Great video! Yeah...Boss DS-1 is meant to be used as preamp. I have the same expirienece with Boss DS-1 pedal. It never really sounded that good or good at all in front of clean amp (basically preamp section), but straight into either fx return of combo amp (power amp), or (like in your case) separate power amp section + guitar cab. Yeah, it was not my favorite pedal to begin with but it looks like maybe I was just using it wrong. Now, igamine someone who could actually play the guitar with that tone;)
