So yummy!!! I love this stuff!!
Another tip - don't open your jars over the stove to season your food with. That moisture gets into the powders quickly!

Oh amd how to keep your mix from getting hard and climping is pretty easy. Make or buy a couple of those cloth tea bags and put rice in it it keeps your mixed from hard to soft and fluffy again.

Oh my lands! Leisa, I made this recipe and keep it in a mason jar in the deep freezer. I just canned 10 lbs of hamburger and used this to go over it, like @Thekneadyhomesteader did! This is the best French onion soup mix I’ve ever had! Thank you so much! I’ve converted to all of your gravy and soup mixes because I can’t have the gluten that’s in the pre made ones. These are by far, way cheaper and taste so much better! So long Lipton! 😂

I just made my second quadruple batch of mix. I now make the BEST pasta with meat sauce. I throw some in while I'm sauteeing the ground beef, and add all the traditional Italian seasonings. I love it, and I HATE Italian food,... lol. I'm Italian, go figure.
PS.. mine never clumped without the arrowroot powder. I just don't open the jar over the stove/pot.

pasta sauce you say? I make the following twice a year or more. The recipe is based on being used once a week, a rate which uses up all of it in under 6 months, so it stays 'fresh' but can also easily be made in bulk.
      This is my latest variation.
      ::Dry Pasta Sauce Recipe:: 2022-05-28
      Tomato base
      makes 5.5 cups (22 servings)
      1 Cup Cornstarch
      4 Tablespoon table Salt
      1 Tablespoon + 1 Teaspoon MSG
      5 Table + 1 Teaspoon Sugar
      1 Table + 1 Teaspoon Celery Seed
      3 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
      2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
      2 Tablespoon Basil
      2 Teaspoon Sweet Basil
      2 Tablespoon Oregano
      2 Tablespoon Marjoram
      1 Tablespoon Sage
      1 Tablespoon + 2 Teaspoon Rosemary
      1/2 Tablespoon Thyme
1/2 Cup Crushed Sweet Pepper Flakes
      2 Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper
      1 Cup Minced Dried Onion
      2 Teaspoon Onion Powder
      1 Cup Dried Parsley Flakes
      3 Tablespoon Mushroom Powder
      3 Tablespoon Beef Bouillon
1 Teaspoon Fresh Ground Black Pepper
      How to use... with paste
Suggested amount based on 1 pound dry pasta
      6oz Tomato Paste
      1 3/4 Cup Water
1/4 Cup of Spaghetti Sauce Mix
      Simmer for 15 minutes
      How to use... with powder
Suggested amount based on 1 pound dry pasta
      6 TBSP Tomato powder
      2 Cup + 2 Tablespoons of Water (500ml)
1/4 Cup of Spaghetti Sauce Mix (4 TBSP)
      Simmer for 15 minutes

People who don’t use flour, as in low carb diets, use arrowroot as a substitute thickener. So, the addition of too much arrowroot will change the recipe.

The problem with Arrowroot, (yes , I use it) is that it can make the flavor a lot sweeter.

Great video Leisa. I make up something similar because the sodium count on the ones you buy is so high. Even with using home made beef broth turned into bullion, you still need a bit of salt but lots less. And you have to freeze the beef bullion even after you dehydrate it. The flavor is wonderful though.

Dehydrated onions indefinitely if stored properly. Onion powder will clump after a short time

No, you would need a low sodium bullion then.

I tried to find where to buy the Thrive Life foods you are using and no site came up. Can you please send me the link so I can buy some when I get back home to FL. Spices cost a mint here in Canada so I want to get some to bring back with me next year. We are salt conscious and when I made the Mississippi pot roast I found that using the « envelopes » the recipe called for was way too salty so I used much less but I am very interested in making my own. Copied your recipe for me IPad cook book, now to buy the beef powder and they probably have chicken and vegetable too!

I also use the Better Than Bouillon (all flavors), I just love them. But I have also learned that the dry bouillon from Knorr is great to keep on hand for making these dry mixes. For a dry Bouillon, the Knorr brand works really well.

It would be helpful if the cost could be broken down. Purchasing dehydrated food is not cheap. I'm not disagreeing with what is charged for dehydrated products because it is a good product to have and there are people that just don't have the time to do their own.
I did have someone tell me that she really didn't save a lot making this with purchasing the dehydrated food so I'm curious as to what it actually comes down to. Obviously the cost of purchasing dehydrated food varies according to the brand (as well as quality of said food).
    Thank you.

I save a lot of money by buying vegetables in season, bulk and on sale. I dehydrate because I want to make the most of the savings. Mrs V of One Half Acre Homestead, shows you how and when to buy cheap produce to can or dehydrate.
