Another great episode. That jacket is looking pretty cool and battle scared. Love it. I had the same trouble with my GPS so I made a full, four sided cowl to fit over the front. Works a treat.
That was a nice ride today Jim thanks for sharing it sorry you didn’t get to see your friend in Ottawa but glad the other lad that you stayed with is doing well we never know what is around the corner for us take care hope you’re week is going great
Been a couple of years since I was in southern Ontario. That's going to be between Windsor and Detroit, right? Maybe in a few years... I'll let them get it finished first.
@@OldGuyonaBike Yes, between Detroit and Windsor. It is being built from both sides at the same time and it is connected together now, so I suppose you could ride across. But letting them finish it and open it to the public would be a good idea. Probably save some legal problems Scheduled to open in 2025
Jim, I am 70 years as well and love riding my Harley every day on our beautiful roads of Ontario and elsewhere. Every day is a blessing and we aren't guaranteed anything. Thanks.
I hope you Continue to have a great trips. I used my 73 850cc Full Dress Moto Guzzi from Ohio out to Tucson AZ, and Back, 6 times towing a 23 cu ft Trailer, Back in the Day when Trailers were Very unusual(1975 thru 1999}. In 1980, I was at the Original Aspencade Get together in Ruidoso NM{In which the Honda is named after}, and entered a fuel economy contest and took 3rd place at 89.3 mpg.{I was the Only Full dresser}, Still have Photos and the Certificate.. Proper Motorcycling is a Lot of Fun and you can see so much, and like the Goldwing the Guzzi is so comfortable the Wife would sometimes fall a Sleep.🏍👍☺
I've always liked the Guzzi. When I was nineteen I bought a used BMW R75/5 so I've always been partial to shaft drives and long distances. I've had friends doze off on the BMW, my ST1300 and now the Goldwing lol. Hoping to get another decade or so of riding in... with video of course.
Jim I can tell you are a sport bike rider….here is how…I have yet seen you use the highway pegs! I have been riding touring bikes for most of my life and I live on my highway pegs but I have not seen you use yours yet let me say this once you get used to using them you never go back. Give them a try I think you will like them.🤘🏼
Actually it's all about egonomics and long legs. I did not have much time to do any modifications before I left. I do have to lower my footpegs and I have to find extenders for the highway pegs. I could not comfortable get my feet on them at all. Will be working on that over the winter.
Following your trip Jim. It looks like you have your GPS protected from glare with a sunshade. I was going to ask about it but you indicate that you still have problems seeing the screen. I guess I’ll look for another option. Great video. Cheers
I don't think they make this model any more, Cal. There are some that look like they are built on the same body but the electronics are different. I can't complain as I got it for around $150 Cdn. and it does a good job as long as I enter the data correctly lol. There is a "dark" mode which I have trouble finding all the time that does make it a little better. That day I was heading west and the sun was mid morning over from the east. I think most screens would have a problem. I have thought about getting an anti-glare screen and seeing if that helps. It will die a few times later in the series as it overheated in 40C temps but my phone did the same. I will look for a newer bargain basement GPS this spring. Not ready to spring $5-800 on one.
Jim; Great video!! Anybody that wants you to go to a trike tell them to take a hike!! Totally agree with a side car!! Awesome banjo music!! Your video shows dry box lid coming open and closing!! Did you fix your starter relay? God Bless Merry Christmas Happy New Year safe ridin rubber down!!
Another good, albeit long day. The life of a traveling soul..
Happy to see you doing best, Old Guy on a bike. Victor from South Africa .
@@lufunodreadierambuda5800 thanks Victor. One day at a time.
I'm really enjoying this trip as an older rider myself at 62 I find it very inspiring to watch how you handle that big goldwing
At slow speeds the Goldwing is a handfull but is she ever agile once you get past a crawl. thanks for coming along.

The shoulder armour wanted to fall out. I think I ditched it a couple of days later. I do have to beef up my cowl.
great video keep the rubber side down have fun

@@tomfillmore9710 that's part of my message this adventure. We sometimes don't have a say in what happens. Take advantage of our time, it is finite.
I hope that you get to cross the Gordie Howe bridge when it's finished.
Enjoying the trip. Thanks for bringing us along

As usual Jim I love the scenery.
It's just going to get better.
Nice riding and it's too bad you couldn't see your friend! That was a good day from the border to Iron Bridge, Ride safe....
It was a good ride day, nothing spectacular but decent. At my age I am coming to the realization that a lot of things could be "the last time."

Cornwall to ironbridge is a long ride!
One of my longest on this trip. I tried to keep the days shorter.
Thought your jacket would be exhibiting some duct tape as a patch job. -would look eccentric 😊

I wonder if the “airfoil” deployment @2:00 improved your mileage?
lol I doubt it.
Why would you pass a Tim Hortons? Great place! 😂
@@dougcookston5118 I had just stopped at a Tim's 1/2 hr before. Had my coffee fix. Would only last another hour or so lol.

I like Bluegrass, Johnny! Won't start winter maintenance til the new year. Have got both new relays ready to go in.
That's not the bridge you crossed 3 times in a few minutes once is it
This is a similar bridge further downstream. Run by the same authority.
