I also have a similar recipe to this now that ive started keto. 1/2 cup hot water to the sugar free jello , add 4oz cream cheese, 1 container whip cream and Strawberries. Mix it all in a large bowl with a mixer and put in pie dish. Only takes 30min to set firm.
Jim, what an awesome idea to combine strawberry Jello and Cool Whip with fresh strawberries! I'm not big on desserts either. I've made only two in videos. But this one is awesome, and it could easily be made lower in carbs by changing the crust a bit. I love this! I'm saving it to my favorites! Thanks for sharing a great recipe!
I make this pie but I don't put the water in it. I chop up the strawberries fine with my chopper. Add the dry jello and cool whip and put it in the shortbread crust, better than the graham cracker crust to be sure. I save out a cpl strawberries for decoration purposes but the rest of the berries go into the pie (a whole quart). After it is chilled it slices beautifully. It can be made sugar free too. Great way to use a quart of strawberries to be sure.
You can’t go by the Jell-O directions exactly. Use 2/3 boiling water to dissolve Jell-O then add the cup of cold water to cool and set. This will make just enough for the crust
I'll be cranking this one this coming Sunday when my grandson and his family comes over! Looks really good. May try them in the small individual tins also for individual servings. Nothing better than licking the mixing bowel!
I've been making this since the early "70s. Here's the variations I've come up with accidentally or to satisfy my friend's tastes: Try frozen berries to cool the jello, and for a pretty, artsy, marbled effect, let the jello get a little gloppy before GENTLY adding the whipped cream. Serve frozen in cupcake papers or mini crusts for a hot summer treat. Use other flavors of jello, crust, and fruit for variety and personal preference. Make it a little richer by adding a 3 oz. square of room temp cream cheese to hot jello and stirring until dissolved. Make it healthier with Greek Yogurt instead of whipped cream. I have a vegan friend who tasted it to be polite and is now experimenting with nut cheese and nut butters. Everybody have fun trying and sharing these .
@ 00:25 Recipe calls for graham cracker crust. The best recipe for graham cracker crust I have tasted is from America's Test Kitchen; track the recipe down. Well worth the effort. One needs to use graham crackers made with molasses, _not_ honey. Absolutely delicious.
Here’s a yummy version, 1 pkg room temp cream cheese, add your strawberry or your fav flavor jello into large bowl and add just the hot water to dissolve, set aside to cool to room temp. Whip the cream cheese and the cool jello until creamed well, fold in cool whip and pour into graham or vanilla cookie crust. Refrigerate over night.
The finished product was what I was expecting. Lol, none of these pies are actually pie slice capable, so I just eat them straight out of the pie tin.😂
The gelatin package you don't have to follow the full thing that's why it was too much liquid and that's why it was too runny to instead of it being a nice consistency of a pie that you would cut use 1/4 cup of hot water in a quarter cup of ice water out of the freezer frigerator sorry not freezer
Leave it overnight in the fridge so it can come out firm. Can’t wait to try this 😊

That looks so yummy. Perfect spring dessert. Thank you, Jim! (:
+lemoncrinckles Thanks! We really enjoyed this one!
instead of adding water to your gelatin add. 2 small strawberry yogurts. put crust in oven for 5 mintues. helps crust not to break
The pie looks really good & pretty. Shortbread sounds like it would go with it for sure. Nice job TinMan! TFS :))

Is there a substitute for the cool whip like yogurt? 🤔 and a substitute for a more healthier pie crust?
I think any crust will do for this one.

OH MY GOODNESS YOU NAILED IT! thx for showing me how to do it now i can do it!

That didn't hurt your feeling's to have to scrape the bowl!!! I think I will use low-fat or no sugar jello and cool whip.

I remember when my Mom made cakes and pies and she let me and my brother lick the bowls. I just might have to try this one. Looks really tasty.
