Jeff you are officially the coolest dude on earth. Firefighter. Ex special forces. You build and restore awesome sport cars in your home garage and you are a gamer :)
thanks for the inspiration. i'm still putting the final touches on my rig, but i've managed to put it together for free. free hardwood pallet timber, free ek civic seat, free water damaged dining table for the top, and screws and other hardware from the table as a bonus
took a shot everytime you said ''pieca timba", Im sloshed mate love it! I wouldn't want to build my racing sim any other way, thanks for the upload Sire
This man is a god damn hero! Love the simplicity. I tend to over build things. Skill lies in building simple, elegant, and strong. This checks those boxes.
I just found the first video and plan to start my rig this evening. During this quarantine I've been doing a lot of racing. LOL Thanks for sharing the update! Good to see you are still running!
Actually liked and found it very entertaining...probably put some foam around ur support bar so u won't wear the paint and wood out as quickly getting out of it. Great video man
now i am newly confused about right handed and left handed driving. Thanks Aussies (Dutch European here). Great build, so down to earth figuring it out. I think it is really cool how people who are not 'into the craft' measure up things like a thousand times, whereas people like you just go with it because it can always be replaced. thanks for a fine vid.
When I saw where you originally mounted the gear stick, I had visions of constantly smacking your knuckles against the bottom of the screen, so I was relieved to see you moved it :) If I had the space, I'd have a go at building something like this. Good work!
I originally got my base plan from your original video. Only I did all these upgrades then. I also used scrap 2x4 I had laying around and used metal brackets to support parts of the build so that over time it would not become loose and wabble from strong force input. For the keyboard, I used a swing arm so that i would be able to swing it away from the shifter since they are both on the same side, also the footprint would stay the same since the adjustable arm could be tucked in while moving it. For my seat, I got a 1990 ford ranger leather seat I found at the junk yard for 40$ with seat rails. Your setup was the best in my opinion after watching a few other videos, thanks for the inspiration 👍
It's great that you did this follow-up. Here it is October, 2021, and I'm doing my own version of your design, having begun BeamNG a few weeks ago, my first driving sim in over 20 years. I'm in the middle of the main construction right now. For the seat, I had an old office computer chair around. It was, unfortunately, more difficult to mount, and it has no forward-and-back adjustment. Thanks.
I guess I know what i'm going to be doing while we are shut down and in quarantine! Yes post some sim videos, Porsche videos, eating your lunch videos, just post anything and everything please! lol
Nice result, and a very practical build. Well done! I might choose some "finer" materials for some parts (like what we call "1 by" lumber, instead of "2 by", for that side brace), but I really like the overall plan. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I am about to flatter you! And yes, nice seats can be had at a wreckers yard for very little money, especially from what we in Canada call U-Pull yards.
Thanks Jeff. I built a very similar rig after watching your first video. Watching that build made me realise how easy it is to do and me and my lads have had hours of fun on it (when I get a turn). It's a simple build, 1 42" monitor running Nascar heat 4 and Project cars 2 on PS4. It's pretty good to be honest. You have definitely turned me into a keen sim racer. (The wife says thanks 🤔) I might upgrade to iracing and triple screen one day. On lockdown here in the UK so maybe I will get some hours on it! Make the best of a bad time. Stay safe, Cheers 👍
Thinking about making my son a setup just like this. Well just like the one in the 1st video. He will be on xbox series s soon and I got him the logitech g920 to go along with it. He REALLY wants to play forza horizon 5 so I thought getting the g920 to go with the xbox would be pretty sweet! He'll be pumped! But yea I was looking at setups but then decided to look up diy videos on how to make one. This one has been easy and seems nice and sturdy. So thank you very much for taking the time to make a video explaining and showing how to make this. Really is nice and easy and it works!
Bought mine today ruffly 14$ of wood and a box of 11$ wood screws...to start the frame, then ill go back for the top board the size i need around 10$ plus the paint we are speaking about total 40$ for the rig and a friend has gratiously given me a honda civic driver seat so im good to go. Just brainstorming the lenghts to cut here in quebec canada thanks M8!!!
Thanks Jeff. Thanks for the update. I actually made the exact sim from your video. I just went to the wreckers and got a commodore seat for $30.00. Bargain. Love the triples. Might have to look into something like yours. I too am trying to leave Project Cars 2 to IRacing. I need a new computer 1st. Working on that now. Thanks for videos. 👍👍👍
Must get around to completing my sim rig one day. Yours looks brilliant Jeff! Apparently the IKEA Poang chair makes for a good budget racing chair if you don't have a real one lying about.
Good stuff , ($50 all up ) looks like im off to bunnings, for some non structural timber ,(cheap as shit) and a seat from an ED falcon, thanks for the inspiration mate , just have to go on shopping day so im doing essential shopping and all that ,given current times 👍
Have you tried using VR instead of 3 monitors? I will build exactly like yours, but i will going to VR to use less space you know? Amazing video, seriously, I was giving up until I found this easy way. Thanks!
Jeff, I love the video and I would watch you do I racing sim videos. This is Truckerguy257 and I built a trucking sim rig as I play Euro trucking sim 2 and American trucking sim games myself
Hi, Nice rig. Ever thought of replacing the right hand side upright with one angled back. Should'nt make too much impact on strength but will make getting in and out easier.
Great stuff.. I watched both videos... Yes, post a video of you using it (if you have not done that already).. Just one more mod you need but... Where do you put your beer?? I'd suggest off the left of the support bit.
Love the update and would definitely like to see some sim racing vids. Did you hear that V8 Supercars and the Australian touring car are both currently organising eRacing series for their drivers on iRacing. Would love to see some youtubers take on the pros in a ProAm type series.
It would be great if you put your whole setup on a on wooden plate and then attach 4 small but wide springs near the center of sim rig and than attach it to another wood plate on the ground so your whole setup is not very stable . So when you play racing games the whole rig will move with your body and you will get something similar to motion seats!
I don't have enough scrap wood on hand to build something like this, nor do I have a working car controller. But I DO have an old Sparco racing bucket in my garage that I bought used about twelve years ago. That will be the seat when/if I ever build a sim rig - provided my fat butt still fits in it.
Hi Jeff. I recently built a simrig inspired by your first video. I let my imagination run wild on it and it is now way too big for my tiny house. I have a build vid up I'd love you to check out if you have the time. I hope yourself and Mrs Jeff are staying safe in these uncertain times. Take care.
The screens wobbled a lot when you just moved the wheel back and forth as you said they dont wobble. Kind of seems really wobbly to me. I did a super cheap setup and what I did is build a separate stand for the three screens so its not touching the rest of the rig.
Ok was trying to think of a way fix my pedal set. My 2nd rig pedal set slips all over the place. Thanks again for sharing. How are you liking iracing? I'm still on ps4
Great idea! I don't get why you didn't place the keyboard "shelf" to your left, and the shifter on your right. Could be easier getting in and out and would definitly make shifting gears feel more natural and realistic...
Homie deadass made the freakin coolest racing sim I’ve seen for like maybe 50 bucks.... I’m subscribing on principle
@@tenatra wait what 😐
Jeff you are officially the coolest dude on earth. Firefighter. Ex special forces. You build and restore awesome sport cars in your home garage and you are a gamer :)
Haha. I wouldn't call myself a gamer as such. I only Sim Race as I can't get to a real track as often as I would like ;)
Next update: Cutting a car in half to build the ultimate simrig=)
there is one with a VW Golf front (i think) from quite a few years back... pretty impressive :)
😂🍻🏁🏁🏁
Just go to a scrap yard and but half a car
Thats my next project
thanks for the inspiration. i'm still putting the final touches on my rig, but i've managed to put it together for free. free hardwood pallet timber, free ek civic seat, free water damaged dining table for the top, and screws and other hardware from the table as a bonus

Built two, with mods, Outstanding, much thanks.

I think this video sums up the sim racing life. You start small, figure you'll just dabble. Then it just escalates.
When I saw where you originally mounted the gear stick, I had visions of constantly smacking your knuckles against the bottom of the screen, so I was relieved to see you moved it :) If I had the space, I'd have a go at building something like this. Good work!

Glad it inspired you to make the best version for you.
I would love to see a sim race. The litte tid bit you showed look good.
Seriously the most relevant video made at the perfect time. Thanks!
So glad I found this set of videos, can do one myself now! Just need to find a cheap seat...
We would love to watch the sim videos
Starting to think that building one of these myself is a much more tantalizing option over buying one...
Superb video, I'm gonna make one for my sons wheel and pedal

Awesome video, thank you. I am inspired to build my own sim rig now! Liked and subscribed.
Thank you so much roger federer
Nice rig.. gives inspiration to make one myself onetime.
Nicely done Sir,Cheers!

It is still nice and sturdy 3 years later ;)
You should put a sheet of ply on the underside and install automotive carpet. That would be cool.
Esta muy bien, facil de hacer y lo más importante gracias por compartir eres una gran persona saludos desde Mexico
Very well done; a nice sim setup logically assembled and fully functional.
Dude. This has helped so much. Thanks for uploading this vid
Hi Jeff, just finishing my own rig build up, so will soon be on Iracing as well. be great to see you out on track! LOL
Thank you bro, I am going to do it at the weekend :)
PS You are looking like Roger Federer!
Must get around to completing my sim rig one day. Yours looks brilliant Jeff! Apparently the IKEA Poang chair makes for a good budget racing chair if you don't have a real one lying about.
Haha thanks for the idea! I was thinking about how to locate a 911 seat...this is a great video.
Good stuff , ($50 all up ) looks like im off to bunnings, for some non structural timber ,(cheap as shit) and a seat from an ED falcon, thanks for the inspiration mate , just have to go on shopping day so im doing essential shopping and all that ,given current times 👍
I’d love a sim rig but i have nowhere to put one . Be interesting to see a bit of you road testing your rig, so to speak!
Nest the hand break 😌
I like it plain and simple👍. Could you show how you mount the monitor?
I mean, it sounds like it would be obvious but I think that actually showing us you using it would be a great plus
Love driving SIM's. Does Mrs. Jeff give you a time limit. LOL
I love it. You are such a big kid!
Have you tried using VR instead of 3 monitors?
I will build exactly like yours, but i will going to VR to use less space you know?
Amazing video, seriously, I was giving up until I found this easy way. Thanks!
I made the same one u did I works amazing
Man's got two Porkers and a few bits of spare wood. Respect
Great video. Am of to my shed 👍👍👍
I bought a rig, and VR. I love it.
Jeff, I love the video and I would watch you do I racing sim videos. This is Truckerguy257 and I built a trucking sim rig as I play Euro trucking sim 2 and American trucking sim games myself
Hey Jeff great job
Hi, Nice rig. Ever thought of replacing the right hand side upright with one angled back. Should'nt make too much impact on strength but will make getting in and out easier.
You could, but I have no issues with getting in and out, and this way it feels like you are getting into an open wheeler ;)
Any links to the screens and monitor stand, maybe even the PC used? Great job with this, I think i will follow in your footsteps.
The screens and stand are quite old and were given to me by mates. The PC I also bought second hand.
Great videos man.
Great job !
Great video mate. Thanks for the great idea you just gave me :)
Great stuff.. I watched both videos... Yes, post a video of you using it (if you have not done that already)..
Just one more mod you need but... Where do you put your beer?? I'd suggest off the left of the support bit.
I started work on mine this afternoon.. I'm using a poang chair..
All you need now is a electric water bottle to keep hydrated, helmet and roll cage lol. Love the set up.
I made one from the first video. I added sides, floor, carpet, and mounted a surge protector.
Oh and I raised mine up off the ground. Helps with it being too low.
Hello fellow iracer, hope to see you on track one day
Great video nice upgrade what is the pc case that u are using
Jeff: "Never had a problem with the screens wobbling while I use it"
Screens: W O B B LE
do some more vids about this topic i love this thinking of doing a rig of my own but cinda poor so cant get my hands on a car seat :P
Wtf 😂. Didnt know u were on iracing. Ive been using it for 7 years. We even have our own team haha. Send me a pm if u want some tips 😊
love the rig, but where is the seat-belt? haha excellent problem solving displayed here
Love the update and would definitely like to see some sim racing vids. Did you hear that V8 Supercars and the Australian touring car are both currently organising eRacing series for their drivers on iRacing. Would love to see some youtubers take on the pros in a ProAm type series.
Hey Jeff, if you haven`t yet you need to try VR mate its the best !!
Buuurrrrraaaappp... (the sound of me throwing my guts up ;) ).
Jeff, you could easily build your own Direct Drive wheel, get your hookup through Beano on the IR forums.
In what car is the shifter that high, ik your trying to make it more sim like but putting the shifter that high is only giving you a disadvantage.
Juz sub Jeff and your videos are useful.. someday I will built the rig based on your videos. Very helpful. Btw what size is your monitor? Thanks 😊
Love thé video. Maybe you should try to do a better cable management.
It would be great if you put your whole setup on a on wooden plate and then attach 4 small but wide springs near the center of sim rig and than attach it to another wood plate on the ground so your whole setup is not very stable . So when you play racing games the whole rig will move with your body and you will get something similar to motion seats!
Brilliant m8te!
You should add an e-brake so you can drift much easier
Fellow Aussie here, where would you recommend i look for a seat?
Nice work! Can you say the measures of each piece of the simulator? Thanks.
@Home Built By Jeff Have you thought about switching to a vr headset?
Build me one please. Does the seat move forwards and back?
Amazing rig. There is a new canvas behind you. Do you paint as well?
Yep
Kool 👍
Can us how how to connect all the screens
Would've been nice to see some gameplay at the end
Do you have measurements listed anywhere?
At the beginning i was confused, why you put the shifting gear on the "wrong" side ;)
I Love it! I will make the same setup. you've just earned a like and a sub :D
I don't have enough scrap wood on hand to build something like this, nor do I have a working car controller. But I DO have an old Sparco racing bucket in my garage that I bought used about twelve years ago. That will be the seat when/if I ever build a sim rig - provided my fat butt still fits in it.
Yes show us your racing
09:13 So it's the same paint box from three years ago. Just caught my eye never mind me
Hi Jeff. I recently built a simrig inspired by your first video. I let my imagination run wild on it and it is now way too big for my tiny house. I have a build vid up I'd love you to check out if you have the time.

iRacing is next level. You think you are the master on AC or others, but iRacing puts you back in your place ;)
Is that Thrustmaster TMX steering wheel?
yes
please tell me you have gameplay videos up!!
bravo! :)
Indeed, you get be a better racer if you race on the computer at home.
Hey Jeff, are you still using IRacing?
Yep
Next is the rollbar :-)
I like it haha
I'm subbing to ur channel Im going to make one of them
Great idea! I don't get why you didn't place the keyboard "shelf" to your left, and the shifter on your right. Could be easier getting in and out and would definitly make shifting gears feel more natural and realistic...
Not in Australia it wouldn't ;)
