Professor Wolf, please remind your viewers that Puerto Rico has suffered the same fate as Sri Lanka. The Puerto Rican government borrowed money (public bonds), wasted the money on no-bid contracts and corruption, and then it defaulted on its bond debts. The consequence was massive cuts to public services for the Puerto Rican people.

They also did it all with the help of the United States. We all remember when US corporations based in Puerto Rico paid no federal income tax. Life seemed good for Puerto Ricans, until that tax break was taken away, but since the rich Americans always find a way to enrich themselves, even if it's morally and ethically bankrupt, they will grab the opportunity, and that's what's happening now.

She's incredibly articulate. I part from her regarding the Democratic Party. I see no utility in continuing to organize within its ranks. The progressives who have been elected in recent years all sold out. All the party does is fund-raise and give lip service to progressive values. We need a mass movement of civil disobedience bolstered by trade unionism and third-party electoral activity.

Exactly! The elites' movement toward total technocratic control, in the form of social media censorship, massive collection of personal data, dissemination of propaganda, and so on, continues at a rapid pace. If we pause to fiddle with the Democratic Party the opportunity to act effectively will be gone, I believe. The best approach at this point is massive sustained demonstrations of civil disobedience, preferably remaining as nonviolent as the powers that be will allow.

Are you fine with Republicans taking away the right to contraception, gay marriage, making unions illegal? Are you fine with them keeping weed illegal? Dems have a bill in the senate to legalize it. Dems have a bill in the senate called the PRO Act that would enshrine the right to unionize and make it easier to form one without fear of retaliation from your employer. They can't pass it because they need 52 senators instead of 50. There are some democrats who are basically Republicans, but only like 2 of the dem senators were against raising the minimum wage, providing guaranteed paid family leave, fighting climate change, lowering drug prices. I really really don't get why people are fine with letting Republicans win even after they've taken rights away and shown us they hate workers. You KNOW a 3rd party will never win. 3rd parties are not even on the ballot in all 50 states. If you don't know they can't win, you're way too online and need to touch grass. Most voters will never vote for a 3rd party, but many times we've had people vote for democrats that actually support Medicare for All and other good things. Saying you're done with democrats is resigning yourself to a christian fascist hellscape and to tell anyone that's not what you're doing is a bold-faced lie.
We need protests, demonstrations, riots, unionization, and strikes. We also need to vote democrat so that republicans don't take these rights away from us like Ron Desantis has already started doing in Florida.

Even though I think Marianne is one of the greatest thinkers of our time, I must disagree with her on one thing. She has identified what the democratic party no longer is, she's layed out the problems and has told us where the party is today. She has explained the consequences of working within the democratic party, and how it derails progressive action. I agree with every bit of that. But then she says that the democratic party can be corrected. I absolutely, whole heartedly do not believe an ounce of that idea. It's actually ridiculous to think that. The democratic party is completely owned, there's no way out. Furthermore, for many progressives, just the thought of the democratic party elicits such a vile disgust that the unwillingness to try to reform the party is too overwhelming for it to happen.

The biggest problem I observe is that when delivering a message hardly ever the root of the problem is identified. The wealthy class is the one corrupting government and paying for the political system to work in their behalf. The political front parties and figures are only the expendable puppets of the puppeteers . Those puppeteers are never being made accountable. And never mentioned specifically as the source of the problems. This is class warfare not an establishment political game. The people doesn't comprehend the language of the left because the left needs to give a message with a proper language to be understood. A consistent language with a specific message.

Marianne is omitting major destructive American forces such as maniacal religion and blind patriotism in her calculations. It's not just about neoliberal policies (she should have defined that term, because even political scientists don't agree on it.) U.S. decline is also a function of hyper-religiosity foisted by the few on the majority of the South and Midwest. This religiosity offers an escape hatch to solving problems, because rather than blaming problems on specific, conscious policy decisions, the 'true believers" can instead attribute those decisions to a "lack of godliness." It's simplistic thinking, and that is what religion aims to promote.
Along these lines, blind patriotism (often a function of low education and hyper-religiosity) has enabled the ratcheting up of the U.S. Department of Defense budgets such that in 2023, we will spend 75% of our discretionary budget (well over $1 trillion) on the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is criminal. But Americans allow it because they are the most brainwashed developed nation on Earth, and the vast majority of the U.S. population believes that if you oppose the military, you're not a patriot.
Marianne has spent far too long parroting the "neoliberal" line. Religion and patriotism are enabling horrible decision-making among the political elites, and the recent Supreme Court decisions about public prayer in Washington State and tax dollars being used to fund explicitly religious schools in Maine foretell and even greater dumbing down of the American population. Once we reach that threshold of stupidity from which there is no return, the elites can finally create the New Slave Class they have been aiming for since Ronald Reagan.
Marianne and Richard miss all of this analysis, and it's because neither of them is formally trained in how to think about government, governmental budgets, comparative politics, political psychology, or religion and patriotism. Their thinking has not evolved in years----mostly because they never have anyone on their respective platforms to politely challenge them and enhance their political growth. This is a wash-rinse-repeat approach, and it offers very little to the audience.

You are the special grand jury
I am accusing every candidate endorsed by our Democratic Party and every public official who identifies as a Democrat of being guilty of misprision of a felony. But this only applies if you have not spoken up against the US Supreme Court’s failure to order the US Attorney of New York to empanel a special grand jury.
This is a crime when public officials, who have a higher duty than individual citizens, to insure the law is faithfully executed by intentionally refusing to insure the case against the accused is judged in court and guilt is or not determined, or if obstruction of justice or a cover up occurred during investigation of the evidence.
The reason for this is that every US citizen has a duty to insure alleged crimes are investigated and a grand jury hears the evidence and a vote to indict the alleged criminal(s). Regarding the incident wherein over 3,000 people were murdered on 9/11, the evidence does not show who the suspects/criminals were, but it does prove the people who submitted National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST) to congress lied. Additionally, the 9/11 Commission Report is also full of lies, so those who served on this commission share part of the guilt for those lies.
And third the ethics of all structural engineers requires each one of them to speak up (American Society of Civil Engineers) when science disagrees with alleged structural failures (collapses) of buildings.
    www.lawyerscommitteefor9-11inquiry.org/
In this url/link you can hear the video tape statement by New York Fire Department Captain Richard Patterson. And he alleges that there were men with rifles and they prevented him and another fire department supervisor from entering World Trade Center building seven. These armed men’s act was illegal because the fire department cannot be legally ordered/prevented from attempting to put out a building fire.
Question: Who ordered these men with rifles?
The group Lawyer’s Committee for 9/11 Inquiry submitted their case to the US Supreme Court and this court refused to order the empanelling of a special grand jury.
Therefore I am accusing every candidate endorsed by our Democratic Party and every public official who identifies as a Democrat, and every leaders of every Washington State legislative district and County of being guilty of misprision of a felony.
I claim our elected public officials and candidates do not understand the lies that have been told in the NIST and 9/11 Commission reports as explained in the link to the video lecture
3, 641 architects and engineers also say NIST lied. Of course you may not have an engineering degree. Neither do I. I understand the lies as they were pointed out in the videos/lecture. Some 320 skilled commercial and military pilots (Pilots for 9/11 Truth) have also said they believe the NIST and 9/11 Commission reports are full of lies regarding the airplanes.

WHEREAS 3, 641 architects and engineers (AE911truth.org), and some 320 skilled commercial of military pilots (Pilots for 9/11 Truth), are saying that there is scientific irrefutably evidence proving that the TOTAL collapse of the World Trade Center buildings on September 11, 2001 were destroyed by explosives and incendiaries and not ONLY due to fire and airplanes,
WHEREAS never before nor after 9/11 has any steel high rise building totally or party collapsed only due to office fires having all its concrete floors turn to sand or dust,
WHEREAS Dr. David Ray Griffin lists included over 100 lies or omissions in the official 9/11 Commission report. This article is an excellent summary/companion to Dr. Griffin's newest book, The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions,
WHEREAS Dr. Leroy Hulsey and his PhD students concluded in their four-year study of the collapse of WTC7, that this steel high rise building did not collapse due to fire,
WHEREAS the Lawyers Committee for 9/11 Inquiry submitted direct evidence to the US Justice Department and they refused to empanel a special grand jury, therefore US Attorney for the South District of New York is guilty of misprision of a felony regarding this 9/11 crime,
WHEREAS after the US Court of Appeals failed to order the US Attorney to empanel a special grand jury, and the US Supreme Court refused to hear and overturning the Court of Appeals refusing to order the US Attorney to empanel a special grand jury,
WHEREAS Susan Lindauer was indicted on March 11, 2004 and jailed from Oct. 2005 until Sept. 2006, (2.5 years). All total she was under indictment for four years and some eleven months without a trial. On January 16, 2009, the US Justice Department decided to not continue with her saying it would no longer be in the interests of justice,
WHEREAS after 9/11, only 40 percent of the Democratic caucus in Congress were in favor of authorizing Bush’s war against Iraq,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED we demand the FBI investigate why there are so many lies in the National Institute of Standards and Technology report and the 9/11 Commission report.

Like a true politician, Williamson will acknowledge the plight of the working class and poor but offers no system solution to Capitalism. For real system change there needs to be a new system.

While I do like many of her answers, she seems to have an infantile understanding of class consciousness at best.

Well she’s a multimillionaire who wants political power so there’s that.

The basic law of physics. What ever moves, it has direction, and that applies to capitalism too. From George Washington to Joe Biden, the direction of capitalism has been to talk about Democracy but never there has been democracy. So getting to democracy within capitalism is just a dream that never will materialize.
The understanding of "non-violent" move to achieve democratic life is another dream.
Capitalism will not allow change of direction, unless a stronger force to topple current system. again we need force to change direction of movement. It is physics 101.
