Seems like these speakers may have done that for you, or at least that’s impression I got from the review.
Thinking of replacing my current setup with these for a small/medium sized room. Would you recommend going with The 6 throughout or The 10 for the LCR and The 6 for surrounds and rears? I could perhaps add 10s to replace surrounds with them in the future as well. Which combination would you have preferred. The 6 throughout, 10 throughout or the way you currently have them setup?
Hi Shane, I enjoyed the video. This, on wall mid/high + sub setup is similar to the Steinway Lyngdorf/Lyngdorf Audio’s philosophy. One difference is the Lyngdorf sub placement (dual opposing subs in the front corner, at 45 degrees - or subs facing the front walls). I currently own a Lyngdorf system with traditional floor standing speakers and a single sub, thus I am unable to benefit from all of their system advantages. I would be curious if you were try placing your subs towards the front wall. Take care.
Shane, Great watching your journey to perfection. What drew me to M&K S150s 20 years ago was their great reproduction of audio for movies...and the bass. I recently added their on wall MP-150s. They’re a minor annoyance if your not constantly moving them around. I bought a second set of cables to run for other speakers I’ll have in for review so I don’t need to unplug the Ascendos.
Several months later, my Ascendo speakers are installed. My installer used VESA mounts on the LCR and the 6’s are in an enclosure mounted in the walls. The Phoenix connector was not a factor as I thought it would be. To say these are phenomenal is an understatement. Very happy with them

Hey Shane! Canadian David from Mexico here. I have a quick question for you, how would this system sound adding 2 REL subs one to the full range center, the other to the back rear full range speakers? Keep up with the excellent videos I'm a huge fan, and thank you.
Hey Shane - nice review as always. You were quiet about the Subs, any reason for this? I am assuming you are waiting for infrasonic woofer to complete the setup before passing judgement?
How often do you actually want to change your speakers? Without an acoustic concept you won't get a better result. I still don't understand why you removed the very good B&W Ct700 speakers.
You should try Hamrammr. Their 12 or 8 imersive, is constructed withe the same principles as the Ascendos, but dig deeper. I think the 12 starts rolloff at 50hz. They also have very high sensitivity, sound great (heard them at a show i norway). 😊

I will sell the R11, R2C, R3's as the R11 & R3 are crossed over at 100hz in my room for best bass response at main listening position. My logic on the R6 is same drivers as the R11 but without the ported towers taking over the room. The R6 Tweeter, Mid & Bass drivers are identical to those found in the new R Meta series just lacking 2 bass drivers. Based on the specs the R6 should be awesome down to 80hz and let the subs do the rest. No ports to worry about and sealed cabinet should allow better positioning in my room. The last plus is the R6 should be a significant upgrade over the R2C. Have you heard any of the above yet? Kefs positioning of the R6 as a bed-layer speakers is something missed by the few people talking about the new R Metas.

Thank you Shane. I have just sold my M&K S150 Mk2 speakers because I need "More" in my large room. I'm a bit surprised and query the crossovers being set at 100Hz. Do you start to experience localisation at that point? What most interests me with this brand is the precision and detailed articulation people describe. Too often the focus of power, volume, bass etc is the focus of reviews and the loss of the subtle detail isn't mentioned. A demo I like to use is Bladerunner 2049 (UHD) opening scene - fly over, then the boiling pot and creaking floor/walking to assess detail.
@therealshanelee I'm looking into them along with a couple others to replace my current speakers in my 7ch HT. Any chance for a follow-up video of pro/con, setup requirements such as needed EQing, over all SQ and satisfaction?
If these dug a bit lower they would be ideal. Id be worried about crossing over at 100hz. Id think youd start to hear where the subwoofers are located.
I was worried about that too but couldn’t tell where the subs were located. I suppose if you didn’t calibrate and align the subs properly it could be an issue.
What ?.. I believe Shane will regret to not be handy because you can EASY made a DIY 10" coaxial speaker with a 10" Eminence coax driver, per example, at les than ( from memorie)$250. If they were a beautiful cabinet and active with a 300w plate amp, OK... but like the B&W 15 passive sub + 1000w power amp at around $3400 together, some product are very overpriced.. that's sound you spend $1000 for the cabinet ONLY... Does anyone know the dimensions of Shane’s room? I’ve always wondered.
8:42 - “Crispiness” !!! 🤣😂😆
Hey Shane, great review. I was really waiting for this one. Quick question, in the end which ones did you end up leaving for the LCR, the 6s or the 10s? And why?
10's are behind the screen. The wedges that are used as wides will go up top for 6 heights. The 6's will move to wides.
@@therealshanelee this is very unclear in the video. The video makes it sound like you have 6's all around the bed layer. 😊
@@HomeCinemaJunkie you are correct. In the video 6’s all around. I didn’t discuss what the final layout would be in the video.
Hey shane , i have a question … looking from just the sound and bass which are better , these 6” drives or the the klipsch rp-ii in a 7.2.4 bts system (please ignore the price difference ) or the jtr 110s are better? Thank you
Depends on space but I’d pick these.
Hi, thank you very much for the great video.
Maybe you can help me out:
I'm also planning the Ascendo for my home theater.
The room is only 4,71m (L) x 3,65m (W) x 2,85 (H).
Which Ascendo would you recommend?
Is “the 6” enough as an LCR or would you take “the 10” ?
Of course there are 1-2 subs.
And would you use “the 6” as the rear, or would “the 5” be enough?
Are “the 6” actually suitable as heights, or are “the 6edge” recommended?
And how did you mount the Ascendo LCR behind the screen?
Did you mount the speakers "in-wall" or do you use a motorized screen?
Thank you very much in advance.
All 6s will work fine in your space.
Ok thx! Dou you have the LCR-Speakers as "on-wall" beside the screen or "in-wall" behind the screen?
Maybe the Elipson Infinite Speakers are interesting for you.@@therealshanelee
I would like to hear a comparison of Ascendo versus JTR speakers. Hearing reviews from both the top speakers, I would like to hear who would be on top. I know Ascendo has bigger speakers than JTR but maybe JTR has better speakers and of course the room has everything to do with it
No such thing what's better. It's only better to you. Everyone has different tastes.
@@therealshanelee thanks for the reply. So, if what you say is true, then your whole video blog is just for you and nobody else?
@@inlandchris1 every video where you see someone's giving their personal take on the sound quality of a speaker is their opinion. You either agree with it or you don't. It's up to you to make that informed decision.
@@therealshanelee thats correct but I still want to know your opinion about the differences between Ascendo and JTR
Hi bro based on your past with dali speakers, how about these epicon series if im using for HT speakers?
Dali makes great speakers. I love the dual tweeter design. They're super detailed.
Great review!
Pardon my ignorance... Is the tweeter a soft dome or compression driver? I understand they are a "coaxial" speaker, but I am not sure what the tweeter is made of. I believe I heard you mention soft dome in your review. Thank you in advance.
Good catch. They remind me of the dynaudio esotar 3 tweeter so it's been on my mind.
@@therealshanelee Good deal. Thank you for the clarification. I've been looking closely at both those and the Arendal 1723's, but it sounds like the Ascendo might be the better option for dynamics.
For clarification: The 6's have coaxial soft dome compared to the 10's, 12's and 15's which have a coaxial compression driver.
@@HomeCinemaJunkie Good deal. That is interesting to know they are using two different kinds. I appreciate the information.
I've reached out to them for clarification. I'm being told different things now. Standby.
Hey Shane, How Everything Is Good With And Family And Everything, I'm Just Trying To Figure Out These Speakers 🔊 I Should Get Between, Focal, Klipsch, Svs Or Kefs ???? I Believe 👀 You've Probably Heard Them All, I'm Trying To Get The Best Outta The Bunch, For Music, HOME THEATER 🎥 And So On????
I believe one of your recent videos mentioned you were planning a full R4b setup, using 15 speakers. Curious why you abandoned that in favor of Ascendo? Did something happen or did you compare and liked Ascendo better? Thanks man, nice work!
I don't recall that. Maybe I was drinking during that chat.
Hi, Shane. Thanks for the video. This home theater game is an addiction ain't it? At times it seems like I spend equal time tweaking the setup and watching. 😂
Curious to know your listening level when watching Gravity? The subs do a great job of accenting the tools and simple things like when she's 😊turning knobs out of space. Same type of deep sound as if listening under water.
Depends how loud it's mixed, how my calibration came out and when my ears feel the most comfortable.
Hey Shane! Canadian David from Mexico here. I have a quick question for you, how would this system sound adding 2 REL subs one to the full range center, the other to the back rear full range speakers? Keep up with the excellent videos I'm a huge fan, and thank you.
Yes it'd work.
I’m so curious about the volume level you’re at when you’re getting all the ambient sounds in a movie. How far from reference are you?
i was wonder that to
Hey Shane - nice review as always. You were quiet about the Subs, any reason for this? I am assuming you are waiting for infrasonic woofer to complete the setup before passing judgement?
ua-cam.com/video/RhiqHe-EMtM/v-deo.html
What app is that u r using for movies?
How often do you actually want to change your speakers? Without an acoustic concept you won't get a better result. I still don't understand why you removed the very good B&W Ct700 speakers.
You should try Hamrammr.
Their 12 or 8 imersive, is constructed withe the same principles as the Ascendos, but dig deeper. I think the 12 starts rolloff at 50hz. They also have very high sensitivity, sound great (heard them at a show i norway).
😊
They look good, although quite big?
@@Techdiscussed
They are not that big really, but it all comes down to what you compare too...they are not bookshelves, but much smaller than my towers.
Are these speakers only available in the EU market?
You can get them in the US also.
Could you review powersound audio?
It’s been done.
What happened to the MC257?
Still in the rack.
Please hurry with Goldenear T66 review !
These or the Procellas for movies only?
These.
how are they on 2.2 channel for music?
I personally wouldn’t use them for music.
@@therealshanelee Thanks for the reply Shane. I am considering upgrading my bed layer to 5 x Kef R6 Meta. Already have KEF Non Meta R11, R2C, R3 & 2 x Arendal 1723 1s subs and Denon AVC-A1H.
How much is enough?
Shane , what is your 13 bed layer that you set in Trinnov.
I have a Trinnov coming and currently with a 7.2.4 system but have always dreamed of more bed layers especially how the Trinnov let’s to configure to what ever you want. Curious about your bed layer arrangement.
Where do you buy these in the US?
Havensmart
how do i buy these speakers
Depends where you're located.
Dont get me wrong, but: 13x Ascendo LS (15-20 t€), Trinnov 16 or 32 (another 15-20 t€). Amplifier 1-2 (10 - 15 t€) and so on… This cinema or test is only for 2% affordable :-) But nice…
I set the crossovers from looking at the room measurements.
Hey shane how are you long time bro i will email to ask you a few things thanks and very nice review 🤝
Shane, you still running these?
Yep
@therealshanelee I'm looking into them along with a couple others to replace my current speakers in my 7ch HT.
Any chance for a follow-up video of pro/con, setup requirements such as needed EQing, over all SQ and satisfaction?
If these dug a bit lower they would be ideal. Id be worried about crossing over at 100hz. Id think youd start to hear where the subwoofers are located.
I was worried about that too but couldn’t tell where the subs were located. I suppose if you didn’t calibrate and align the subs properly it could be an issue.
Dont shave your speaker wires down - crimp them into pins or smaller tag lines.
ua-cam.com/video/PS_Lfi4GBvE/v-deo.html
I'll buy the Klipsch Thx-6000 LCR instead, there's not much difference between them, both are made for movies
Nice, but i dt think there is a Perfect Speaker. It's jus the person ears. U might not like what i like and vice verse. But AWEsome review...
“That Guy from THE ROCK” (??!!). That would be veteran actor ED HARRIS.

KEF .
What ?.. I believe Shane will regret to not be handy because you can EASY made a DIY 10" coaxial speaker with a 10" Eminence coax driver, per example, at les than ( from memorie)$250. INSTEAD spending $2200 for the same industrial look (you can made yourself), he just have... $2200 for Ascendo a waste of money. If they were a beautiful cabinet and active with a 300w plate amp, OK... but like the B&W 15 passive sub + 1000w power amp at around $3400 together, some product are very overpriced.. that's sound you spend $1000 for the cabinet ONLY... I have no respect for industrial overpriced minimalist speakers ( i drivers here ) an average andy person can duplicate with a minimum of tools.. but I, am jealous of all the gear Shane have 😮😶😶😶
Or get JTR 110HT for half the price and it seems they use the same driver as i have in my JTR :)
And subwoofer
Stop that different camera angle thing. It’s lame
Stop bitchin Karen, and go make your own damn vids.
Nice iv recently have had the idea to do something similar to my area I'm just stuck on witcĥ brand
You can always go the Ascendo route.
