    For anyone having issues with textures/materials - you will need to also download the character itself (with no animation) and then import it to your hierarchy. Once there, click on it, and on the Inspector go to Materials > unpack both the materials and the textures.

      It's ok to download the character with animation. I usually download the character with idle as the animation. Then the rest of the animations, I'll download just the animation without the skin. But definitely yes on the materials. Once you download from Mixamo unpack materials and textures and then reapply the textures to the materials. thanks for the comments here @Wormhole

    *Amazing! that's the best tutorial on playmaker blend tree animation movement*
    I want the run movement to be on Shift Key from the Keyboard and the other movement to be blend tree(idle and walk)

    perfect for the gamepad lever but as regards the keyboard or you program the run based on the pressure for example of left shift or it always runs, thanks anyway excellent tutorials always explained clearly

    I have to say after using and subscribing to other Utube Devs, this guy is the only one who actually goes through step by step and explains only what's necessary in a very informative clear way, Thankyou you are definitely a great teacher. leave you feeling inspired and not confused. I've subbed and awaiting more content on game development using Play maker. If you could look at some VR development using playmaker would make my day as that's what I'm aiming to do . i know that it probably wont be as complex game wise than using code. but looking at something simple to complete. thanks again love the into and word of wisdom and encouragement on your page too

      Thanks Brian. I'll definitely get in some VR as well. I had a whole series of VR vids I had recorded but hadn't edited or posted and then hard drive crashed. =( There was also a bunch more mobile stuff on that drive as well but will get back to record those. I'm hoping to ramp up my own VR development this summer too.

      Thanks Brian!! Same. i have an oculus 2. Unfortunately i have a mac so dev is just a bit more complicated. If I want to make a change, I have to make a build and push over to my Oculus so a bit more tedious. PC, man you can just hook up and use the Oculus right in the Unity Editor. Makes me want to get a PC just for this purpose (although I'm a hard core Mac guy =)

    Mmk I'm infuriated there was just 1-2 tiny little more steps I needed to take but I appreciate you putting this out so fast. I had no idea you couldn't use those animations directly. I'm assuming your magnitude is just how much you're moving in general and a vector2/3 is your literal speed in specific directions?

    • @BlizStudio
      @BlizStudio  2 роки тому +1

      Yep. You actually can use those animations that are internal but you can't loop them. All you really need is the animation out of each and the first model.

      I had the knowledge that you do. I want to learn. I yearn to learn. Seriously, I have the time & resources. I keep trying every day but tutorials on specific mechanics don’t help. People only explain THEIR mechanics. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it doesn’t help me particularly. You’re incredibly talented, and I envy you & everything about you

    • @BlizStudio
      @BlizStudio  11 місяців тому

      Ah you can do it!! What mechanics are you specifically wanting to try? Firstly don't start out wanting to create a massive AAA game right from the start. Best to try something small and simple just to go through the process. Something like a cookie clicker. Very simple mechanics. Creating UI, Clicking button and having that button update a variable count, etc... Any time you want help or advice, you can always pop over to my discord server (link up in the video description).

    Ok, so... in my 'point and click' adventure, i can set a 'start run front', 'turn right side' (to start to walk), etc, right? Its automatic it, like...'click in right side and the player WILL 'turn' (first ani) after 'walk' (ani2)?

    • @BlizStudio
      @BlizStudio  9 днів тому +1

      Were you able to get this figured? I've been offline. Several things you can do. You would do a screen to world space action to get where your pointer clicked. Then you can use a "move to".

    Hi Jerry, great tutorial. New to playmaker here, just a question on the movement side of things. I have the character moving and animating etc. But when turning from one direction to a other instead of instantly turning the character gradually turns as if I'm going round a roundabout to turn instead of just doing a straight 180 or 90 turn.
    I can see it does the same kind of thing in your vid but just wondered, any idea how to fix that?

    • @BlizStudio
      @BlizStudio  Рік тому

      Yep for me, I'm controlling the rotation of the character with the Smooth Look at Direction. If you want it to be a little more "snappy"(faster), you can play with the Speed and also the Magnitude (but playing with Speed mainly) will I think have it feeling a little better. Sometimes that's just what it takes to play with the numbers to make the game "feel" right. Now for my animation system on this example, I've kept it fairly simplistic. You can definitely make it way more complex with strafing and other positioning moves depending on what you want to do with your game. I'm not sure I answered your question but hope it helps.
