Generation Kill Marines Reunion!!
Savage Actual
The difference between Rudy with the boys and Rudy with celebrities of the tv show is awesome. Night and day.
Rudy and Josh will be back soon with their own episodes.
I was actually just thinking the same thing. I guess he just knows how to play the game with other people. Good to see that he is still one of the boys.
Ya don’t want it to be taken the wrong way but it wouldn’t been nice to hear from the other guys without being interrupted.
Rudy’s a vampire. No signs of aging whatsoever
Hahaha
He went to San Francisco remember? He wanted to be with people that take care of their body's, no fat people.
He gets gets younger the older his is
It's not gay if you think he's hot. You can say it
Dude ran into Lestat while he was partying around LA. 😂😂😂
Fruity Rudy still looking like he's taking the grooming standard to the next level lol
That's Rudy Reyes to you.
Apparently Sixta was the one who really took the grooming standard to heart
Cant even believe that Rudy is 51, he looks 20 years younger, he's a stud.
Also, amazing video, very interesting and informative.
"We Blitzkrieged so fuckin hard, dude..."
All I thought was, "Man, Erwin Rommel would have been impressed that we implemented Blitzkrieg tactics to this day."
Guderian
There was an anecdote of an IFV having Rommel inside on its wall; it was transporting surrendered Iraqis and one of them spoke in perfect English asking "Why do you have a photo of a previous adversary in your vehicle?" and the crew chief responded saying "If you studied him you wouldn't be riding in the back of my track right now."
People incorrectly attribute Blitzkrieg to Rommel. Rommel certainly did lead a Panzer Division to Dunkirk and led Afrika Korps. But the Blitzkrieg doctrine itself was above his pay grade. That honour goes to a collection of the German General staff comprising: von Manstein, Guderian, Rundstedt, Model, Kleist, Reichenau, and Paulus
@@sztypettto Yeah. However, I actually forgot that British General Percy Hobart was actually the one who invented Blitzkrieg tactics. Yet, Guderian is credited for it, in particular, because he implemented the tactic in battle. He read Hobart's book. I'm not kidding you on that. It's funny how there is that common theme, where future adversaries read each other's books to pick one another's brains apart.
@@IzzyManDude military officers around the world have been reading each other's publications and works for centuries. However attributing credit to Hobart for Achtung Panzer! and Blitzkrieg as the brainchild is a bit of a stretch. Prussians had been using their cavalry for manoeuvre warfare since the time of the Teutonic Order of Knights. As did the French, the Poles, and the Mongols. Manoeuvre warfare stood in stark contrast to Greco-Roman Phalanx formations. You're right about the fact that future adversaries read each other's literature to pick their brains apart. Schwarzkopf and several military planners studied German WW2 military tactics during the 80s, which was the advent of books, games, and entertainment merchandise about WW2 was being published into the market. However to the point about Blitzkrieg, the word is an Anglo-American journalistic invention. Nobody in Germany used the term Blitzkrieg. From a top-down strategic level Eric von Manstein was Germany's master strategist. Paulus participated in wargames to test von Manstein's strategies. Guderian was a junior ranking General who implemented von Manstein's strategies on a divisional level. Yet precedence for this manoeuvre warfare existed in WW1 in the shape of Stoßtruppen (aka Storm Troopers). The Germans in WW1 masterfully used artillery as enablement tools for conducting breach, concealment, diversion, breakthrough, suppression, and destruction. The Stuka replaced the artillery to a significant degree, and does not get credited enough. While the Storm Troopers were replaced by tanks. Blitzkrieg was an iteration by the Germans, not an invention nor an inspired work.
So I've been a paramedic for almost 15 years now, it's insane how you guys talk amongst yourselves exactly how we talk amongst each other. The amount of respect that I have for you gives cant even be described. Thank you for everything thing you've done.
They should watch their entire show together as a reaction video
YES
I was in from 88-95 and ended up at 3/8 Lima after Security Forces in Charleston. Ended up being an Amphibious Raid instructor at SOTG and was with guys from 1st Force , 2nd Force, 2nd recon, and 3 alpha! Best brothers ever! RIP Curt Morris! Semper Fi
Thank you for this EPIC EPISODE. Love ya Rudy! From Generation Kill , Ultimate Survival Alaska, to count less interviews, Nat Geo documentaries, more interviews to the recent SAS Who Dares Wins series. Love ya Rudy!!
It's when Brad comes to see why the other to got demoted. I've been looking for that song since the first time I heard it and ever since. Thanks Person for finally settling that once and for all.
Sorry you had to reupload. UA-cam is a pain in the ass. This seriously made my day! Also I was today years old when I realized Rudy played himself! I was like “MAN! Talk about perfect casting! The guy who played Rudy really looked and sounded like him!”
Hahaha, that's pretty funny. Thanks for your support!
Jason has also auditioned for the role of himself - but didn't get the part lol
Ive watched this so many times. I want more. Please
It was a beautiful episode, you guys are truly fantastic! It's amazing to see you all together, thank you for sharing some of your stories with us!
This was a ton of fun to watch!
Time to watch it again for dinner!
As a vet, I want to say thank you for this video. It was very comforting hearing other Marine stories with humor, it really means a lot.
Woohoo!!! I messaged Rudy telling him I liked the SAS show and he actually replied. You guys are great!
Thanks for watching! This is a recut of the earlier podcast we posted. The ratio on the last post was incorrect, and cant be fixed without removing. Thanks for watching. We hope you guys enjoy this episode. www.savageactual.com/podcast
Thank you for this episode!! loved it!
Can y'all ask if Patrick knew Jason Duehring back in riverine craft?
Really enjoyed this episode! Thank you for taking the time to answer questions, and everything else!
Thanks for watching..we have some great guests already recorded and coming soon.
Bros! Had a few beers myself while watching. ERR!!! This was awesome, thank you. Semper fi
Rock on! Semper!
“I don’t agree with you at all!”
“I’m listening to you brotha… I feel it.”
I love their friendship it’s so pure.
Built through fun and fire.
kind of want to see Iceman and Lieutenant Nate
Nate fick moved on last time I heard he’s like some corporate big shot now lol
Fick started a software company and was recently made head of digital policy for the braindead administration.
@@DbolOnlyGangster Ray moved on even before. Officers just weren't part of the gang. Fick is a bigshot in the Biden administration "Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy".
He's an ambassador of some type. Pretty cool actually
This was a great watch, my uncle Erik Mathijssen was with y’all in bravo company. I never asked him about what he thought of Gen Kill in comparison to his experiences, not my place to ask. But I did watch the series and read the article and book, wanted to take in as much about it as I could. Pretty cool to listen to y’all’s experiences!
Can't wait to watch this
Thanks! Please add a review of the Savage Actual podcast on your favorite podcast platform! We appreciate the support.
"I LOVE YOU FRUITY RUDY!"
Good to see guys
cheers to you boys. true warriors and good men
I read Gen. Kill when it first came out, and maybe a year later I'm standing on the Yellow Footprints. Then the series came out right as I was getting out, but I will maintain it is the gold standard for how Marines act.
There are no words. Only Love💚
This was amazing, loved it and thank you!
You guys are quite the deep dive. I remember a while back I watched the show and just wanted to know more about everyone. I agree so much with Rudy with what I got out of the show, sure we see some heads clashing from time to time, and its good to see as time moves on people clearing rhings up so average people like me can see that Encino Man, Godfather, and other characters were just that - characters. In hindsight with how everything played out it was like the stars aligned to create a story for Hollywood.
I LOVE YOU FRUITY RUUUUUDY
WE LOVE YOU FRUITY RUDY!!!!!
This shit is a fckn gold mine! The way I see it, Josh should have wrote the book instead of mr Wright. That would have rocked.
Never too late for him, or any of them to write or film their own perspective
Wow, memories. I was in the Diwaniyah tank base in early April '03 with the 82nd before Marines from Pendleton relieved us. When we moved in there were a bunch of unexploded cluster bomblets everywhere. 3 I think Illinois NG dudes were wounded when they stepped on one. Memories.
I love how in 20 years Josh has transformed into a wise old sage who will give you guidance on your journey... And Rudy decided to just not age 😂
I kill to see you play six days in fallujah with these guys they are fucking awesome to hang with you can just feel the real brother energy from all these guys.
It's actually up on here. We played an early release of six days in Fallujah.
@@SAVAGEActual agreed. you guys should make that a weekly tradition. that would bring a lot of us back. you could feature different warriors on your team each week and show off all those tactics you guys know
Awesome to see you lot and hear all the stories and your time together and apart.
Also love seeing and hearing the difference in perspective and life and character between the show and real life.
Cheers for your time and service lads and hopefully we’ll see more of you guys together - come on Savage you need to have Rudy and Ray and others on ax side guests for movie and game reactions.
Also being a Brit and remembering the latest military simulation games.
Royal Marines continue to rule the waves you colonial sea dogs 🇬🇧
Hahaha, stick around we got a brit coming for you next week.
great podcast guys loved it
I was the RP with you guys in 2003. I have a lot of memories with guys...
Awesome!
Weetabix! "Was that Iraqi food?"
Priceless, Weetabix is British mate lol.
All the best chaps.
Cheers.
I could see why "Iceman" got a lick more used than it would've been, given that they were talking a lot and the scribe was in the same vicinity. Kinda like in school when you have a few groups and several nicks depending on how they're formed.
Person's line of "Uh uh, not retarded enough" is still my favorite thing to say when wondering why supervisors at work have us do something stupid.
We love you, Fruity Rudy!!!
I love listening to Ray, he is such a character, easily underestimated. Rudy is as usual, way over the top, but likeable. Just wish he'd dialed it down a bit.
Fascinating insights though
My biggest regret is damaging my body before I was 18. I wish I had brothers like this.
It doesn’t make you gay if you think Rudy’s hot 😆
Hahaha
Jesus he's beautiful.
He's a beautiful man. We love you fruity Rudy!
I aspire to "have his body"
when at the gym. LMAO.
He's not just hot, he's body conscious
If anyone wants to teach their children sbout heroes, these are the men, as well as all operators and those who put their lives (and those who lost their lives) in the fight for every one of us w😊ho rnjoy freedom!
My top (2) regrets are: not picking the MOS for RECON (110+ GT score), and being influenced by my recruiter to not-pick my first choice: 0311. If anyone of you going in feels like you can mix it up with these dudes, than hate your life a little better by actually making the choice you like to make. My self hate hits my ceiling all the time.
Me gusta la serie generation kill❤❤❤❤❤❤
Don't know if Jason reads these but I was always curious about the last scene in GK where they get together to watch Lilleys video. Any footage in there real from Jasons actual camera? Or were they all just shot for the show? Did Jason even shoot a video during the invasion at all?
While I was on a later deployment my ex wife stopped paying a storage unit I had. They cut the lock and sold all my shit. All the footage was in that unit. I have no idea where it went.
@@SAVAGEActualdon't wanna be that guy on the internet bad mouthing people i know nothing about or the situation they were in. But she had to have known stuff like that was in there. Which just screams cunt to me. If the usage of that is in correct i do preemptively apologize. Either way love the channel content and the video.
@@SAVAGEActual I am rewatching the series and was also wondering that, that suuucks.
@@SAVAGEActualall those memories gone. I know how that feels. I had a family member who lost their stuff due to an auction. It's so disrespectful to do that to someone.
That's fucked. @@SAVAGEActual
Love you men!!!!! With You!! ❤
i quote Cpl. Person like 3 times a week. Generation Kill was a sick book an awesome series and an ok audiobook
Just released an episode with Josh person on our audio podcast. He's a very cool fella.
Just awesome,I know about many people that joined the marines stateside because of this show or the military in general in other NATO countries.
Man I wanted to know about the air strike !! 100 tanks at 15 clicks 😂😂
"the sand was evil"
HMLA-169 World Famous Vipers, sending love to you guys!
It’s FRUITY RUDY!!!!
Not only was the MRE's old as fuck in Afghanistan the ammo was shit too. SAW drums were so fucking old the plastic would break were they clip in to the SAW. We would have to jam rocks in it to keep them in place or just pull the full belt out
That sucks
@SAVAGEActual that video brought back alot of memories. I remember going to camp matilda from lsa 5 and did some training with some of your snipers. They built a bad ass sniper hide and did some kims games with us.
These stories are SO damn inspirational!! The one about the saving the kid at the airfield, massive respect to you. God bless you outstanding group of heroes. 🫡
Thanks for watching
I LOVE YOU FRUITY RUDY!!!!!
Hahaha
Fruity rudy still dresses like a pimp queen
Hahaha
Rudy and josh just took over. Love it.
Fruity Rudy!
Love you brother
Rock on!
I hope you guys get on the Shawn Ryan Show.
"I love you Fruity Rudy!"
fruity rudy hell yeah i loved generation kill now that was a well done show seriously i have never been in the military but i can appreciate the military humour along with the men and women who have served
You came up on notifications.
Truth be told, I've been surfing other channels dealing with G/K recaps.
Going to revisit the series becos of you guys.
So, 9 mths after, I still have to add my 'Big Hand' to you and HBO for the show.
Rudi's still looking cool.
Would have loved to see my boy Paddy or as the book and movie says Pappy. Love ya brother.
🎵 *Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, RUDEEY* 🎵
24:05 canked. Damn I haven't heard that used in a long time.
Rah.
I had something similar happen to me when i was younger. Got 2nd degree burns on the entire palm of my left hand. Happened on a friday night by monday morning my hand was healed enough that it was out of the gauze wrap and i was free to use it. Still have lasting heat insensitivity in it. Like i feel the heat it just doesn't bother me in that hand.
lets go! Freaking badarse WARFIGHTERS AND HEROS.
Release July to August 2008 on HBO
THE VEGGIE OMELETTE lmao
So gross. Hahaha
Man I was stationed in Great Falls and know exactly where Moes is at.
@savageactual I had the unfortunate pleasure of knowing Sixta as a Staff Sergeant at First Force Recon Company. He punished a good friend of mine for a few dings on a wall locker inspection. Made him dig fighting holes all weekend long with the DNCO supervising. He would come in and berate my friend. His uniform looked like garbage and was so faded. Marines in the company hated him.
Was the reserve recon company bad as the series made them look?
Generation Kill portrays the marines as normal guys, while Band of Brothers portrays the men as perfect soldiers.
I can guarantee there was some skewed reality.
@@SAVAGEActual Sure, Generation Kill has marines saying: "2300 hours" instead of "2300" You also see the marines using PAQ-4s when they should be using PEQ-2s, they also alter and omit a few details about 2nd platoon's push through Al Gharraf like how: Walt was actually knocked out by the wire which the Iraqis hung low to try and decapitate American gunners, he didn't get stuck on the wire and held up the entire convoy. Colbert also got his humvee stuck in Quicksand after they made it out of the town and at the T intersection, so the rest of the platoon got out of their humvees and took cover behind concrete barriers in the middle of the road to return fire and cover Colbert's humvee, then Major Eckloff rushed over to Colbert's humvee offering an incendiary grenade saying: "Abandoned your humvee, termite the radio!"I'm not abandoning this vehicle!" Colbert replied. Then, a tow truck came over and towed Colbert's humvee out of the Quicksand. Colbert often made fun of the maintenance support unit, but they just saved his humvee, so yes there is skewed reality, but what I meant is that most other war films portray the troops as being the best in their division, when these men were just normal guys trusted into extraordinary situations.
WTF was that Rudy 32:01 😂he’s a funny guy
I like the randomnessof "Oh fuck, I thought George Bush was the shit, man."
You “BRO’s” are missing a BRO… Eric Kocher… share the Glory
Fruity Rudy I love you!!!!!!!!!!
Great episode! Patrick needs to fix his microphone setup because every time he spoke up while the rest was talking all the sound would cut out.
Thankfully most of the cast was fine and it's brilliant to hear these stories from first-hand sources.
I feel like the ripping on the higher ranks in Generation Kill is mostly from being literally written on the backseat of a car full of grunts.
If rolling stone was embedded with Ferrando's vehicle you'd just have a book with stories of lazy undisciplined marines failing missions and intentionally shooting civilians.
As long as you take the biases into account I feel like Generation Kill made it a lot more accessible to what actually goes on and gives me another level of respect for what you've accomplished.
Early in Rudy says Colbert ruined his own career..? I’d like context on that cause didn’t Colbert retire as a MSgt?
did you really say "brah" a lot back on generation kill?
I still wanna know why episode 2 just magically disappeared on HBO and it’s now a 6 part series?
I can send you the 2nd episode, if you want it, please let me know through my business email
DAMN say hello for me
roger.
Damn so wanted to hear more inside baseball on the Colbert somehow wrecking his career by him choosing certain marines. Because I always thought his career flourished after the invasion
Cuddos to the best TV series ! Love from Israel
Who is the guy in the back?
I love you fruity Rudy!
Weetabix or weetbix is Australian as well
👍👍👍👍👍
:)
I wish you guys would contact Joe Rogan. You guys would have a great fuckin podcast together
That would be fun, Joe's a good fella.
40:07 LIFE LESSON .
"There's no fat people in san Francisco " hahaha. Bless you all. You're all american heros. Thanks for your service and now making me laugh and be more informed on you all individually. Thank you!
I’m really enjoying the show, but I kind of feel bad for the fellas in back.
Every time they tried to talk they got cut off, but they are at a brewery and definitely not the best set up.
I really enjoyed it otherwise, thanks!
🍻

Is that trambly
Seals are almost as good as delta.
