B P Not only heard of them but seen them both ‘Live’ and have all their albums. Both great players in the one style, but Gary Moore could play anything and everything. Gary’s ‘Feel’ on guitar remains unmatched and having seen him live a few times I can say he never hit a bum note and was every bit as good ‘Live’ as any of his studio recordings if not even better, this I cannot say about any other guitarist I’ve seen and I’ve seen many. Gary’s playing is the best, and by some margin too.
B P No they couldn’t I have everything they ever recorded, loved both of them, but they were not fluent virtuoso’s in all styles like Gary Moore, if you understood guitar you would know this without me telling you. You need to listen to their body of work and you will find no change throughout their careers. Gary Moore was on a much higher level even when playing the same notes. NOBODY in the history of guitar playing has the ‘feel’ like Gary Moore and I’ve seen them all. As the great Jim Marshall said “Gary was the finest guitarist to ever plug into my amps”. Gary Moore was the guitarist he listened to in his car, his home and whenever he was relaxing. This is not disrespecting SRV or Rory, I love both of them, have everything they recorded, seen them both, Rory many times, God I wore out his albums playing them. I also thing Riviera Paradise by SRV is one of the most beautiful guitar pieces ever, but neither could play like the great GARY MOORE he was the finest.
