You're seriously my favorite medical school page on UA-cam. You're so open, I love it! Most people try to hide their quirks or turn it into a competition. It's very refreshing!
UPDATE: If you email me, please know that I DO still check my email, but I'm swamped with work and it will take a while for me to get back to you. Rest assured though, I will respond to each and everyone of you!
Prerak Juthani hey I really like your video Can you please explain to me how to add the recommendation letters ? I want to ask my professors but I don’t know where he has to send them. Thanks
Really enjoyed the video and would love to have a sample of your application to look at during this process. I was wondering if you could provide an email I can reach you for this! Thank you!
This was one of the most beneficial videos I have ever seen! Extremely helpful to know what exactly is on the application and how many characters we are allowed! Makes planning ahead so much easier.
Thank you so much for making this video!! Just one quick question if you don't mind :) I noticed that you submitted the application in June 2016 but the duration you put for the first two EC activities had an end date after your submission date. Is that part editable after submission or we're allowed to put an estimated end date on ongoing activities?
Wow, great pick up! So, you can definitely put an end date into the following year if you know you're gonna be working on it for the following year! And that's why I did it :)
Prerak, I love love love this video. You have just taken off a whole load of pressure for those of us looking to apply to med school in the future. Thank you so much for your channel and your openness. I am concerned that my extra curricular section will not be enough. Is this the average for most applicants? Besides a paid job in health care, some volunteering and a few shadowing experiences I don’t have much else to add. I’m worried this will keep me from getting an interview. Help!
Hey not sure if this has been asked and answered... but is there a reason you only applied to joint MD/MPH at some schools but not others? Was that just a personal decision on your part or more a strategic decision based on the school. I ask because I’m thinking about MD/MPH programs
awesome video! I was wondering if I could see your application so that I can better prepare myself for the future. I would really appreciate it. Thanks for the content man.
Great video, very helpful but would it be possible to see what you wrote for your experiences just so we get an idea of how to explain the experiences and the most meaningful experiences?
As always, all your videos are awesome! It's quite cool that you are so willing to help. One question. I noticed that you have a bachelor of arts degree for the mcb and public health majors. Can you say getting a BS degree could be more helpful? Or do you think med school admissions ppl won't really even see a big difference in getting a BA/BS
Hi Prerak, You're amazing and your videos are informative, by the way! :) Just out of curiosity, what would you say is a good criteria for claiming a disadvantage status on your AMCAS? Is it your own criteria, as long as you're willing to try and justify yourself? What if one feels they're disadvantaged, but others may not consider this to be so? I feel like this subject is a little foggy Thanks!
This is definitely really foggy, and I don't have a good answer for you. Maybe you can call AMCAS and ask them? They might have a better idea of what to say. Sorry I'm not much help :(
Great video; however, I was under the impression that the "processed date" for the application occurs on 06/28 each year (i.e., you can submit the app any time before 06/28, with processing and sending occurring on the specified date), regardless of the time at which you submitted the application (assuming it was prior to the process date). You are definitely correct in saying that applications are processed via rolling admissions, but from what I've been reading, it seems like you would only by late to the process if you submit the application after the established process date. Please correct me if I'm wrong and thank you for making this video!
Hey Prerak, I noticed that you put some organizations as non-clinical volunteering. Does this mean you put the total number of hours organizing events, attending meetings, AND volunteer activities added together for your total hours or did you just put the volunteering event hours that you did for that organization? Also- when you said "substantial" is >100 hours, this means for your most meaningful experiences, not each activity for the 15 slots on your amcas, right? Because if you needed >100 hours for 15 things thats 1500 hours which is equivalent to working well over half of a year full time no weekends off on just extra curricular experiences alone...which seems relatively impossible to do while maintaining good grades and a strong mcat score LOL
Great Questions! First Q: I put the total hour for EVERYTHING (meetings + organizing events + volunteering), not just volunteering. Second Q: Technically, I meant for ANY activity, but take in mind that not all 15 of my activities had hours next to them. Things like publications and awards don't have "hours" associated with them. Moreover, you don't HAVE to fill in all 15. You want to instead focus on quality :) But, yes, I do agree those numbers are large.
For the extracurriculars did you say you have to do 15? Could you just do 13 if that's all you had? Would it be less genuine if you force 15? Along with that would using two-three different experiences under the same category be bad? (for example basketball and soccer intramurals as separate entries; or three different job experiences.) I'm going to my Junior year and I was wondering if it would smart to pre-write for the AMCAS now? (so that I could be ahead) I plan to take the MCAT in May, so I can get the scores by June and submit the AMCAS early. @Prerak Juthani
Hey Perak! So you did mention that every activity listed needs to have a contact email. What if you started an organization or a club, what contact email will you be listing? Thanks!
If you shadowed physicians from multiple different hospitals are we able to include that in one activities entry or do I have to separate them by location? I have 5 different hospitals?
umm I'm kind of confused with the Academic Record part- I plan on doing the MBBS which I'm told is an undergraduate degree and it's done in med school?? I'm only applying to 1 university which requires to apply through the AMCAS
Hey man, thank you so much for this video. It was super helpful. I was wondering if I could look at the descriptions you put for your activities, like you had mentioned in your video. Thanks again
very helpful I am in a community collage and I also have a full time job, but when ever I look at applications they always have 10 to 15 activities, as I have a full time job I don't have time to do a lot of activities and that worries me. my question is would that put me in a disadvantage?
Hey, In your opinion, do you think medical schools take into consideration the reputation of your undergraduate institution? Like do you think someone coming from BU has a better chance of getting in than someone with the same grades and mcat score and other activities but went to a state university or private, but not well known, university for undergrad?
Hey I was just wondering where on the application is where you request to send transcripts or how it is you do that whole process of requesting/sending transcripts. Would greatly appreciate any info you could give me, thank you.
You have to look up the requirements for each school. Every school is different, and most have a range. For example, Mayo Clinic accepted anywhere between 3-10 letters, so yes 4 is a good number. But 5-7 would be great as well!
Prerak Juthani First of all, thank you for this! I was literally looking for how this actually looked last week. :) Second, you attached all of your LoRs but didn't send them to the schools? I'm a little confused: how does that work?
Great question! I want to make another video on LoR entirely and I'll likely do that tonight or so. So, the AMCAS app shows the schools ALL your recommenders! However, the actual letters are sent SEPARATELY. Thus, even though they see the recommenders, they need not get a letter from every recommender!
Hey Prerak! I have a question about pre-health committees in undergrad. If my university has a pre-health committee, but I choose not to use them to apply to medical schools and get a committee letter, will that negatively affect my chances of getting into medical schools? I am deciding to obtain my letters of recommendation individually and plan on sending them to the schools I will be applying to. But I am not sure if that is a good decision. I have not had the best experience with my pre-health committee as far as them being discouraging about qualifying for medical school and even calling some students crazy for wanting to go to medical school (i have a GPA >3.6 and have different extra-curricular experiences). In addition, they have their own set of requirements (in addition to letters of rec, 6 evaluations from professors) that has been very difficult and time consuming to complete as I am trying to focus on other activities and studying for the MCAT. They also keep repeating that it wouldn't be a good idea to apply to medical schools without them and schools will ask why I didn't choose them. But if I have the required letters of rec. for each school, have a good GPA, MCAT score, and everything else I needed to do, will not going through my pre-health committee have any negative affect at all? Thanks!
Hey, so under where it says to enter gpa, do i have to enter my exact high school gpa? i don't remember my exact gpa but i can probably put the closet number down. Does it matter at all?
Just came across your video. You are serious;y so amazing and genuinely willing to help people....There aren't many people like you!!! I am in the process of filling out my application for the 2018 cycle, i'm going to be a senior. Can i email you or message you for some tips?!
If you want to know what AMCAS application says, just go to students-residents.aamc.org/applying-medical-school/article/apply-to-med-school-with-amcas/ Although a new application opens May 1st, you could still see prior year application!
How did i NOT found this channel early? Omg you are very nice and amazing. I am now a sophomore at a college and I really wanna see How the medical school application would be and the recommendations, like how much of an experience i need before hand so I could start working on it early. Is it okay if I ask you for a sample or how the application is going to be like? Now am thinking wish I could have found this channel early. You are saving lives sir and wish you the best.
Hi. I was wondering if I can have maybe look at your application? I’m a pre-med student student with lots of discrepancies on potential application and wanted to see a sample application as a whole. Was searching on the internet but can seem to find one. Thanks in advance.
Good video but I respectfully disagree about applying 4 days after the opening date of the application being 'late'. I applied mid July and I've received 8 interviews and counting (including Case) and some acceptances already so really, everyone's timeline will be different. Some people submit in August and get interviews. I know a guy who submitted in October and got accepted somewhere. So while I agree that applying early has its advantages, there are no guarantees. Apply when you have your stuff together because a rushed application will lead to an automatic rejection and no one wants that.
Hello! I will be preparing to apply to med school next year and I would like to get a feel for my weak spots in my application. Would it be possible to see your application? Thanks a ton.
Great Q: Yes! You should be able to fill out these sections because they don't change year to year. However, you would first have to draft your responses on a word document, and then, when the application opens in June, you can copy and paste directly!
The personal statement is the hardest part simply because you're just looking at it for AGES. I had 11+ drafts and it changed drastically from the first one to the last. In terms of the hours, you have to do a bit of guestimating by guessing the number of hours per week you did the activity x estimated number of weeks you were involved. You can also ask advisors of clubs if they have estimates!
Can you do a vedio for indian student who want to enter medical school in USA. What is the procedure to be followed? What is the required percentage in 10th and 12th grade?
Hello, I was very shocked to see how open you are about advice I still have a lot of years left till med school but I was wondering if you could send me your application so I know what activities and organizations and all I should be looking at! Thank you so much for this video you truly are helping everyone working toward this goal!
Probably one of the best videos on UA-cam to explain each part I really hope I can get your email so I can see the shaded parts I really want to learn from this
Good afternoon, How are you. I am interested if you can send me a copy of your application for learning purpose. This excludes the personal statement or other personal or sensitive information. Im curious over the description for each activity and the mcat score and rest of application. My email is shadowtornado18@gmail.com. I will gladly appreciate it and good luck in your success.
Can you send me it again incase I didn't get it . You can send it to this email instead of the previous one as it doesn't show up on my inbox . ohussain44@yahoo.com. Thank you
You would only submit the grades you have. If you're applying straight out (i.e. you aren't taking a year off), then you will ONLY have your junior year grades. Sending those in is sufficient. It's similar to college in that, if accepted, your acceptance is conditional with the assumption you pass all your senior year classes!
Thank you for your video. It was very helpful! Just as a heads up, I sent you an email from my edu account to ask if I could potentially look at your application to better assess what choices I should make academically and extracurricularlly in college. I would really appreciate this. Thanks again for your video.
I see now what ER's Peter Benton meant when he asked Dennis Gant if he checked the Racial Self-Identification box. Benton said he didn't, while Gant said he did. Didn't sit well with Benton.
Hello Prerak. How are you doing. Can you please please send me a copy of your application? so I can learn more and see specifically what you did. Thank you so much your so helpful!
Hi Prerak! I have been watching your videos lately and man you are really selfless and humble. I find your videos really informative and inspiring. I will be a freshman this coming fall at Emory University on the pre-med pathway and I was wondering if I can have a copy of your application as well. Can I send you an email? I'm not sure if you are still using your Berkeley account
Could you kindly send me a copy of your amcas app so that I can get a better feel for how to write the app? I would really appreciate it. Keep up with the great videos. Thanks
I really love this. People are always talking about the application process but I never know what it entails and how I should prepare for it. I’m not even university yet but I think this kind of stuff is important for me to know before I even attempt the journey so I know what I’m getting my self into. I would be an international student if I get into a us university (hopefully I pass the sats man that thing is hard) so I really had no idea of the process or how anything worked. THANK YOUU. Could I get your email please!!!
Hi, I really think this is a great tool that can help me with my application. I sent you an e-mail in hopes you can send what your application looks like. Thanks!
UPDATED VERSION HERE THAT HAS MORE INFORMATION: ua-cam.com/video/tHMEdj6CogQ/v-deo.html

Thank you so much for this! This really, really helped me. The application is WAY less scary now.
Thank you for being so open this will really help me out in the future I appreciate it!
wow this is so helpful! thank you so much. you also seem very genuine! good luck in medical school!
Thank you so much! Appreciate it!
Thank you so much! You are awesome for doing this!!! I wish you a million subscribers; I will follow you along your journey. Good luck!
HAHAHAHA IF ONLY THE ROAD TO A MILLION WAS THAT EASY. But thank you so much. That means a lot to me! Glad to have you coming along!
This was super helpful -- thank you so much! I'm still a freshman but it's good to know what I'll be doing. :D
YAY GLAD TO HEAR IT!
Bless your heart for being so helpful!
Great video thank you !! Helps put the puzzle together !

Nope! The fact that I had a BA was never brought up for any of my interviews :) Think it's seen as equivalent!
Hi Prerak,
You're amazing and your videos are informative, by the way! :)
Just out of curiosity, what would you say is a good criteria for claiming a disadvantage status on your AMCAS? Is it your own criteria, as long as you're willing to try and justify yourself? What if one feels they're disadvantaged, but others may not consider this to be so? I feel like this subject is a little foggy
Thanks!
This is definitely really foggy, and I don't have a good answer for you. Maybe you can call AMCAS and ask them? They might have a better idea of what to say. Sorry I'm not much help :(
Hi, quick question. So you said you have around 10 letter of recs. what was the reason that you didnt send the same recs to each school?
Great video; however, I was under the impression that the "processed date" for the application occurs on 06/28 each year (i.e., you can submit the app any time before 06/28, with processing and sending occurring on the specified date), regardless of the time at which you submitted the application (assuming it was prior to the process date). Is there a limited number of activities, extracurriculars, etc. that can be added on the AAMC's application?
When you applied to the 20+ medical schools, was there a fee for each one of them? Or is it just one standard fee for the AMCAS application?
Super helpful!! Thank you very much for sharing!!
So, so, so glad to hear it! Please share with others :)
Hey Prerak, I noticed that you put some organizations as non-clinical volunteering. Hey, In your opinion, do you think medical schools take into consideration the reputation of your undergraduate institution? Like do you think someone coming from BU has a better chance of getting in than someone with the same grades and mcat score and other activities but went to a state university or private, but not well known, university for undergrad?
SO hopeful, thank you!
YAY no prob :D
This is awesome. Thank you!
Yay! I'm super happy you liked it!
Hey I was just wondering where on the application is where you request to send transcripts or how it is you do that whole process of requesting/sending transcripts.
Would greatly appreciate any info you could give me, thank you.
Please answer this question!
How did you know/find out that 5-7 letter of recs are needed? I've heard that at least 4 is a good number..?
You have to look up the requirements for each school. Every school is different, and most have a range. For example, Mayo Clinic accepted anywhere between 3-10 letters, so yes 4 is a good number. But 5-7 would be great as well!
Prerak Juthani First of all, thank you for this! I was literally looking for how this actually looked last week. :) Second, you attached all of your LoRs but didn't send them to the schools? I'm a little confused: how does that work?

You would have to include your college GPA - not your high school one.
Just came across your video. You are serious;y so amazing and genuinely willing to help people....There aren't many people like you!!! I am in the process of filling out my application for the 2018 cycle, i'm going to be a senior. Can i email you or message you for some tips?!
Yes of course! :) Thanks for the feedback. My email is pjuthani@berkeley.edu
Thank you!! I sent an email :)
This was extremely helpful! Thank you so much! I would love to know what other schools you applied to!
Hey! I was wondering if you were offered a scholarship from any of the Medical Schools you applied to? Thank you for this video!
Great info for my daughter
Did you take physics in all your years in college?. I didn't see any physics on the entire course
If you want to know what AMCAS application says, just go to students-residents.aamc.org/applying-medical-school/article/apply-to-med-school-with-amcas/

My entire uncensored app is here, so maybe that'll be more helpful: ua-cam.com/video/tHMEdj6CogQ/v-deo.html
Could I count youtube as an activity? Who would be a contact?
Hi, is it still okay to get a copy at your application? It would really help me a lot. Thank you!!
Did you not get a committee letter instead of individual letters?
Hi. I was wondering if I can have maybe look at your application? I’m a pre-med student student with lots of discrepancies on potential application and wanted to see a sample application as a whole. Was searching on the internet but can seem to find one. Thanks in advance.

Absolutely!
For the "disadvantaged" section? What can you enter in there?
That was very helpful thanks dude..!!
Hello! I will be preparing to apply to med school next year and I would like to get a feel for my weak spots in my application. Would it be possible to see your application? Thanks a ton.
Yes! Of course! Shoot me an email at pjuthani@berkeley.edu :)
Hi prerak juthani
can we fill out these sections before AMCAS application submission opens?. thank you
Great Q: Yes! You should be able to fill out these sections because they don't change year to year. However, you would first have to draft your responses on a word document, and then, when the application opens in June, you can copy and paste directly!

In terms of the hours, you have to do a bit of guestimating by guessing the number of hours per week you did the activity x estimated number of weeks you were involved. You can also ask advisors of clubs if they have estimates!
Hi! Thanks for your video! It helps a lot:) Btw, I am not sure what semester hours means... Could you please explain it a bit:)?
you are a godsend!
Can you do a vedio for indian student who want to enter medical school in USA. What is the procedure to be followed? What is the required percentage in 10th and 12th grade?
You’re so awesome!
If it was a job you worked for years what do you put for total hours
How did you organize all this information for your application?
The application makes it easier since there are particular fields at particular times. You then just enter in the information :)
Hello, I was very shocked to see how open you are about advice I still have a lot of years left till med school but I was wondering if you could send me your application so I know what activities and organizations and all I should be looking at! Thank you so much for this video you truly are helping everyone working toward this goal!
How do you pay for so many med school applications?
Probably one of the best videos on UA-cam to explain each part I really hope I can get your email so I can see the shaded parts I really want to learn from this
Video on your study routinee
Great suggestion! I'll get on it :)

Can you send me it again incase I didn't get it . You can send it to this email instead of the previous one as it doesn't show up on my inbox . ohussain44@yahoo.com. Thank you
Could give more tips on how to write in the Work/Activities section?
Hey Prerak, are you willing to donate/sell some of your practice questions and books that you have used?
Hey if you're applying as a junior then how would you put in your senior year grades if you don't have them ?
Also thanks for the vid, very helpful
You would only submit the grades you have. If you're applying straight out (i.e. you aren't taking a year off), then you will ONLY have your junior year grades. Sending those in is sufficient. It's similar to college in that, if accepted, your acceptance is conditional with the assumption you pass all your senior year classes!
thank you man
Thank you for your video. It was very helpful! Just as a heads up, I sent you an email from my edu account to ask if I could potentially look at your application to better assess what choices I should make academically and extracurricularlly in college. I would really appreciate this. Thanks again for your video.
Could you talk about what Med Schools you applied to in a future video! :)
Yup! It's on my list! I'll try to get to it ASAP! :)
What was your undergraduate GPA?
3.99. Also included here: ua-cam.com/video/tHMEdj6CogQ/v-deo.html :D
I see now what ER's Peter Benton meant when he asked Dennis Gant if he checked the Racial Self-Identification box. Benton said he didn't, while Gant said he did. Didn't sit well with Benton.
WOW! what schools did you apply to??
25 total! I think I'll bring them up in a future video. Internet access will be limited in the next three weeks :/
Hello Prerak. How are you doing. Can you please please send me a copy of your application? so I can learn more and see specifically what you did. Thank you so much your so helpful!
Can I see your full application please, I will be applying to med school soon
Thank you!
Thank you so much! Feel free to email me at pjuthani@berkeley.edu. Still should work!
I didn't really do that good in my high school days, will that impact me? My coursework in college is excellent
DEFINITELY SAME but I dont think it does
Could you kindly send me a copy of your amcas app so that I can get a better feel for how to write the app? I would really appreciate it. Keep up with the great videos. Thanks
I really love this. People are always talking about the application process but I never know what it entails and how I should prepare for it. I’m not even university yet but I think this kind of stuff is important for me to know before I even attempt the journey so I know what I’m getting my self into. I would be an international student if I get into a us university (hopefully I pass the sats man that thing is hard) so I really had no idea of the process or how anything worked. THANK YOUU. Could I get your email please!!!
Love
Hi I’m likhith I want to know the schools u applied to pls I watch and like ur videos
Could I ask for your GPA? thanks!
Hi, I really think this is a great tool that can help me with my application. I sent you an e-mail in hopes you can send what your application looks like. Thanks!
Should respond to this email as soon as possible :)
Hi Prerak! I sent you a PM here on UA-cam! Hope you received it :)

Thank you!
You look like an bollywood actor...Im trying to remember his name?
I'll take this as a huge compliment :)
lmao he's way better looking an Aziz. Don't see it.
Hey can you send me your application thanks.
Yeah, shoot me an email at pjuthani@berkeley.edu. Ideally, if you can email me from an EDU account, I'd appreciate it.
Were you successful?
Yes! Feel free to add me on snapchat for more info! Will be posting a video on this later :) SC: prerakcity
Do you have a snapchat/Instagram we could talk over in? Really have a lot of questions if you wanna help :P
Yes! My snapchat is prerakcity - hit me up!
Thank you for such a helpful video. What is your email please for advice and questions?
You look a lot like Aziz Ansari.
I take this as the highest compliment ever. ^__^
Prerak Juthani you must be a cool guy to think that was the highest compliment. I think Aziz is like the funniest guy on earth. Best of luck at Yale!
Aziz and Louis CK are at the top of my list :) So, I'm right with ya!
