years ago I started on a KTM Duke 125 and man I tell you these bikes are much more fascinating in person. The camera doesn't show how attractive they are in a showroom. Although I have a couple of superbikes now, I know one day I will get one of these superdukes.
Never would I thought of buying a v-twin after owning only Kawasaki big bore bikes since the 1980s. This bike is just perfect for country riding, not so impressed with it on the highway, but it not meant cruising at 160Kph. Love that low rpm grunt. 🇨🇦
Anyone that doesn't rate this bike extremely high does not like bikes. The looks, the tech, the engine, the character, the power, the weight, everything on this bike is spot on
Absolutely awesome Bob. Thank you. It was hard to tell whether you were talking quickly like a kid in a candy shop or just mindful of 10 minutes. Either way I loved it. 👍😎🇦🇺
I own this generation of SDR in black. It is perfect from 0-100mph, which is ideal for street riding. Cons? Some protection from the wind, like on the Tuono, would be my preference. The turn signal switch feels cheap. The US models get hideous turn signal indicators. None of these things are dealbreakers; the bike overall is superb as delivered.
I wish I was tall enough and had enough quid for this bike. 0 for 2. So I went for the 890 Duke as it fit the budget, and I could actually reach the ground. No regrets. Awesomest bike I’ve ridden yet. I’ll just admire the 1290 for now. Great review, mate! Cheers!
My friend just got one a week ago, just saw it tonight and, instantly fell in love. You dont know this bike until you see it irl hear it irl and ride it irl.. its just dropping balls
Hi mate, I just bought SuperDuke GT MY 2019 at last friday after 6 years dreaming and Im overhelmed with emotion even Im more a in-line 4 guy. This is so gooooood, dame goood. Beast from Hell. Everything works so good and feeling and stability is exceptional.
Excellent video, really enjoyed the review.... short, sweet and to the point. I’m hoping to get out on this bike next week once the rain ends as my local KTM dealer won’t let theirs out in the wet! Sensible I suppose with 180BHP!
@Pat McCaliskey The SF V4S is a very good bike but focused... you are always reminded that it wants to go faster (it is just must faster than the SDR) - unlike the SDR that is well mannered. The detail, fit and finish on the Ducati is very good. I am not very fond of the Aprilia looks - does not look lyk a hypernaked..
What was that fly screen all about? Not seen that before. It appeared on the screen a couple of times 1.47 and a bit later on. Is it a clip on/off thing, or does it slide upwards from the headlight? Or was it from KTM footage that you just used?
The looks still don't really do it for me, but otherwise what an awesome bike. I did have a ride of one mid last year. I probably should have worn some adult nappies , because well I almost pooped myself ! If I had a load of cash to make a custom bike ( I don't ) I would like to get a Super Duke R and make it "pretty" . The light would definitely be the first thing to go, the tank would be rounded off with the spikes going out front removed, and it'd be in red and black. (Red tank, black pretty much everywhere else )
So far great. I bought it to reduce wind noise because I’m doing so much motorway work picking up press bikes and I heard it was quiet. Certainly seems to do the trick combined with my noise cancelling headset and comfortable for a few hours at a time too
Two giant cyilindres means.... great sensations!!! The bike sd1290r is the Real King of incredible sensatons 🔥 👌 in good helps control electronics!!! Gretting from Spain!!!
I rode one last year. I thought it would be scary but it’s super easy to use. It’s the best bike I have ever ridden. Would never buy one though. Could never use even 50% of its performance. I’d probably be better off on a duke 390 😂
I have a cb1000r 2012 super quick bike but I can tell you the duke 1290 is other monster That thing pass me on the highway really fast I was 145 mph and that duke pass and least 180 mph
Hello Mate, I have a question If I May Ask. How Tall Are You? I am a short rider, so I am finding some types of motorcycles very challenging to ride on.
I tried all the models at the Excel show a few years ago and every one was uncomfortable to sit on which I found disappointing. I have a thin bony bottom mind ;) I can appreciate the engineering though.
That suspension though, looks like it's bucking you around like a wild donkey at 60 mph, I thought my Dyna was bad LOL. Looks like you gotta spend another $2,000 to $3,000 USD on a suspension upgrade to get that thing under control.
This can be a track bike, but it is a road bike bar none. I stretch its legs pretty much everyday and push its limits in the Colorado canyons 3 days a week. It destroys the 890.
@@motobob Just messing with you. Love the vid's. Great info of all the New bikes. With those tiny roads you ride, there is no way you can pull the trigger on a Duke R. Take care BE SAFE. See ya on the next one. Cheers👍👍👍
Why anyone would want to ride an 890 rather than a SuperDuke for road-only riding is beyond me. He really lost credibility. For dual sport of course, but road riding, no way in hell.
@@ikc4901 cute, but for real tho. He never reviews adventure and dual sports. Me being a klx 250 boy myself just wanna know the reason for the scarce adventure segment content. I wanna see someone review th new KLR 650.

All the torque and horsepower all by 9500 street rpm. I owned a 2016 and with a 2018 now. Best engine. Love seeing the whole engine. Never runs hot
“I’m not gonna say no am I?”.... My man 💪🏽
possibly the best review on 1290 Super Duke R
Cheers CP!

Such a beautiful bike that's mechanically made for the testosterone in every man

This still setting . . . all the green behind the bike plus your angle shots make for a truly lovely presentation.
I wouldn't say no either! KTM makes fun bikes, I even like their looks as well.
I own a 2020 KTM SDR and your impressions are spot on.

Agree.
I haven't ridden any other hyper naked, but of all the bikes I have ridden, this is by far the best.
You're so good with the presentation! You've earned yourself a subscriber there mate! Keep up the great work!

I think Ktm's been making tiny changes to their bikes over the years and along the way they went from ugly to kind of beautiful without me noticing
Same! Well... some of them.
Pretty drastic change between 2016 to 2017 and between 2019 and 2020 actually
I always liked how KTMs look.
Well said. I was thinking the same thing. I find myself asking myself “when did these bikes actually start becoming attractive???” Hahaha
The earlier bikes were funky and extreme. The newer ones are more refined. I have a 23 sdr evo and I love the looks and performance.
G'day Bob. That power, that torque. God help us.!!!! Super Duper bike.
One of the best bike journalists on UA-cam reviews one of the most fascinating bikes of our time. lllllike 👍
I have a 2015 1290 super duke, and this 2020 one is gorgeous but for the moment I still love mine 2015

Keep up the good work Bob! I'm going riding as well. 👍🏻
I rode mine down to the Pyrenees (ainsa northern spain) and back in September this year and it was an absolute breeze 2600 miles
I didn't think I needed a Super Duke R, then I rode one.
I literally swore quietly when I saw that single sided swingarm. Damn ain't she a beauty
It's not the beast, it is the super beast.... love from India
Rob Zombie would ride a huge custom chopper.
KTM is simply a thrilling machine
I’d definitely get it in black and trick it out with Carbon and an Austin exhaust….. Maybe one day 🤷🏻♂️
Black it is 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Real shame you didn't have any decent weather, absolutely love my '18 model and am promising myself a '20+ one in the next couple of of years.

Great, just what the world needs. Like 4 people in the world can handel that kind of horsepower.
that bike is ridiculous, love the bike and the vid.
I love my Aprilia Tuono V4 but for me, the SDR is the best looking super naked by a good margin.
Uh, I'll take that nasty old Tuono off your hands. I know, they're so embarrassing to ride you should most certainly give it to me!
I don’t own one but my mate has one and it’s a cracking bike. Will keep up with anything in an equally matched group.
Mate any plans on reviewing benelli models in future?

Pando moto has the BEST armored leggings. Or armoured, however you like
I see you are using beeline moto what's your opinion on it you should do a video on it
Really good - use it most rides. Video coming soon I hope
If you put enduro tires or even the dirt bike tires on it will it do good on trails like an actual enduro bike?
You should have a go on the GT. It takes this beast and makes it... practical.

SuperDuke R is a kind of bike I would love to ride but not buy it, but I will tell that I wish it should've been a bit more practical for me to buy.
