I giggled a little seeing Coco passed out on the rug. Just so sweet.
Happened to me once when I was doing my french homework on the floor 😂😂
You should read the original Peter Pan. That one is very shocking! 😆
I don't believe books should be rewritten just because of the change in culture. It's insulting to the authors and you have to remember that in that time it wasn't shocking to them. You either read it knowing that or you choose not to read it.
I m not sure about changing the original books. No-one has changed Shakespeare!! 😊 Lovely hearing the children read
I agree, Our headmaster read the entire series to us, over 4 years. If you find the book inappropriate then I would suggest not buying it.
I can not believe they are re-writing a novel, who does that?
As a novelist myself, and the mother of seven, I have mixed feelings about such 'revisions.' It does seem important to keep Dahl's books in libraries for contemporary children, and so taking out racist or casually derogatory language will keep the books isn use. But it's very important not to change the story line or the voice of characters. For instance,The Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mystery books were heavily revised in the 1960s to remove the casual and unthinking racist and classist language of the 1920s and 1930s. That kept the series in the libraries for new generations of readers, while the originals are still available as the 'classic' version. Perhaps something like that can happen with Dahl's books?
@@kathrynreissauthor Yes, if it's very well done it can have good results. As long as the original remains available as well. I do worry it may be done badly though. I have heard some examples that were awkward or that changed characters.
Actually a great many translations and adaptations of Shakespeare's plays have been written. There are abridged versions, modern language versions, graphic novels, all kinds of things. And of course translations into different languages usually use much more modern language and somewhat different jokes. The originals also remain at the same time - it all coexists.
@@kathrynreissauthor Exactly. And the originals can be used to teach kids: this was then, we don't do/say that anymore now and this is why. Kids can't learn if they don't know.
I dislike all the changes to books it’s not what the author intended
If you don’t like it don’t read it
They’re making a weak minded generation
I’m 65 and love books
My mom and I had over 4000
books with downsizing I only have by favorites now
Sending love to your family ❤
I don't think that removing for example racist elements will make a weak minded generation...
i think taking things like racial slurs or slurs against those with disabilities out of childrens books is a good thing actually. Times change, people need to change with them, no one is harmed by taking those words out but they may give children the wrong idea if theyre left in
I’m 45 and loved Roald Dahl books, also worked in elementary ed for many years and he was popular with those kids too. I don’t really see the problem. Things change with the times but I would rather see the problems talked about than just deleted from the text.
I have to say I am against changing classic works. I worry that by censoring everything we're in danger of forgetting the lessons learned along the way. When I was in school, we read a lot of books for the purpose of discussion and debate. My teachers taught me how to think for myself, not what to think. My parents did the same. If we remove everything we disagree with, there's no challenge, no inspiration, no education at all. That's not how healthy minds work.
The big boys were so interested in teaching Sylvie and gave her so much attention, and all the while they never lost their kindness. It was a joy to watch.
Sylvie is such a smartie.
Cosmo sleeping on the rug and Sylvie being so excited about the pie game were both really cute! 😄
I love that this park looks like the 8-12 year olds can have hours of fun too. Children are only precious children for so long, and it is so fun that your city has so many park options!
The triplet's reading has blossomed with you home schooling them. Well done, mum and dad 👏
I really enjoyed hearing how well the triplets are reading!
It's always a good day when we get a beans video ❤😊🎉
I am continually impressed by the quality of your playgrounds. So many things that can actually challenge kids of all different ages. It feels like a good balance of fun and challenge while still being reasonably safe.
Это невероятно! У меня тройняшки и еще трое старших и нет столько выдержки как у этой женщины! Невероятная мама. Как вам удалось воспитать таких спокойных детей?
Who doesn't like a play in the park? Our temps today were the same as yours. We're on the otherside of summer. Snow earlier in the week! Rain & cold coming later today.
The 1,000 hour challenge is to get kids (& parents) off their devices & up & moving, interacting with one another. Your family spends a lot of time playing outside & visiting such fun parks, museums & the library.
Let sleeping babies lay! 😴
One more kid and you'll have your own football team!
It's amazing that they all read so well. Sylvie will out read them all one day😅. I also noticed how much she and Evan look so alike❤
SYLVIE learns so quickly it’s amazing what she knows, she has the best parents to make her be the best she can be, like all the others, so lovely hearing 6 of them reading , soon two more will be reading words and on ! COCO so cute sleeping and precious Birdie , so cute ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love how organised you are by taking an amazing snack board and toys to the park. Id love to see a video of you getting prepared for a day out 🙂 😊😊
Sending lots of love, hugs and happiness your way. Thanks for always bringing a so needed smile to my glum face. Take care! 🤗
Did Sylvie call Cosmo Coconut when he was asleep on the rug? 😂 It was 22° in England today too, I find it hard to enjoy our autumn weather though as I'm dreading the winter. But the 1000 hours outside challenge definitely helps me with that.
I lost track of our hours the first year, now I use the 1000 hours tracker app, I tend to add the hours in about once a week or less, I wouldn't remember daily. Sometimes I use Google Timeline to work out what time we arrived and left places, or I check the time stamp on photos I've taken 😂. We have a poster, but we haven't coloured it in since probably February. I definitely find getting outside more fun with the challenge though, I need the novelty and accountability! I like the Facebook community too, and the podcasts.
Love seeing your family's updates & seeing each of your kids' growth
I luv how your kids eat anything you put in front of them 😊 Coco sleeping on the mat was so cute .. I don’t think a tornado would have woken him 😆
I would love a library like that we have lots of books but they’re spread all around the house! Don’t have a wall that long to have all the shelves together! So we have some in the living room and then in the bedrooms there’s bookshelves!
I like loved hearing the older children read.
I love how excited your kids are about everything- Sylvie was so happy with the tongs! 😂
Moro no Brasil, amo assistir seus vídeos, fico admirada com a paciência com seus filhos.
They playground looks lovely and I thought that I'd seen it before! I live in the UK but my niece lives in a place called Butler and she sent me a pic of her 2 boys playing in the playground. She says that it uses up their energy! She is moving soon because the rent is too high, but it seems a shame to leave such a lovely place. Love watching your videos. 🙂
Seriously, you guys have amazing parks.
I saw a video saying that any collection of books can be considered a real library if it contains over 1,000 books! Yall should count them to see how close you are! I bet it's pretty close if you aren't there already!
There are some 'real' libraries in very small communities that have fewer books than that!
A library is about having a variety of collections, requires the books to be in an organised sequence and for a specific purpose. A library isn’t just the number of books someone owns
I'm laughing so hard at how Cosmo fell asleep on the rug. He just passed out right in the middle of everything
wow the triplets are reading so well!!
also, the versions of roald dahl stories that we read in the 1990s and 2000s were already edited. the original description of the oompa loompas was incredibly racist and depicted them basically as african slaves. it's important to keep updating older texts to make sure they're not teaching children any outdated ideas, but also allowing them to enjoy these stories as we did.
I understand that things are changing and things are becoming inappropriate, but I find it just as inappropriate to change Roald Dahl's hard work, which is beloved by many people! It's the same with films of my generation and before it. I watched a movie from my generation where they gave a statement that the movie contains language, negative depictions, etc., but they were showing the film in its entirety, to preserve history and learn, as well as to spark constructive discussions, which I think is great! I hate to see history erased and reworked!
I love that you prioritize reading so much! 🥹
CoCo is sooo cute!!!
The kids are all so adorable and smart❤
One of my favorite memories with my children reading together
Why not make the outdoor hours a school project for the older kids ? Interesting, touches on health and science and a learning experience! They learn about averages and targets🌞☀️😊
Birdie is so smart ❤
You are a absolutly lovely family ❤
" What a great way to read a book ..I also love books . Do you still have those big floor puzzles ? The kids were eager to show how fast they could work them !!! Lovely outside temps make for happy people ..hugs from me in Kentucky ❤"
Sylvie looks like a little farmer with her dungarees and her hat! She is so industrious!
Hello coc sleeping was too cute. I saw the clip on Facebook. ❤🎉 An the kids r eating u r the original of the charcuterie board.... An Sylvie is so smart. ❤
Birdie is definitely a typical toddler ! Mom puts on her hat & off it goes again . 😉
You are so lucky to have so many amazing play parks nearby!
The first book I ever read was Matilda when I was in year 6 which was 16 years ago now
I just love your Library. So many books for the children.
all your parks are so nice and clean wish it was like that where I live in NSW
At 3:05 - Birdie's little curls! 🥰
Henry and Felix did so well on that dangling ladder thing! I was very bad at them when I was little lol.
The grass area looks great, but it's really sunny. Maybe they should have planted some more trees there to provide some shade!
Sylvie is Ottos twin she is just the sweetest
Jaka byłam zaskoczona kiedy byłam w stanach i na ogromnym telewizorze nagle widzę program z Beansami...😀
I love your snacks.
I love to see your videos, specially when is super warm, feels like australia is so close to Brazil haha
Silvie looks so much like Evan!
Love watching your videos! I was wondering, with your sweet children being homeschooled and always having lovely siblings to play with, is it difficult for them to meet other kids and develop friendships outside the family? With all you try to fit into a day, I can imagine it's hard to schedule playdates as well. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on outside friendships! And do kids have sleepovers in Australia the way they often do in America? It WAS a common thing for my kids to have a friend sleep over at one house or another on a weekend, once they were about nine or ten years old... Of course, it differs from family to family, even in America, but it's quite common and was when I was a child as well!
Matilda has a movie . Mayb u can find it. For a movie night. It cute seeing them all take a turn to read.... 😂
No, they are quite social kids and make friends easily. We have regular groups we go to weekly where they see the same friends, and we do individual catch ups too. My older 3 boys have sleepovers with trusted friends. 😊
So jealous of your library. A beautiful room that everyone can enjoy and read
Just because it’s not filmed, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
I agree this your opinion of re-editing kids books that don’t fit in our society or thoughts any more ♥️
Love your videos
your hair is beautiful and healthy 🤍
what did you do about Pearl's bedroom ? is she still alone ?
Why do you want to know about a minor child’s sleeping arrangements?
She’s a mini Rufus 🥰 so cute!!!
Evan ma piękne włosy, rośnie na pięknego młodzieńca...
Y’all have the best kiddos! Very smart 👍🏻ty for the video 🌼🌼
Your parks are amazing there, heck if no one was around, I'd probably be on the monkey bars and that big round swing.
I'm quite impressed with Rufus' upper body strength, little man made it all the way across. 👍
Gotta be honest, when I read the title, saying you failed, I thought you guys decided to know the gender of baby Guac. 😁
Birdie is a Cute 😍
Birdie takes the dip away🤣🤣🤣 So cute😱🥰
I have a Matilda tattoo! It's one of my favorites.
When birdie went down the slide and got sandy hands and flapped them in the air (either to get the sand off or in excitement ) it reminded me of Evan when you started youtube ♡♡
7:03 Bird 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 Kiss from Brasil!😘
Oh you've got a PaaPii t-shirt from Finland, so cute, my kids use the same Peas pattern!
Can we have an update on the twin are they still in a crib or they in a toddler bed is Sylvie in a room with peril who is cosmo in sleeping with
Why do you want to know their minor children’s sleeping arrangements?
@LeahFairfield because she said she would give us an update on the sleeping arrangements with the twins and not all peope on here are perverts soo yea thats why
That rug must be pretty comfortable!
Great way to practice fluidity!
I love Birdie’s curls.
Your snack looked so yummy 😋.
22-25 is like our summer lol
where i love in Canada winter /45 windchill -54 love yur arks
Greetings from Germany. You are also very popular there ❤😊
I loved this video ❤
I noticed there are rarely any other people in all of these gorgeous parks you visit and can't help but wonder why? Even during the middle of a weekday, I'd think there would be lots of pre-school aged children there
Parks are usually empty during the weekdays as many children are at daycare while their parents work.
During weekdays, most children are in regular school.
Being homeschooled, you have the freedom of having the park to yourself.
@@FootballFanLeanne I'm talking about pre-school aged children. Would figure there are stay at home parents with young children, as is the case here but maybe not there
@@adoreyou7449 No stay at home parents though?
Has there been any Update on your tattoo journey? Sorry if you already told about this.
I get confused which Videos i have seen already.
Spring in Australia already seems so hot. To hear spring gets you Temperatures over 30 degrees is actually crazy to me.
I live in Germany. Over 30 degrees is summer time for us
In summer we get past 40 at times. It’s not my favourite 🙈
I can’t get laser while pregnant but they continue to fade with time so I’ll show them again soon!
I live in a different part of Australia and I don't like over 23 degrees haha. Visiting the in laws at Christmas kills me haha
Take care,,..,....💝💝💝💝💝💝
Love Birdie's sweet curls!
If you enjoy Matilda try The Magic Finger by the same author. Its really nice.
The kids read outloud so great! Congratulations teach! 🙌🏻
I like the pie game.
You have the most amazing beautiful family. I ❤your UTube channel. Thank you for sharing.
❤❤❤❤amazing
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Bless 👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯
You seem to have given up on the one theme a month thing as well
So?
Wow look at Henry on the monkey bars. You look very pale Chloe, how are your iron levels? Tbf with your beautiful brood I’m tired watching you. Lots of love from England. ❤❤
🌹🌹❤
Birdie is so big and I thought you gave up being team green 😅
Honestly I am glad America has passed new laws so books don't have to do that over here it's the only thing our government has done right so far they can't banned books it's now in the constitution and schools can't banned books either I am literally scared for next years election it scary things happen when there are no good candidates running I am scared because a lot of bad people running next year are targeting Illinois because we are the only state besides California that did not follow the federal banned on women's health care rights I would love Illinois to be part of canada we have the same values as canada so
No nuts for kids
Why?
If they like nuts, let them eat nuts.
@@lianepeez151 Chocking hazard and allergy risk, but the nuts in the video and most of her videos are cut to prevent that. I think she would know after having 8 kids when to introduce nuts (1st part for liane 2nd for Isabel)
They’re not your children so you don’t get to decide what they can and cannot have.
@@elpink5424 My question was ironic… I‘m a mother in a high risk allergy family and it‘s very important to introduce food with high allergical risk in an early age… and i can‘t understand helicopter parents, who try to avoid any kind of „risk“ in their childrens life🙄
Oh yuck I don’t like dates sorry to be rude
I thought they were natural laxatives or am I thinking of prunes
