It works but will sound different as the MUs just like the QY70 uses the older set of samples. There's a MU90 version here on UA-cam. The strings bass is a lot different.
You did such a good job with this one, so clearly playing to the strengths of the format and drawing out that specific character. Thanks for sharing! Also was wondering, which player did you use for the midi note visuals? It looks cool 🙂
Great job. I like your music anyways but you always do a great job squeezing a lot of juice of the QY. I don't know if it's just nostalgia or because I like the music from the time period but I just seem to enjoy and get inspired much more from older gear like this than anything today. Everything new seems to feel too "lab sterile" in my opinion. Great content and looking forward to other uploads.
You can always add subtle modulation, saturation, noise, tame the highs with EQ, add oscillator drift, etc. to modern synths and sounds. For the lower-fidelity vibe, there are numerous ways to do it, you don't need "lo-fi" plugins. Plugins that reduce fidelity (unintentionally) are over-abundant, and then you can also just send the audio out through a low-end DAC/ADC chain, too, as a couple of examples.
@@Jason75913 You are totally right as good strategies, though, I mean not so much as a point to purposely be "lo-fi" sounding. It's a little more subtle than that. It's just the strange, highly individual, phenomenon where some gear's sound just "clicks" with a person.
@@kenzieprice6745 I'm aware of that, but I suspect it is more nostalgia or familiarity, or the lo-fi appeals to you more than you think, or simply placebo of sorts.
My QY100 was delivered two days ago. Are you only using the sounds or are you using the sequencer as well? I see that window in the lower right corner and I'm wondering what that is?
Most of the time I'm only using the sounds. However, for some live performances I'm also using the sequencer too. And the window in the bottom right is VanBascos Karaoke player. ;)
The QY100 only has 32 voices of polyphony and all those pads, bass and drums were using almost all of them so I only had few voices left for everything else.
and like any art, takes practice no one learned to speak and communicate their thoughts and emotions to those around them in a day, nor a week nor a month
20 years later and groove boxes is are still not as feature rich as this thing. Lots of odd limitations these days even though processing is orders of magnitude cheaper.

I guess it lacks some of the XG voices (e.g. the drum kits "HipHop" and "Jungle"). This is XG Level 3 which only a few devices were capable of (e.g. MU90 and later).
@@JayBmusic Oh, thanks for answering! Ok, i understand about drums, but I don't even have a distortion on the piano... And also, could you suggest the easiest way to get "level-3"?!)
I get a feeling of nostalgia seeing that VanBasco window on the lower right corner
круто. и некоторые инструменты XG обработаны до неузнаваемости
That's a cool visualization in the corner
This is beautiful dear brother. Stay awesome and blessed. 😊🌎❤️
Ok hold on how did I miss this ? UA-cam playing tricks on me again smh.
I’mma try this on my MU100R if you don’t mind ;)
Sure, that's why there is a MIDI download. ^^
Excellent QY-100 work here. Thanks!
Wow, you could have told me it was any keyboard or vsti and I would have believed you. 😄
Big thanks for MIDIs!
pretty cool
Wow !
Hey JayB - amazing track! That's the way how to use minimal equipment for big results 😎
dude this is a really great track. i wish it was on spotify
Thanks! Personally I thought it wasn't interesting enough to be released on Spotify. Maybe as an album track some day.
Beautiful
Nice seeing you branch out from trance and getting into the dnb scene :). Really nice track !. Hope there will be some synth wave in the future
A wonderful piece of music but I am going to be hunting for that kick on my QY100.
Lovely track - always amazed what these little devices can do. Thanks also to you for the QY100 Data Filer and firmware update on your website!
Amazing JayB, as always!! Check out my new Liquid track - Ardor "the Light" - ua-cam.com/video/sQPCIsb9UoQ/v-deo.html
Ну... тут лайк, по-любому!
The good thing is is that you can use this with an MU90 or later.
Also, the Hip Hop and Jungle kits sounded like DnB with a touch of Jungle.

Cooool! 👍

Thanks! The software for the MIDI notes is VanBasco Karaoke Player.
Neat! Thank you!

"especially due to polyphony limitations " What do you mean? by this. Thanks!

You got a really good bass tone out of it, do you remember what you were using?
You can actually see it. It's the synth strings patch. :)

@@JayBmusic Hi, I find, that "dsp1" is zero for all channels - this why no "dist" anywhere 🤷♂️
Distortion is assigned to the variation effect. Look for CC#94. And I don't know if the S700's XG implementation works the same.
