially from those in captivity who before I became able to talk to them, thought we didn't care about them.) It warms their hearts & gives them hope for their future.
Probably the best way of telling all species that we respect and admire them is by protecting their environment and educating others the importance of protecting our natural environment.

I once had the sheer joy of playing catch back & forth with a baby dolphin for about 15-20 minutes straight. This was saddened by the fact she was born in captivity however not a performing animal. None of her pod was which was fantastic. Her keeper was astonished and said she had never played so intensely with one individual before. She told me she was jealous because she didn't even play with her like that. I said I was sorry but was sure she would soon and said i felt so privileged and would remember it forever. She picked me out if a huge crowd of people herself. I adore animals and had smiled at her. I truly believe most mammals can tell if someone is nonthreatening and/or kind. That was all it took i guess was a smile. It wasn't a feeding area or anything so she was just having fun. Her mom stayed by for a few minutes and then saw she was safe and swam off with her pod to hang out. It was nice her mom didn't see me as a threat. I was there with my 2 grown daughters, husband, and son in law. They all couldn't believe how long she wanted to play. I'll remember playing with her till the day I leave this place. It was a complete honor. Her little sqeaks & chirps playing with me were adorable.💕 She really was enjoying herself. One of the most profound moments of my simple life. 😊🐬
Interesting you say that, because Dolphins are the only sea creatures sharks fear. Sharks, who have the intelligence of a prehistoric creature, have one active thought cross their mind, and it is "do not expose my stomach to this dolphin" because they will accelerate their bottle noses into the shark's stomach with such force it ruptures organs.

That’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen I’ve met dolphins underwater when I was scuba diver but they never played with me what an incredible experience you had
That's because most dolphins never play with humans, freediving, or scuba diving. So when it happens, then you're very fortunate :) And it might not be a good thing to play with them anyway... Some dolphins will play with you and one of their fun is to poke you in the ribs. They mean no harm, ut what's "soft" for them may not always be the case for a human and you may end up with bruises or broken ribs. That's why in most aquariums where people are allowed to dive, they send the dolphins to a separate enclosure during that time.
The sense of peace and calm I experienced for a couple of days from a short interaction with a wild Dolphin is nothing compared to what this diver must have experienced. What an absolute lifelong privilege.

Yeah, my immediate thought was, "Hey, check out this flipper that I got off of another diver who I murdered this morning!" People forget that dolphins can be ***holes.
Yea, because people do not lose stuff all the time... Someone was using it, lost it and was not ready to dive for it because you need plenty of balast to free dive like the author of the video. Or someone got it on the edge of the boat and it simply fall of the boat. Your idea involve some decent ammount of agression and this dolphin is showing none...

Pretty incredible the dolphin recognized both fins as the same type of object despite them looking different, remembered where it saw one and brought it to play.
Im curious if he left it as a toy or took it out of the water because it is litter. If anything this is proof we could train dolphins to clean the oceans and they would think its a game.

@Timur Jalilov Take it from someone who had to learn how to walk again.. It's not an innate skill. It's something your brain learns to do.. I'm willing to bet that dolphin knows at least as much about physics as the average human. And probably more than some.. lol

My father deeply loved dolphins. They vacationed on the gulf twice a year for 40+ years. He got to know the dolphins well. In that time, they grew to trust him and introduce their young to him each spring as they taught them to fish the shoreline. I wonder if they miss him as much as I do.

You seem to be making the point that sustainable existence is impossible, and there's 4.5 billion years of evolution that proves that wrong, and only a few hundred years of humanity that have convinced themselves this is a reasonable position. (before that, things were arguably a bit more sustainable, though hardly 'good' by any modern measure)
These sudden human-wildlife encounters have a touch of magic about them! Wonderful footage! Thanks for posting it.
What an amazing interaction! You were
So blessed to have this encounter in the wild! Not restricted not forced but completely natural and beautiful! This is what dreams are made of! 💙
This made my entire body smile!! Thank you for sharing some of your joy with the rest of us!! Amazing!
Just like in cinderella!! That dolphins a prince! 🐬
I was dumbfounded just to see the dolphin showing you his fin! Literally laughed out loud when you had it on your head!!! The entire video made my day!! Thank you!!
They are smarter than we know.
Yes! They are
How gorgeous! What an incredible experience to have with such a beautiful, sentient animal. I love how gracefully she balances it on her head while moving around so effortlessly!
What an experience that must have been! Once in a lifetime. Thank you for respecting the dolphin by not trying to touch it.
I’ve been fiends with her for years. I’ve never touched her in all that time.
@@epender2383 thanks for respecting her! She is beautiful!!!
Oh, this was so adorable. Dusty is a real character and so intelligent. I wonder where he got the flipper from, who he nicked it from. Haha. 🐬
💚🙏 I'm struggling to find words for what this did to my heart, thank you so much for sharing this with us, such an awesome experience!💙🐬 Dusty obviously adored you, thanks for being such a cool human
I’m speechless. They are truly remarkable and beautiful. Would love to swim with a dolphin one day. Thank you for sharing this.
They feel like a wet rubber boot. They are awesome
Go and do it! I would never go into the wild ocean myself, too chicken, but I went to Dicovery Cove to have my experience and it was cool. Not as cool as a chance playtime with a wild dolphin but just as cool.
I cannot stop crying. It is my dream to swim with the dolphins someday! God this is beyond beautiful!
You shouldn’t, they are very big and dangerous!
People swim with dolphins in New Zealand all the time, and with what the west call killer whales. There are videos of people swimming with orca in New Zealand on UA-cam.
I saw a woman killed by a group of dolphins before. Was terrifying.
@@lonniaabye5745 Yeah Dusty has attacked people. He was pretty territorial.
There were a few swimmers that he liked but it wasn't advised to go in the water when he was around.
Such a beautiful experience. Wish humans could love like you two love each other.
Wow. That's amazing how a dolphin , which lives in a totally different environment , can literally play with a human and actually finding something to have in common with us (in this case , the fin). Wow. Amazing video. I bet it made your year !
Such a beautiful moment to share. Animals are incredible in general but dolphins are simply extraordinary. You are a very lucky man to have such an opportunity, so glad you are making the most of it. Dusty is also clearly enjoying himself, just wow.
I though dolphins are scarier then sharks.
@@artismbyjoey779 No, they're very curious, which also underlines their level of intelligence.
@@mrebholz Wish i can swim with them, but i cant because I'm not a professional.
.... that's why I've always loved dolphins... Their natural smiling expression is like a mirror of how smart and feeling they are..
This has to be one of the most heartwarming videos I have ever watched! A truly beautiful moment! It is a uplifting thing to make this kind of contact with a wild being!
Absolutely precious! What a wonderful connection you have with this beautiful animal.
That dolphin is more thoughtful and kind than most people! ❤️❤️
Watching that Dolphin, actively playing with his pal, is really wonderful. Bringing the fin with him after watching the diver take off and adjust his fins, the day before, is incredible and lovely at the same time. Them swimming side by side, wild Dolphin, and Human diver, playing, as if pod members. maybe he has no pod of his own, and is enjoying the company of the diver, like a brother, or family member?
I had a profoundly lucid dream about 4 yrs ago where a dolphin appeared inches in front of my face, suspended in air. I placed my hands on both sides of his head and felt, inside the dream, the most complete state of universal love I’ve ever sensed. The kind people talk about during NDE’s. I’ll never forget it. There is something very special about them, also whales, elephants and many other species. We have yet to understand the intelligence of all creation.
805 freaking views ??? This video should have at least a million ! :) awesome !!!
Thank you Marta. Haha, I think I have displeased the UA-cam Gods!!
I agree, I shared this. Let’s all do that and get it up over the million view mark still. It truly is a wonderful story of a beautiful and magnificent animal. They really are SO SMART, and so are the dolphins (OF COURSE) 😂🤣. JK of course, I don’t know how anyone cannot love dolphins (porpoise), they are brilliant and majestic! ❤️❤️❤️
@@buddgeiger7147 Thank you for your support!!!
Sometimes people just slip outside of the algorithm. Even bad content that gets lucky and hits the algorithm blow up.
I just now saw this and shared it with everyone I know! I think maybe it didn't get uploaded right or something cuz I'm with you I can't believe it hasn't been around the world 50 times!
Awwww ...how precious, gentle and intelligent is Dusty. You're so lucky.
You should see the other videos of dusty messing people up haha
Beautiful video, amazing dolphin! Thanks for posting
This dude played fetch with a dolphin 🐬
You must have tons of amazing experiences!!!
God bless you 🕊️
