    Hey Clint,
    Awesome video! I just subscribed. I love the simple and honest information you shared. I live in upstate NY, I’m only a 30 minute drive from PA Public land and I traveled to OH last year for my first real out of state hunt. I was fortunate enough to harvest a nice 8-pt mtn. Gun buck in PA, but have yet to score an out of state archery buck. Last year I also started my own YT channel, WhiteTALES Deer Hunting, and realize every day how much I still need to learn about whitetail deer hunting. Looking forward to watching more of your great videos. Curt

    Good video. Honestly it was a little too good, cause now I'm wishing it was late October already. I love DIY public land hunts. All the planning and logistics is my favorite aspect of it.

    Checking in from Pittsburgh. Love your podcasts, never miss an episode. Ive been hunting public land in Ohio. Have had some great trail camera pictures but not many sightings from the stand. Shot a nice buck in shotgun season last year on a new piece. Thinking about a hunting club or lease next year. All my hunting experience has been on high pressure deer, about ready to pay for something low pressure with better age class

      @truthfromthestand9994  4 роки тому +1

      Bradford Bobnar thanks for the support! I hear ya about the pressure. Just gotta keep grinding. I like to try to hunt where I have a few pieces within driving distance when I travel so I can bounce based on the pressure and opportunity on each piece.

    This will be the 3rd year heading out of state this year and we've had a really similar process so far. We aren't always as good about premaking food though and essentially lived off of McChickens in Nebraska last year.

      Premaking meals is key. Saves me time and $$...not to mention I feel better and have more energy.

    Planning and setting up these hunts is so addictive, I enjoy that part as much as the hunt itself! I’m from Massachusetts so everywhere is a lil haul but I never miss my western New York and Ohio trips... what week are you doing Ohio this year ? I’m usually there from like the 5th to 12th but this year I’m hitting southern Ohio November 13th to 23rd !

    Clint, great video man and I love the podcast as well. The past 5 years I lived in the D.C. area and hunted a few urban private spots in Maryland, right around D.C... Monster bucks btw. Well, I have property in Arkansas but moved to Texas last year. The drive to Arkansas is about 5 hours so I can't get there as much as I'd like and it's basically public with all the gun hunters around.. Well, I really want to get to Maryland this year for a few days and get on those studs. Problem is, it's over 20 hours driving. I'm thinking of flying there and renting a truck to transport the deer to the butcher (donate) and then flying back. I wouldn't have a problem finding friends to crash with while I'm there.. I haven't worked out the taxidermist part yet and getting the mount back.... But driving and losing two days isn't an option. Any thoughts ?

    • @truthfromthestand9994
      @truthfromthestand9994  4 роки тому +1

      TheMMallett I always prefer to drive. The cost of flying all my gear is probably worth taking two additional days off. Traveling that far I want to have what I need and not have to make gear choices based on luggage weight. As far as hunting Maryland, it’s a place that’s on my list since it’s just a few hours away. @urbanbowman hunts the burbs near DC. You might want to check him out. Good luck and keep me posted on your success!

    Hey Clint. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting drawn for Iowa this year. I had a few questions for you about post recovery and what to do if you would want to mount the buck you shot. Let me know if you can help. Thanks

    Those are some really interesting viewpoints a lot of us do not consider. We have some really good hot spots for deer and turkey hunting on public or otherwise, here in Kentucky. Don't totally rule out other out of state options, trifarmhuntingandoutdoors.com.

    in illinois , public land should be restricted to resident citizens only . it's hard enough to get access to hunting ground . those that have lived here all their lives should reap the rewards of what they invested in . out of staters tend to shoot anything with antlers . ruin the state where you live , and come here to do the same .
