Oh amd how to keep your mix from getting hard and climping is pretty easy. Make or buy a couple of those cloth tea bags and put rice in it it keeps your mixed from hard to soft and fluffy again.

This is the best French onion soup mix I’ve ever had! Thank you so much! I’ve converted to all of your gravy and soup mixes because I can’t have the gluten that’s in the pre made ones. These are by far, way cheaper and taste so much better! So long Lipton! 😂

I just made my second quadruple batch of mix. I now make the BEST pasta with meat sauce. I throw some in while I'm sauteeing the ground beef, and add all the traditional Italian seasonings. I love it, and I HATE Italian food,... lol. I'm Italian, go figure. PS.. mine never clumped without the arrowroot powder. I just don't open the jar over the stove/pot.

People who don’t use flour, as in low carb diets, use arrowroot as a substitute thickener. So, the addition of too much arrowroot will change the recipe.
Me too! We don't have onion soup mix that's the same as over in the US here so I'm often substituting in some way or another in recipes...it's great to be able to make batches from now on. 😊

I use celery seed in a lot of things. I really like to add it to coleslaw and potato salad. Right now celery is hard to come by and, although I have thrive life celery, I don’t want to crack into the can for just a small amount. I will be soon, though.
Great video Leisa. I make up something similar because the sodium count on the ones you buy is so high. Even with using home made beef broth turned into bullion, you still need a bit of salt but lots less. And you have to freeze the beef bullion even after you dehydrate it. The flavor is wonderful though.

I went looking to find a beef bouillon without MSG. Even organic broths and bouillon have garbage ingredients. Check out Clean Monday brand. That's the only one I could find without gluten and MSG.

I tried to find where to buy the Thrive Life foods you are using and no site came up. Can you please send me the link so I can buy some when I get back home to FL. Spices cost a mint here in Canada so I want to get some to bring back with me next year. We are salt conscious and when I made the Mississippi pot roast I found that using the « envelopes » the recipe called for was way too salty so I used much less but I am very interested in making my own. Copied your recipe for me IPad cook book, now to buy the beef powder and they probably have chicken and vegetable too!

I also use the Better Than Bouillon (all flavors), I just love them. But I have also learned that the dry bouillon from Knorr is great to keep on hand for making these dry mixes. For a dry Bouillon, the Knorr brand works really well.
It would be helpful if the cost could be broken down. Purchasing dehydrated food is not cheap. I'm not disagreeing with what is charged for dehydrated products because it is a good product to have and there are people that just don't have the time to do their own. I did have someone tell me that she really didn't save a lot making this with purchasing the dehydrated food so I'm curious as to what it actually comes down to. Obviously the cost of purchasing dehydrated food varies according to the brand (as well as quality of said food). Thank you.

I have the same question....I never buy the packets so don’t know how much water is used with them. I’ve really only used the packets to make onion dip, a very long time ago.

Such a huge favor to ask... does anyone know how to make this by the serving instead of to store it in a batch? I have liquid "better than bouillon" so that won't work for this and I'm hoping to sub onion soup mix in a recipe I have to make next week! Any help is greatly appreciated 💖
What is you dehydrated the Better than Boullion? Then you could make the mix.
I also use the Better Than Bouillon (all flavors), I just love them. But I have also learned that the dry bouillon from Knorr is great to keep on hand for making these dry mixes. For a dry Bouillon, the Knorr brand works really well.
You mentioned you can use Arrowroot to help prevent clumping, but never said how much to use.

It will clump up after a few months. But I don't make it in bulk so I rarely experience it

3/4 c was for the minced onion. The bullion is 1/3 c.
It would be helpful if the cost could be broken down. Purchasing dehydrated food is not cheap. I'm not disagreeing with what is charged for dehydrated products because it is a good product to have and there are people that just don't have the time to do their own.
I did have someone tell me that she really didn't save a lot making this with purchasing the dehydrated food so I'm curious as to what it actually comes down to. Obviously the cost of purchasing dehydrated food varies according to the brand (as well as quality of said food).
