my personal reference . use chocolate vanilla or coffee sponge cake layers instead of lady fingers and do the coffee soaking too while in the dish. much more delicious than plain air biscuit

The store bought lady fingers work for this recipe, for me, because I soak them in a coffee, chocolate and liquor mixture and they can absorb more w/o falling apart when they’re a bit drier. I very much enjoy homemade lady fingers with a cup of coffee or tea!
For each egg 30 g of sugar and 40 g of flour. Beat egg yolks with half of the sugar and beat the other half with the egg whites. Once done mix the two and add to the flour (sifted) with vanilla extract to taste, not too much though. Place it in a piping bag and pipe over a parchment paper in a cake pan and sprinkle sugar on top with a sieve. Should take about 15 minutes to bake. It comes out soft but will harden as it cools
Very good treat again, MK. MK's speech, voice reminds me of the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz. Personally, I don't like the movie. But once you've seen it you don't forget. And it's always on repeat this time of year.

Tip.. I hate raw egg so I whip the egg with sugar over a water bath , then quickly cool it over ice and add to marscapone mixture...

Can you order lady fingers online? If not, great recipes for lady fingers are available via Google. Good luck!
I use Bigger Bolder Baking's recipe. It has never failed me. I find that store-bought ladyfingers are often hollow and dry, these are not!

I don't like raw egg. Whip egg and sugar over hot water, cool. Then add the cheese. Instead if raw egg white, i use whipped cream.
